I'm glad this was just a goof on us, but regardless, it sure is purdy.

Well the pic was inspired by and old ESB publicity shot

Awwww man.....I loved that Nebula shot, it was a great homage to both the publicity shot (which I thought of instantly when I saw your "fake" capture) and the theatrical release.

So just for my own sanity...are they in a galaxy looking at a galaxy (within a galaxy) or are they outside of a galaxy looking at a galaxy? Im so confused.

This has turned into such a huge debate cause I to would think that if they were outside of a galaxy looking at a galaxy that the light from it would drown out any light from the other stars (Right or wrong? Im not a science major by any means) which is why the nebula idea gave me such a relief. And yes I know Star Wars doesnt have to go by reality but it is interesting nonetheless.

Thanks for giving me hope and then scattering them to the winds :-)

Ady your jokes are funny but sooooo mean,  ;-)

Actually, all I can see when I see that publicity picture is how Luke's robe actually has a color. Thanks 2004 DVD, for taking all of the color out of the movie.

Actually in any shot with a planet or a bright hull (most, in Star Wars) you wouldn't see stars either.

Ady, put me in the "I don't care what the reason is, leave the galaxy alone" camp.

Actually, that's not true. Galaxies are surprisingly dull to the naked eye. And think about it this way, how can a neighbouring galaxy drown out the light of another galaxy that you're actually closer to (the one you're in)? If that really were a galaxy at that apparent distance, it would be much, much dimmer and hazy in appearance. I think we've all been spoiled by decades of ever-more beautiful astronomical photography which is so rarely true-colour or luminosity. The Sun is approximately 100 times further away than it is in diameter. Proportionally, the Andromeda Galaxy would have to recede tenfold from its current position, at which point it would be invisible to the naked eye. So that gives you a very (very) simple idea of how much feinter galaxies are in reality.

While I wouldn't like to see the fleet as large as the one assembled at Sullust it would be a pleasure to have an SE where the fleet we see is a little larger and more defined for the few moments we see it on screen.

I agree. I think I read that Ady doesn't wanna put the Calamari ships in the scene, but I think some more Blockaderunners, transports, frigates and such should be present. If I understand correctly, this is where the Rebellion is hiding since they were forced to leave Hoth. I personally would love to see the Calamari ships here, and maybe even show the galaxy/forming star thing during the briefing scene in Jedi to show that this is still the rebel fleets hiding spot.

As if i would change something as iconic as the imagery of the end scenes

Ady do you plan on fixing R2's colours and Luke's robe colour?

R2's colouring has been fixed and Lukes robe only appears a lot more coloured in the promotional shot because they have boosted the reds/yellows to make 3po appear more golden. You can see that the colouring i have for the robe in this shot matches the GOUT

I know the GOUT looks like that, but my brother told me in the theatrical release of ESB it was a light brown. I dunno, he could be wrong.

Ady, can you maybe put him in a Bermuda shirt? With R2 serving cocktails? I don't buy that R2's waitressing duties on the sail barge were the first time he'd done it. Bit of foreshadowing?

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I was going to bring this picture up, but I couldn't find it on my hard drive.  I suppose I could have scanned it again, from my vintage Empire Strikes Back Storybook or the ESB OST record, but I got lazy.

Honestly, either background works for me.

Due to unforeseen reasons, I haven't been around this thread since well over 2 and a half months, and am still wading through the last 50 pages (!) since then, to catch up.  However, I was very sorry to read about the developments with your dad adywan, and wish you both well.

I also see we've gained a few new faces along the way, so "Hi" to those...and seem to have "lost' some too, as I see Jay and Moth3r are rightly on the case, lol.

I'm hoping to comment on a couple of other recent things brought up soon, but here's a little detail for now.  It's not a significant thing, but it's one of those little inconsistencies that catches my eye every time...

To put it in context, here's a sequence of shots that are seen in approx. 1 and a half mins. of each other in screentime -

To begin with, the X-wing's lights give off a 'white' glow to things...

...but when we then cut to the shot below, the 'X-wing's light now gives off a distractingly 'orange' glow, compared to the previous shots and the following shots that come after it...  Now I realise that the 'orange' glow shot below actually shows the water more and has a lot less 'mist' than the next shot which comes just a few seconds after it, but I reckon things would tie-in a lot better if the 'orange' glow could at least be 'whitened'-up.  See what you think...

The first shot has the light partially submerged which is lighting up the muddy water creating the orange/brown glow. Then the ship moves and you can see that this wing raises up slightly and the light is no longer submerged, so we have the white light and is more illuminating. In fact the very first time we see the xwing set should have the orange glow added as the ship doesn't move before this.

Question tho. Isnt the Imperial shuttle (needa's shot) be good to be followed by two tie fighters?

As if Vader wants to make sure Needa won´t take the chance and run away before reporting to him? ;) Poor Needa probably knew he wouldn´t make it back...

Serious, now, it kinda looks out of place Needa having a escort to the Executor, even being a star destroyer captain but that´s just me... what surprised me on the dreaded SE was that Vader´s shuttle didn´t have a escort on the unfamous shots added during the Falcon scape, afterall, with all panic and whatnot during the evacuation of Cloud City, someone could think it was a good idea to try shooting the big bad guy there... :D

That's a good point about Vader's shuttle being unprotected. A single Cloud Car could've taken him out! And I agree that Needa wouldn't need a fighter escort to go to the Execcutor.

What I never understood was, why doesn't Captain Needa just beam over?

Wrong show, Lem. ;-)

On topic, Needa doesn't need an escort because is the middle of a fleet with fighters flying around in other shots. Besides, he's just a capitan. ;-)

Needa doesn't need a Lambda shuttle, he's just a captain.....something smaller would suffice.

You should change it to Needa taking an escape pod and being intercepted, then brought to Vader :P
