Those screen shots look nice! I'm really loving the (finally) two-eyed stormtrooper. Yay, hurray for less DVNR!

Really looking forward to watching this , excellent work Lee.

Yes, this does look very nice.

I'd be interested in putting the six shots as shown here up for comparison.

lee, I thought this project was for the 97 special edition? Those screens look like the original version.

EDIT: read some of the past pages and got my answer. Could you post some screens from the Special Edition films? The Jabba scene from ANH would be nice.

Looks amazing.

Can I ask, have they been converted to true anamorphic widescreen Lee?

If I get some time I will try and post these. ;)

Hi Rockin,

What's your definition of 'true anamorphic widescreen'?

LOL, he probably wants to know if you encoded them in 16:9? and Lee the screens look nice, but a little to smooth\soft\blurry not sure what term to use, but a little to much of that for me.

Looks very nice, could you perhaps post some screen-caps of these shots? http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/Star-Wars-Trilogy-Original-Theatrical-Versions-2006-DVD-Flaw-List/post/462787/#TopicPost462787

I'm curious if these French LD's have the same color issues. Also, could you check the asteroid chase in Empire, I'm interested to know if it have the blue colored TIE-lasers the '95 PAL-VHS had. Thanks.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Sincerely, Lynne Hale publicity@lucasfilm.com

Hi Rockin,

From the little info that I have read, aren't most laserdiscs which are said to be 'widescreen' are only letterboxed (like GOUT) and not truly anamorphic in the sense of filling the screen properly in 16:9? Correct me if I am wrong, but I have yet to see a laserdisc in true 16:9.

Yes.

Yes, the laserdiscs are 4:3 letterboxed widescreen. However, it looks like he has upscaled this to convert to 16:9 anamorphic widescreen (the clue is that the screenshots are 1024 x 576 not 768 x 576).

Yeah, it seems that color glitch in the garage is only on the '93 NTSC-master. It's not like that on my PAL VHS, I'm just curious if these LD's comes from a different master than the VHS tapes.

Unfortunately the softness of the image is a feature of the 1995 PAL release. :(

This is correct I have converted the letterboxed 4:3 to anamorphic 16:9. :)

I will see what I can do. ;)

EDIT: I am just watching Empire now to check I am 100% happy with it, and I can confirm the TIEs in the asteroid field have blue lasers. :(

While I am here I just want to repeat/confirm what Moth3r has said before that the 1995 THX PAL release does still suffer from DVNR smear, although not to the same extent as the GOUT. :(

I would say the 97 SE ones, since there is hardly any ESB and ROTJ 97 SE to download, except for one very compressed avi copy.

Ah, okay. Thanks for checking. It's weird, I wonder what really caused all these minor color problems with some of the optical effects in the '93/'95-telecine.

As I get closer to being ready to upload both the '97 SE and THX trilogies I was wondering, what would people prefer I upload first? I have a hunch more people are interested in the THX trilogy but I thought I would ask in case I was wrong. ;)

Well, I do happen to have your SE 2.0......if it would help, I would consider uploading them to Demonoid so you could concentrate on your Coffret THX release.

I would probably need to know how exactly to rip it and your 2.0 tech specs and information so I could post them for people asking questions.

It's just a suggestion anyways......

The Special Editions. Hard to come by online these days. There are tons of Pre-SE copies floating around. Wouldn't hurt to release them second IMHO.

I have started uploading my '97 SE Star Wars (ANH) to a.b.sw my ISP recently upped their upload speeds so hopefully this will be done in a day or two. I will then upload the rest of the '97 SE before moving onto the THX Coffret set.

Speaking of the THX Coffret set, I am just watching Jedi through now, assuming there are no problems that will be Jedi and the Coffret set as a whole complete YAY! :D

Those of you who have requested screen shots I will try and post them tomorrow. ;)

Lee, do you mind if someone uploads these to a torrent site (i.e demonoid)?

Can't wait to see the '95 set eventually! This set looks awesome. I really liked your '97 SE set, so I can imagine the great work you've done with the other one.
