No customisation. It is the second generation UK PS3(the one that can't play PS2 games). As long as the disc is NTSC region free, it has no problem.

Oh wow. I live in the US. We sure get the bad end of the deal. Like most NTSC DVD players, my PS3 can only play NTSC. I really don't understand why it seems that a lot of PAL players can play NTSC but not much NTSC can play PAL. Maybe I need a UK PS3 now...

I believe the DVD Spec req PAL players to support NTSC, but not visa-versa.

You could say it was so Hollywood could release titles without the expense of Standards Conversion.

Certainly the original release of "Sex and the City" Season 1 and "An Evening With Kevin Smith" were Region 2 NTSC (same as Japan).

A similar thing has happened with Blu-ray - 50Hz playback is only mandatory in 50Hz territories, but 24p and 60Hz playback is available everywhere.

And yes, the US PS3 is just Sony being stupid.

FWIW, I've noticed many portable DVD players in the US seem to play PAL.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

There are a couple of others, but I haven't seen hi-res download links for them.

Thanks Moth3r. People don't seem to have embraced this project as far as making covers is concerned, which is a shame. I have a guy on the case, creating me a decent cover. I am quite happy with the one I made but I can't wait to see what he can do.

Watch this space.

This is the first disc in a LONG time where I didn't want to make a choice until the main menu finished its cycle. Masterful from the very first moment.

Finally managed to finish off watching this a few days ago.

(I typed that, then went looking and found this post of mine from 4 years ago - history repeating itself!)

I have to say that SWB is a fantasticallyy compelling watch. I think the reason that it has attracted so much more internet attention than BE and RtJ is that there is just so much more rare behind-the-scenes stuff out there for the original Star Wars. (What other film could spark a debate about the voice of a character who only appears in 2 scenes?)

I think your choice of commentaries is faultless. I'm normally indifferent to audio commentaries on DVD and rarely listen to them, but I loved the audio clips on SWB. Mark Hamill's stuff about mating ladybugs and comparing himself to a plump juicy raisin is wonderful, and - as he says - "that's the sort of thing you don't normally hear about in a making-of documentary".

It's also intersting to hear the respect that the cast had for Alec Guinness, and Guinness's admiration of George Lucas. After constantly reading Lucas-bashing posts on this site, it's refreshing to hear his early speeches about his struggle to get the film made, and to find yourself actually liking the guy.

If you ever consider doing a V3, there are a couple of improvements I would suggest:
 - I found that the speech balloons on the Chief Bast scene move around too much to be legible
 - it sounds like you used a lower-quality recording of the mono mix, instead of the restored version I sent you way back at the start of the project (maybe you lost it in the hard drive crash? I'll gladly send it you again).

One final question...
What do we have to do to convince you to take on that Raiders project you hinted at? ;-)

Check out this article I caught in the newspaper this morning.

Now that you mention it, I think I saw SWB mentioned in a newspaper, too. I guess it was last year mentioning that the first part was up since it wasn't completed at the time.

Thanks for your very considered review. Nice to put a face to a name finally.

To be honest I got a bit lost during the making of SWB with regards to what source material had. Due to the recovery process lots of the files got named as something else which was very confusing. At least 50 files were renamed SOURCE.

If I ever do a V3, maybe after the sept blubtay release. I will be sure to take your points on board.

Thanks
J

Just finished watching it, great work Jambe! :)

I agree with Moth3r's points, I had to freeze the frame during the Chief Bast scene. The only other thing that bugged me a little is cropping 4:3 footage to widescreen but I do understand the reason behind it, that's just a petpeeve of mine, LOL.

Now to watch the rest of the trilogy, I've only seen BE twice and RTJ once. Again, excellent work!
