i used to not ever being able to understand Yoda on his death bed

Here's the opening of Jedi that I'd love to see. It's quite close to what Possesed is working on for his edit, but still different. I'm no good at posting pics to show exactly what I'm talking about, but I hope you can follow.

Opening text would have to be altered to mention that Luke has returned to Dagobah to continue his training.

After opening text, we pan down to Darth Vaders Super Stardestroyer near the uncompleted Death Star.

Cut to Darth Vader in his mediation chamber talking to Luke telepathically through the force urging him to join him on the darkside.

cut to the deleted scene of Luke in the cave working on his new light saber. Edit the exterior of the cave to resemble Dagobah. Luke shakes the voice in his head and continues working and then igniting his saber.

Cut back to the Super Stardestroyer and we see Vader's shuttle leave for the Death Star (why was he leaving from a standard Stardestroyer originally?) continue to the original opening scene with Vader and Jerrod.

After that, cut to Yoda's hut on Dagobah for Yoda's death scene. After Luke says "So I am a Jedi." Cut Yoda's line about having to face Vader again and just cut to him saying "When gone am I, the last of the Jedi will you be." This way we get the idea that Luke has continued and now finished his training with Yoda. Yoda dies then cut to the Emperors arrival on the Death Star, removing the scene with Obi-Wan.

This would give the beginning of the film a more menacing tone with Vader still haunting Luke and more of a build up to the action at Jabba's palace. Agree? Disagree?

I'm actually really digging that idea. The lightsaber building scene is also a great way to introduce the "new" Luke.

 Enthusiastically agree.

Yeah someone mentions that on that site, but its a nice meshe, the first page of the thread shows it a bit more 'SW'-ish.

Kind of looks like a spherical version of the Borg cube from First Contact (especially given its proximity to earth).

Of course, I just posted that to stay on topic while I WIP MY HAIR BACK AND FORTH.

But it does look kinda cool. And a lot different than the one in ANH.

I guess it's subjective. I think it looks lame and fake.

Also, it doesn't look that different than the one in ANH. There's no way you could put this thing in a film and not have people saying "looks like a lame Death Star."

Maybe you were being sarcastic?

No. I'm dead serious. If they put more detail into it and if it was more photo-realistic - it would look awesome. Like a giant eye ball or something. They could call it The DeathBall.

Just watched The family guy ROTJ parody and I was a bit surprised at how bad ass Seth McFarlane felt he needed to make the ewoks. I found it rather interesting that a guy who's intent is to parody the film, couldn't disguise just how much he hates the ewoks......to the point that he barely made any jokes about them at all, and instead chose to just alter their character in the film instead. He even goes as far as making their weapons more effective against the stormtroopers. It was nice to see actual arrow penetration, and spear thrusts that connect. Hell, some of the ewoks even died in battle. Its odd to say it, but its almost ewoks the way I wish they had been done (if we have no choice to take ewoks over wookiees that is). The best change has got to be the scene right at the end where the ewoks are celebrating their victory while a couple of them go around the field of battle, systematically mercy killing the wounded imperials "Braveheart style". Adywan, if you haven't watched it yet, I'd definitely recommend it....sometime before you start working on ROTJ ;)

Holy smokes this is an enormous thread! The thought of backtracking through hundreds of pages to see if anyone has made the same suggestions as me is just way too daunting. So apologies all around if all of this has been mentioned before.

Tattooine:

Cut "Jedi Rocks" and restore "Lapti Nek"

Keep the new scene with Oola in the Rancor pit, it really heightens the suspense of what's down there seeing her reactions but not the Rancor.

No more Fett flirting.

Remove the Sarlacc beak and pig squeal. The Sarlacc is way scarier when it's this giant tooth filled maw leading god knows where.

Add sabre wounds to the guards Luke hits.

edit out some Salcious cackles.

Han Solo isn't funny, perhaps remove some of the lame attempts to make him funny during the Skiff battle "Boba Fett? Boba Fett? WHERE?!"

No belching after Boba is dispatched

Can Boba be saved possibly? Just a thought

Restore Han Solo's line "It's all right, trust me"

Ray_Afraid had a really stupendous idea for a new opening with Luke on Degobah building his sabre. If that's possible that would be a killer way to open the film.

