Already sent my list to Rinzler. I'm sure if he laid out the book with original images that he still has them.

That's fine, your tips will help Rinzler with the fourth printing revisions.  He's got the LFL library at his disposal to find the originals.  As ImperialFighter wrote, when's that come out.  we'll check then.

But what about all the people with copies from printings one thru three, they deserve to be informed.  Lucasfilm is not going to offer new copies to those with incorrect books.  and that's where savestarwars.com comes in, they can be that informer.  By providing modified page scans with pre&post corrections and explanations.

Most of the pictures are so small it doesn't make a difference.

you don't believe that...

I mean that the quality of the GOUT doesn't look too bad at 1.5 inches wide. ;-)

I will continue my corrections on MoSW. Don't worry about that.

Wouldn't this giant ass book of prints confirm that Lucas isn't changing the colours? I mean he went through the original trilogy FRAME BY FRAME. For years. They started doing this in like 2005 or something, with Lucas personally taking the time over three or four years to view the films in a frame by frame way and make selections. It's not like he can have the excuse some people attribute --"oh, well who actually watches their own films?" Not only does he watch them, he combed through them frame by frame, which took him years to do, and then spent another few years going over the selects and narrowing the total down.

Who would pay thousands of dollars for the autograph of the man that destroyed star wars ?

I mean if the proceeds go to charity i guess its an okay but dumb purchase, if you intend to throw it in the trash.

I know TFN fans with probably get it for other reasons however, they are quite worshipful of the maker, lol.

My thoughts exactly! Ugh.

How is this different from these things that you could get for 2 bucks at the mall:

Oh, there is definitely a difference. These are high quality prints, very expensive to make but you can see the quality, and the paper is probably very nice as well. And the wooden box is very nice too, and especially with the extremely limited quality it's not suprise that it's expensive. But instead of the $500 you might expect for a super-premium thing like this it's the price of a used car. Ultimately the Blu Ray will give you better resolution than the prints here anyway, so it's not like this is the best way to see these frames the way it would have been any other time up until five years ago. This is more for the novelty and collectibility, but who in their mind would spend 3 grand unless you were very rich? I guess there are so many millions of Star Wars fans that there are 1138 rich ones. I rather like the idea behind this project, but the pricetag is kind of offensive.

Its more than offensive when you consider before Lucas godhood he would sign fan items for free.  Same with Spielberg and both were very approachable.

I got an item a starlog magazine he signed on star wars 10th anniversary.

It is real and authentic as the writer of the article for the magazine sold it to me.

This was right after Lucas had done the classic star wars trilogy, and the first two Indiana Jones pictures.  At the height of his powers before he destroyed star wars and indiana jones in a 9 year span of time from 1999-2008.

The pre CGI is king Lucas.  When he was a good filmmaker and not pissing off fans of the oot.

You cannot piss off your most vocal and ardent supporters and the ones who supported you from day one and get anything but flack in the fan community.  And all he had to do to alleviate it was release a decent anamorphic release of the oot on DVD, but no.

Zombie, i noticed something you wrote in  the technicolour screening section

3) Also, there has been some debate over what colour the Death Star interiors should be. Most fan preservations try to get it grey; Adywan was famously a stickler to get totally neutral colours.

This wasn't done because i thought that's how it originally looked, as can be seen in my AVCHD 1080p version. It was a creative decision because i wanted it to look grey and drab to give a militaristic feel, like the inside of a submarine.

I also think that most people haven't even tried to alter the colors of the interiors, just preserv what was already there, which was washed out LD transfers, if we're talking the original cuts, that is. What version of the film is your AVCHD, adywan? Is it a fan-edit?

Derann must have had two different sources for their Super 8, because the one I've seen is not from a French print, and shows some wear from the 35mm source material.

The stumbling block for any potential transfer is the reels are too big for  Super 8mm telecines like the Workprinter.

Where were you in '77?

Thank you for a good read, Zombie, very nice article. Love those photos of the Derann print, beautiful!

Holy moly...  I had no idea there were full length 8mm scope prints of the original trilogy....  Hello new collection holy grail!

So, does anyone have any idea just how rare or expensive these might be?  I'm sure they're currently outside my budget, but it's something to work for!  Bluray? Schmuray!  Who needs that when I can have my own PRINT!
