Why would someone only want the PT? And why would someone buy something they know they're not going to be happy about?

I imagine there are some people who love the PT and don't care for the OT.

...I don't really know what's wrong with those people but hopefully they see the light someday.

I voted, but I doubt Lucas/Lucasfilm/Fox will care about such polls. It would be nice if like someone said and it was on starwars.com then if there was a considerable percentage for the originals maybe it would get noticed? But again they probably don't care for such polls. Ignorance is bliss I guess. :-(

You make a fair point, Frink, fanedits could be one of the reasons to buy the PT only, but somehow I get the feeling, that the people who voted for the prequels are probably not those interested in fanedits.

Yes, xhonzi made that point too.

BUT I DEMAND TO BE RECOGNIZED!!!

Strange as it may sound, I actually could see myself buying only the prequels. Why? Because it pains me to spend more money on yet another screwed-up version of the OT when I can get a more original version online. And, although the PT is laughably bad, if I wanted a copy I might opt for the blu-ray just for the effects. As far as the PT being screwed up and revised too, I don't really care about that. If Lucas wants to mess with the PT, I'm not sure I'd notice.

The irony is, if I really bought it for this reason, Lucas will just conclude that I bought it because I prefer it (statistically, I mean).

I voted to have the Original Unaltered Trilogy restored. I am unclear about the new Blu-Rays. Is Lucas going to make even more alterations to the films or will these be the 2004 versions?

I don't think anyone knows yet.  I can't remember if he addressed this or not, but even if he did, he's been known to change his mind last minute before...

I'd be shocked if it's the same as the 2004 DVDs.  Pretty much every home video release has had some form of alteration to it on at least one of the films, minus the "Faces" DVD set (I'm including new audio mixes in this statement).

I think, most likely, a better question is what will be changed this time? Will Stormtroopers have different colors like the clones in the prequels? Will Alec Guinness turn into Ewan McGregor at the end of Jedi? Will every Imperial die of natural causes so our heroes don't look like cold-blooded murderers?

Me too. If they are going to change it, at least do it right. I hope they don't keep the mess that came out on in 2004.

My thoughts are that it will be the exact same thing, visually (minus the CG TPM Yoda, which was already done as a ROTS test, and the new TPM timing because that film needed to be newly transfered). I could be wrong.

Yea, I guess they'll make Luke wish for the Imperials to have a heart, and they'll all explode under the sensation of guilt.

Has anyone left an amazon review (or plan to in the future?) You might want to include the link (amazon lets you automatically embed a link to a different product on their site from your review) to the 2008 set which is a very cheap way to get the original versions in one set.

yet few seem to realize that. Even people I've talked to have said they like the theatrical editions much more but didn't even know they were out there legit at all.

If enough people mention it in reviews, don't you think some people will be tempted to buy the $25 set of the movies they really want rather than spend $65 more for the sets they already have, plus bonus features they would only watch once anyways and will show up on youtube eventually?

(fun fact: LFL does not seem to be very vigilant about having their materials taken down from youtube, compared to other companies and studios.)

So far all we know is that there will be an improved transfer of TPM with a digital Yoda and that there will be tweaks done to ANH's audio including a new krayt dragon roar.

On a less solid note, as I've said before I did catch a portion of a digital screening of ANH at CV and Luke's lightsaber appeared to be fixed on the Falcon and the color in general looked better than what I remember from the '04 DVDs.

Shortly before the Death Star explodes, Tarkin orders all personnel on board to be gassed.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?