Endor:

No slapstick. Han doesn't step on twigs, etc.

Ewoks. They're lame, please downplay them.

Could there possibly be implied more Ewok fatalities? I think scenes of Ewoks dying and Ewok corpses would really make the battle much more dramatic and desperate. The Ewoks seem to breeze through the battle mostly unscathed, which is ludicrous when they're up against energy weapons and explosives without the protection of any kind of armour.

Space Battle:

There's not much to say about the space battle, it's almost perfect. I might suggest having a ship or two not manage to pull up in time upon their arrival and show them crashing into the energy shield.

Finale:

No celebration on Coruscant. That was the seat of Imperial power. The people living there are not the oppressed masses of the rest of the galaxy. Not to mention that just because the Emperor is dead and the Death Star is destroyed doesn't mean that the Imperial Government has ceased to exist. It's going to take the rebels years to finally wrest power away from the Imperial government.

As much as I have a soft spot in my heart for the Yub Yub song, it's very silly and I think the new celebration music from the SE's is more fitting.Either that or Jefferson Starship ;)

Original Anakin ghost please, no young Anakin.

Also, can we insert Rip Torn tossing confetti at the Ewok celebration? ;)

You can get a bit of a precise of the whole thread by clicking on doubleofive's collection of the ideas from here buried in my signature.

Sadly SSWR's videos have been taken down for personal reasons but it's a good way of catching up on many of the ideas in this thread.

Nicely done. I think that perhaps a streaking or skid effect to the explosions might sell it even further that these ships are plowing into the surface of the shield. Just a thought.

Most of the things that I would want changed or altered has already been mention but as I was watching a high quality version of ROTJ I notcied something that struck me funny. Hopefully my picture shows on here:

I hadnt noticed this before but there are Imperial Probots scattered on the right side of the Emperors' shuttle also a Tie Fighter hanging in the background:

If you watch this scene closely you can see a couple of imperials messing around in the back ground and one putting his sunglasses on.

Hope this link works Im a noob on here so please be patient with inability to know all things.

I am glad someone see's "It's a Trap" the same way I did. You missed the part where Peter freaks out and says he sick of the cute s#*t and makes the Imperials dig their own graves!!! ahhaahah awesome!

In addition to the ewoks riping apart imperials etc... I liked how they handled the sarlacc pit battle with Luke. Limbs and body parts every where. I hope adywan feels he needs to add this.

The sarlacc pit battle as it stands has Luke using his lightsaber as a nerf bat. Only once does it cut through a character (gamorean).

I am liking the new intro idea with the cut to Luke and Vader conversation.

I think the death star II will remain the same. It is pretty iconic as it is and Ady doesn't fix what is not broken. It definetly needs to be recomposited in every one the shots. Especially the opening shot where it tracks with the camera.

Yeah, the Death Star II is just fine the way it is....but theres a definite lack of believeable violence and an overabundance of cuteness. Jedi was phoned in, and hopefully Ady does only whats necessary to make it feel like a proper star wars movie

Nice to hear that some of you like my Opening idea.

Didn’t I read that Adywan is going to be shooting live action troops to the Endor battle to replace the ewok stuff? I can’t remember where I saw that, can anyone confirm?

Yes, Adywan said he was going to film new scenes with the Rebel Commandos. They get forgotten in the forest battle and is the easiest way to "decute" the Endor battle scenes without CGI use.

The nice thing is that it will probably Ming and his crew. Who I believe are in California. Thus, they can actually go back to "Endor" the Redwood forest of Nortern California and film in the same spots.

A guy up in Seattle owns parts of the original Endor Bunker that was used. They are made of plywood and would be easy to replicate... or have him transport down to use again.

Thus, Ady and the crew, (I would volunteer to go down and help if they let me) could make some very convincing and realistic battle scenes with stormies/Imps and Rebel Commandos duking it out.

Sounds awesome... on paper.

Making those new shots/scenes fit into an old movie and also maintain the Star Wars atmosphere will be quite a challenge.
