The Empire Strikes Back IMPERIAL "AUDIOPHILE" EDITION - Restored & Remastered Score - J. Williams & LSO (Released) — Page 4

I am very glad to have this.  A B C, I can officially tell you that this set is now the ONLY version I have on my playlist!  All the rest have been retired!  My THX Certified speaker system reproduces this with absolute perfection.  The pitch, tone, highs, lows, mids, EVERYTHING, are just flawless my friend!

This sound experience takes me back to the premiere in 1980.  My sister Carol, who unfortunately passed away a year later, took me to see the film at a local theater that had been renovated and updated with Dolby.  This set took me back there, and I am grateful to you for making it happen, A B C.

Thank you sir.  This is how the score should have been presented to us from day 1.

That's very touching indeed, thank you for sharing it.

Whether it be music, film, etc, the power to be deeply moved and even transported back somewhere of personal meaning should never be underestimated.

Cheers :)

Thanks for your words.

I just wanted to say I built the liner notes, covers, etc... working on these one hour here, one hour there, and I've made my best to check for any faults at the end but I couldn't involve myself on this work as much as before. It would reassure me to know I haven't made too much faults (not only spelling but formulation). Any thoughts, go ahead (even if it's over). That said, the sobriety and the black and white have been volontary.

At a glance, I haven't seen any typos yet, A B C.

I always get excited when you finish one of these projects, ABC.

Please send me a PM.

Good stuff.

You're cute but you could have begun with doing so yourself.

Hi ABC,

I'm new here, and I always loved the Empire Strikes Back (it's a pity that the RCA version of the set had a not so good master). I would love to hear your remastered version... Could you please tell me how I can obtain the files?

Thank you!

I would be very interested to hear this version. Sounds like it is indeed the definitive version to have. I absolutely love the cover art also - very classy. I agree that this is one of the all-time great film scores. I've loved it since I was 10 years old when I owned the original 2-record set. Can you send a pm my way?

I believe you're just supposed to pm ABC for the links. That's what I did.

I might be addicted to calzones.

ABC is not there anymore (or just comes and goes). However there will be hopefully some dudes around still preserving the links and there may be always some nice guys watching, so don't hesitate to use that thread for both requests & feedbacks. ;)

Check your pm's.

I have received the links. Thanks!

Replying to this, originally posted in a different thread:

Speaking about noise, I'm sure you can clear a few things back here to make the OP readable again: http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/The-Empire-Strikes-Back-IMPERIAL-AUDIOPHILE-EDITION-Restored-Remastered-Score-J-Williams-LSO/topic/11871/page/1/

And now please accept my sincere apologies. I have no idea how far my profile change screws up the site's logistics (if it does).

Jay has said that he is working on a forum option that would allow us to merge all four (?) of your accounts. This will fix the transparency issue.

Yeah. My only grip is that ABC was good to speak about what he's done. Leguman doesn't even touch an equalizer, believe it or not... Each one/time his own task.

But I see what you did here ;)

When they are merged, I hope they will be called ABC again.  I'm not as fond of this Vegman.

By the way, there's no transparancy issue as far as I'm not going to post in this thread anymore. Just someone replied to my request last week about a link of mine I lost and I thought it was worth mentionning above that indeed, some nice people still reply to requests although this thread "looks" dead.

Why won't I post in this thread anymore ? Let me quote this discussion with Tallguy:

Tallguy said:

ABC, I'm not sure I'm following why you left and now have a different username, but what does this mean for the status of The Empire Strikes Back Audiophile Edition?

...

I replied:

Looks like enthusiasm about this work on the Empire score have totally fell, perhaps because the 30th anniversary is passed, perhaps because one more version was too much for followers.

I adverted I would move on since the begining of the topic, after that I adverted I'd take pm's for two weeks and move on, and that's what I did.

I always acted relying on people's judgement around here: is this work worth ? Then let's make it turn (requests/pm's). I've made it, I've uploaded it, then I consider it's no more up to me to maintain the thread(s). Looks like it has never been obvious for no one, and I'm afraid many may take such an attitude for despise or such. If it's the case I'm sorry, they just don't know how much it costed me to fulfil this work, speaking only about my cheap bad functioning equipment (things I wouldn't have been confronted to for a private only purpose).

And I've said it since the beginning: I was just passing through with these sound works. The best thing I'm glad about is D_J bring it to your knowledge through the bonus DVD we made together ! :) That's the best of it.

... Right now I just registered to send my contact to D_J.

To be "transparent" further, just letting people know I've precisely registered again this time in reply to a call, here.

----

I wonder if you're trying to point me out like a twisted user Moth3r, as it's the second time in a week you've been looking like doing so. I do hope things are clear between you and I now, and toward any one reading here.

Thanks for your comprehension.

Thanks again to all the people who supported this project. ;) I'll be reading as a visitor now if there's a chance to see new feedbacks from time to time.

ABC/whoever you are now,

Just want to say thanks for all the hard work. It sounds great. Every release is better than the last.

Is there any chance of Gerhardt remastered concert suites from your Film Edit set resurfacing? Would be interesting to hear.

Thanks. Always a pleasure to read from people able to weight the improvement from a step to another. :)

The only chance would be that someone pm you one of these past works (the "Optimum Editions" v2 & v3 had some of these tracks too). I haven't kept any of those for myself, even on physical CDs.

I'll sell my Gerhart CD version ASAP besides cause if this 1980 recording is indeed great, both the performance and the mastering are a torture to me now.

After going thru all the pages of both this thread and the "audiophile" thread, let me just start by saying to ABC : Thank You!

Its people like you and Adywan that have kept the fire around a certain film franchise burning while the people who are in charge seem to keep wanting to just pour water on it.

I've been a lurker here on and off for a few years. I've run across many threads of people with passion for a certain project, (i'm still awaiting a certain fan edit of Ep III).  It reminds me of a paraphrase of something GL said some time in the past. Something along the lines of he was making Star Wars because it was the kind of movie he wanted to see, and if it did well then more people would make films like it so He could enjoy those films.

As can be witnessed with the fan edit explosion, one person's passion can very easily fuel another's.

So for all of us that just mainly sit on the sidelines, I'm offering my thanks. Your hard work is appreciated & applauded.

Would I like to be able to listen to this outstanding project?

Take it from a kid on vacation in Houston the summer of 1980 that pleaded with his parents to take him to see Empire, waiting in line to get the far right seats on the front row. I still remember what the sky looked like that evening walking out of the theater....looked like Bespin.

That's a yes, if some one is feeling generous.

Okay. Thanks anyway. I won't give up hope. Maybe someone who held on to it here will see it and send a PM my way.

How come you don't keep your stuff? It should be like... of historical importance. lol
