No insult to whoever did that particular clip but the music is a bit all over the place.

Was Artoo really channeling the heroic spirit of the Skywalker family when trundling over to the Falcon or was that a leitmotif malfunction too far?

Ady's take as it stands works remarkably well with the his edit but I would like to see/hear what it's like using the choir-less Battle Of The Heroes just out of pure curiosity.

Ooo. Well, I know you said you weren't taking suggestions, but I feel I have to speak up as a modern moviegoer.

I think you should have the characters step in large piles of dung every once in a while. I think the kids would really go for that.

You might also re-dub some of the aliens with a hip new language. You know, for the kids to imitate. It could be the next big thing!

Chewie also seems like the type that breaks wind a lot. Just saying.

This is great news. Ady's commitment to this project is incredible.

How much work will be involved. Have you got elements backed up from the original that can be re-used? I think I remember reading that you deleted a load because you needed the space..

All of the elements he would have had would have been at 480, so they'd have to be recreated anyway.

My hope is that the OOT footage is on the Blu in some form so Ady can just pull from there for scenes like the Trooper Roadblock so Ady doesn't have to recreate that whole scene like he did for AOUR.

Ady, if you're going to make corrections for the Blu-Ray, please note my post from Page 348 (post #8690)

I don't dabble in video editing but are there things like element tracking / colour levels and settings that can be scaled up or applied to 720P video?

And the audio won't change.

If he's got the new CG elements that can just be re-rendered right?

You could be right about the tracking information. He'd just have to recreate what is being tracked. Hopefully he has the lightsaber and laser files, that would be nice to already have...

I was going to leap through the screen and punch you for making suggestions, Ripplin, but then I kept reading.  lol.

Okay, everyone, time to pitch in to the Adywan Fund so that he can get a couple of 2TB external drives on which to store these project files. :-)

External drives are actually getting damn near dirt cheap. A few years ago I would have laughed at the thought, but it wouldn't take much. Ady needs archives LOL/

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I remember cringing about that at the time. Pls don't delete anything else like that - I'd rather send u spare h/ds than see your hard work be deleted.

There will be some differences because i can't recreate it 100% faithfully but it will be as close as possible.  But i won't be taking any suggestions for changes/ fixes for the HD version

adywan, I'm delighted that you've decided you'd like to do this one day, after all.  And while things are bound to end up looking a little different in places compared to the current edit...it's going to be an absolute treat to see some of the things that you hope to improve on, when you eventually get around to your 'Star Wars Revisited:Special Edition' HD version in a few years time.  And I hope you'll keep some of the specific details under wraps as usual! ;)

I certainly understand why you wouldn't want to open the floodgates to all the old issues of 'Star Wars Revisited' being brought up again, while your concentrating on the rest of the trilogy first...and since you already know what you want to include anyway.  However, I discovered the current edit just a little too late to be able to offer a few additional issues that were never brought up beforehand...and although I've never mentioned them to yourself or anyone else, I sure hope to get the opportunity to go into them at *some* future point, this time around, to see what you reckon.

Plenty of time before any of that though, as there's lots of other 'revisited' goodness to concentrate on for now...

Regardless of how different certain changes are, I am positive they will be for the better.

So i must be the only one in the world who has never owned a copy of revisited despite watching clips on youtube.  I had a question about this and Empire strikes back did Adywan fix the problem with the garbage mattes?

They will be all too apparent in the blu rays at a resolution of 1080P when they are very bad on a properly calibrated tv at 480P.

They were made worse by Lowry's clean up when they were always there in the cinemas, and very noticeable on laserdisc if less so on vhs because of low quality image.

Absolutely, and you really need to try and get a hold of the dual-layer version of 'Star Wars Revisited' to appreciate the full glory of how things look (and sound) on his edit.

Adywan, once again I would like to say I'm really glad you are going back to this instead of moving on to TPM after ROTJ. The prequels are fine in my mind the way they are, forgotten. But if you are going to do ROTJ in 1080p then maybe you should go back and do ANH and ESB in 1080p too, just kidding. But why don't you try to do ANH in 1080p first and see if it works? After all, if you can do ROTJ in 1080p I don't see why ANH will be a problem, obviously you've invested too much into ESB in 720p to go back and do that, but since you are starting ANH from scratch again, why not go for the full 1080p resolution?

I always felt like the music during the lightsaber battle didn't quite fit and the CGI shots done by "Will" of the Tie Fighters coming in on the attack of the Death Star, look a little to fake, but still better than before with just those 6 coming in when the have this huge battle station was really ridiculous.

Are you sure though that you want to make this announcement official? On second thought, maybe you should just do ROTJ in 720p so it is all consistent now? I know you said you have a computer now that can handle it, but rendering in 720p will take a lot less time and you don't notice a whole lot of difference in quality between 720p and 1080p in my experience.
