All this talk of yellow subs is making me nervous.

I've never seen any Star Wars film with yellow subtitles.  Ever.

(Excepting DJ's GOUT V1, of course.)

Obviously you have never had a TPM VHS copy.

Not everyone agrees that TPM is a Star Wars movie.

Just wanted to take this moment to say that on the 1977-1981 technicolor dye print that I saw in Baltimore this year, Greedo's subs were yellow.

Thanks for the info, very interesting! It would be great to have some pics from it, not because I'm not believing you, more to see what else they changed about them in '81.

Edit: Damn! what was I thinkin, that was a '77 print! Then this may prove the bootleg telecine and 16mm subs not theatrical authentic. Weird, a photo or filming of that screening backing this up would be really welcome. Are you sure about this, timdiggerm?

DO NOT WORRY, I will NOT put yellow subs in there.

... True that I don't see the use:

Yeah, I had the widescreen TPM VHS, and it had the white subs, as pictured above.

I just wanted to mention one thing about the revised colortiming and contrast levels on the binary sunset that was done on this transfer in '93, dark_jedi and I talked about it, but opted to leave it alone as there is one major problem, a wipe to the garage at the end of the scene. I believe that is something you cannot treat easily within avisynth scripting unfortunately.

I don't know why the difference then, but I clearly remember my TPM VHS copy having yellow subtitles. Maybe it was a European thing?

Yeah I am pretty sure mine had yellow ones too, from the UK.

Actually, gonna try and see if I can find it!

DissolveAGG might be best since it provides a wipe with a soft edge.

Set one side as the default color balance, and the other clip with the altered colored balance and try to match the wipe speed.

Fiddly to pull off, but do-able.

Thanks, Doctor M!

Sounds very hard to pull off, will check it out.

Dark_jedi, are you going to alter the resizing values in G-Force's scripts to prevent horizontal resizing?  With the greatest of respect to G-Force, the values in the scripts are simply wrong, as they needlessly stretch perfectly good picture, shifting it into the overscan area.  It would be much better not to resize horizontally.

With all do respect Chewtobacca, this is 2010
You should as well as most people on this board should have a TV/monitor that will accept/do 1:1 pixel mapping

(since they are demanding the best possible GOUT transfer, 4k scans, and digital prints sent to their doorstep.....why the hell would they ask for such if they have a shitty TV that doesnt even do 1:1 pixel mapping?)

Yeah Chewtobacca. It's 2010. Poor people don't exist anymore. Shesh. Get with it already.

I was ready for this dumb response and here is the correct reply

IF you dont have the appropriate display device to view these encodes/transfers, then what does it matter to you? You are the same person who cries that the OT isnt on Bluray but yet dont even have a Bluray player or HDTV.....

Edit: Next time, please understand my posts before you respond with a obvious dumb answer. If you have an older TV, then the GOUT is perfectly suited for such

My feeling is that the subtitles should reflect the original authenticity as much as possible. Basically, this script is being used as a "raw material" for people's own purposes. So, if you think the subs should be in the black bars and outside of overscan, you should take the script and edit it to display that way. But the starting point should be theatrical authenticity, which people can then modify for their own preferences.

I guess people who don't have the knowledge to edit the script will kind of get the shaft. But the alternative is shafting everyone not on CRTs, and non-CRTs are the majority now.

I guess this is in reference mainly to Gforce's script, since DJ could edit his how he sees fit. But I am always for theatrical authenticity.

Ha. Calm down guy. I didn't "complain" about anything. My set up is more than capable.

d_j, I noticed when doing the subs that the PAL version of Jedi have a different frame count, the PAL Jedi seems to be missing 26 frames at the end of the film compared to the NTSC version.

Are there any Windows 7 64 bit users here that really know this system in and out? I have run into a problem that needs fixing before I can go on, I rendered the lossless avi for the V2 Jedi SE during the day today and tonight I go to see if it is done and it is, well now my PC is in compatibility mode(have no idea how it even got in that mode, VDub does not need it) and it will NOT get back out, so now VDub won't even load any scripts, my screen is just green, and Vegas needs to be back in 64 bit mode to work, and that is what I do all my audio work in, so PLEASE if anyone has any ideas, let them roll.

Before anyone asks, don't worry ALL files are backed up, they are going no where.

I am hoping this is something I can fix, because if I have to format and put everything back on again, that will be a bitch!

Wow.

I have Windows 7 64 bit and I'd like to think I know my way around in it.  But, to be honest, I don't do much in the video department, other than simple things like ConvertXtoDVD.  I'd love to learn Sony Vegas someday and can get it, but that's for another discussion.

I wouldn't know how to reset things, other than a simple reboot and select "Run Windows Normally", but I imagine you have already tried this?

If I think of anything, I'll let you know, and good luck!

Erm, what do you mean PC is in compatibility mode? Compatibility mode is a per-program setting or am misunderstanding something?

If you mean that those programs are running in compatibility mode and you can't turn it of, look here in the registry

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers

and find the entries for the programs and simply delete them.
