The Clone Wars messes up continuity or how Lucas is still destroying star wars. — Page 2

It's very difficult to boot without legs, generally speaking.

I stopped watching Clone Wars last year (is it a bad sign when they can't keep politics out of kid's show?).  But I actually liked the Mandalorian story line.  It acknowleged that back in the day (1980) Fett wore "Mandalorian armor."  He had WOOKIE SCALPS and supposedly the Mandalorians HUNTED JEDI.  Never said HE was Mandalorian.

Now I don't know what EU crap has come up about Fett and his kin, but Clone Wars did a nice nod to what was old-school Star Wars folk lore.  And I believe that the show runners said as much.

Kind of like how for all of it's other problems it was actually kind of cool that "Sith" found it's way back into Star Wars.  When I was a kid you hardly ever said "Darth Vader" without finishing in ominous undertones "DARK LORD OF THE SITH".  Then he somehow became Luke's dad and that all went to hell.

Now if someone can make sense of the line "helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights".  Somehow I never got "killed a room full of kids while the stormtroopers slaughtered all of the grown ups" from that.

The politics are over for the rest of the season. You can watch the last episode now.

The first half of this season was pretty slow with a lot of politics. =P But this second half is gonna really pick up especially with this nightsister trilogy that just started.

I like the political dealing episodes more then the action focused ones...  With action episodes, I can drop out, and at the end whom ever is left standing, good for them.  With the political episodes (which don't go far enough in creating a vibrant universe) you need to pay some attention to find out who's manipulating who and what actions are causing this and that to take place, why certain groups function as they do.

And here I thought I was the only one watching the series.

Yeah no, I actually really enjoy the political episodes myself as well.

There are a few of us here who watch it, though it's never discussed for some reason. =P

Karen Traviss was right they completely destroyed the mythology built up carefully over thirty years plus in the EU.

As far as I'm concerned, the EU destroyed it's own mythology.

Sure, the PT threw a wrench into the mix and messed everything up. But the EU writers could have found ways of working around and subverting that. Instead, though, they embrace all of Lucas' bullshit and crank it up a thousand fold. Take a look at the Legacy books or comics - they're perfect examples of the GL sycophancy that runs rampant within the ranks of the EU writers.

Oh, and to bring this post to a close, here's the worst Dork Age Sith name I've come across yet : http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Darth_Scabrous

I watch the series too. I kind of like the political episodes. Sure, its not Star Wars, but it makes the universe a bit more real.

For me The Clone Wars series feels much more like Star Wars than the PT films and just as Star Warsy as the better Marvel comics.

I don't have a problem with using political storylines, Star Wars is very much a political story on so many levels.

I don't see why politiking couldn't be SW.  It would be a departure, but not that big a leap.  The Clone Wars for the first time, gives some representations to the General Public, a major factor missing from the politics of the SW movies.  There's never any will of the citizenry, which makes the stories quaint.  The problem with the SW politics right now, is there hasn't really been a case where both sides have legitimate greivances, and the issues doesn't get resolved by some murders or wars.  Understand Wars are integral, but if you want a more vibrant political investigation and conclusions, might need to give up on some of the things held dear.  Wars not make one great...

Whoah whoah whoah... did you just lump the Legacy books and comics together?  You know they have absolutely nothing to do with each other, right?  And that they Legacy comic, in one disgruntled SW fan's opinion, is actually quite awesome?

I read the first and sixth volumes of the Legacy series, and although I found the Cade character somewhat interesting, the 2-dimensional Maul-knockoffs and other repetitive junk I've come to hate from the EU overpowered anything remotely engaging and turned me right off.

It always was very clear to me that the EU, even when approved by Lucas, could be thrown away at any moment Lucas wants to make something "SW canon", like new movies and TV series.

In other words I never took the EU as SW canon. I'm surprised you did Skyjedi ;)

the only pieces outside of the OT films I have enjoyed are  Rebel Mission to ord mantel and droid world.  Believe it or not the clone wars show on cartoon network is much better than the PT films. Anakin is actually like-able and behaves like a noble mature jedi knight.  A shame it is a little to late to do the right thing now.

Sure, the million Darths is less than inspired.  I found more to like in it than you did apparently.

Wait, you read the first TPB and then the sixth?  What happened to 2-5?  3 Is probably the best, by the way.  Can you really say you gave it a shot when you've read #1 and #6?

I only read the sixth volume because it was part of the Vector storyline. I wouldn't have bothered with it otherwise.

Vector intrdouced time travel to star wars, absolutely horrible, as bad as the novel crosscurrent.

Wait I'm wrong it was Kevin Anderson who introduced time travel to star wars in the jedi academy trilogy as a ham fisted way to tie it in with the comic books sith wars.
