Wow. I had no idea there was such a heated debate going on here.

Hehe, sorry if I sounded tought.

No, actually I was more supporting D_J's huge effort restoring and making available those films in - as far as I understand - perhaps the best shape you'll find.

Just observing this irony that it is at the very end of the project that "great ideas" show up.

I like to rant a bit in such cases, don't take it bad, I like to put a few sarcasms when needed. And notice that I care only that D_J is making great things with this, meaning I'm more interested in his effort than to see the result, hence my modest participation to his set.

I hope the best for him, and I hope there will be as much feedbacks for his projects than there have been people watching his thread ! You don't know how much it is rewarding (or frustrating, depending on people's choices to... "share"... Something, or not). ;)

Hey, fair enough, I guess I shouldn't have said anything.

It just seemed to me that since such a major effort was being made to catalog every last audio mix (which seems beyond the scope of just presenting the "theatrical experience"), why not include the one extra two minutes of video that was not covered on this project, or on an official dvd.

Frankly, I have been planning on adding the second crawl for myself anyway.  I wondered what DJ or others would think.  That's it.  I didn't intend to frustrate anyone.

If I had some gum, I’d chew a hole into the sun…

Actually, I really wonder !

Kratos from the God of War games.

And I'm already 2/3 done with your first set of RARs, DJ.  But if they don't work, thanks for posting the new ones - that's the style of split-RARs I'm used to.

--edit--

For the record, I don't think a selectable crawl is a bad idea.  I just think that it adds on even more work for DJ when he's been working his ass off on this project, and I completely understand if he doesn't want to add to that.

Okay, the unRARing worked (I just had to change the extension for the first file, as I thought), but I can't seem to be able to view the file.  It appears you used Lagarith, right, DJ?

Does anyone know of a way to get Lagarith to work on a Mac?

It is not solely that I don't want to, it also is I don't know how, if I had a tutorial on how to do this with DVD Lab Pro I might give it a try just for shits and giggles, but this crawl looks no where near as good as the V3, big difference.

Yes it is Lagarith, I thought a lossless avi file might be better so people can encode it or do whatever to it the way they wanted to, so what works on your system ChainsawAsh?

How big would it be as an uncompressed AVI?  Would that be too much to deal with?

Alternatively, I can just throw it on a thumb drive and take it home with me over Thanksgiving and transcode it on my brother's computer.  That might be the easiest thing all around.

On the contrary vegetables can make one great. ..."How you get so big with foods of this kind ?"

- Ok, I stop there ;)

I'll give transcoding a shot over Thanksgiving, and if it doesn't work I'll let you know.

Did you run it through the avisynth script?

I have not, but the people that want to use it can.

I really dig the covers and dvd labels Leguman! I wish there was a different symbol to use for the Jedi disc, but there aren't any other logos in the OT and it works well what with the 'rebels win, empire wins, rebels win' that happens in the films. Nice work!

Actually there is a third symbol that appears in ROTJ. It's tattooed on Jabba's arm and is supposed to be that of his clan:

Well, yeah, there are other symbols in the films besides the Rebel and Empire logos, (the Mandellorian skull or whatever immediately springs to mind) but they don't have strong ties to the main characters and events that our story is following.

How about using the logo of the New Republic?
It was created shortly after the Battle of Endor, so it would still suit the timeframe of ROTJ.

EDIT: It's still the same logo, but at least it stands out just a bit more.

I must say it looks right in the actual spirit of "you know who" 's buiseness (not mentioning the target crowd). It is certaily not in the one of D_J's effort. ;)
