Well after delving in a bit I can say - it doesn't feel like Halo 3 again, which is probably a fear wa all had.
I can't make up other peoples minds for them but I can say I'm pretty satisfied so far. I've sampled a few of the different areas and theres a good amount of content on offer.
A lot of things they took out are now back, I had to remember how to face off against elites again after the bothersome charging brutes of Halo 3.
I'm just running through on NORMAL atm and it feels challenging enough, I've died a handful of times. There hasn't been anything i've disliked and I don't miss the lack of things like duel wielding.
In the end - it's a sandbox kinda game, so it depends in part if you enjoy playing that way.
with new stuff and all of the things you liked remixed to be even better.
At present it feels something like
3 parts something new [new weapons, new enemies, new music etc...]
2 parts halo 1 [epic scenery, the general feel in part. ]
1 part halo 2 [classic fun weapons like lock on rocket launchers]
1 part odst [various features ie: night vision]
0 parts halo 3 [ie: none of the disappointments it brough]
- i'm only two missions deep thus far...
All I can suggest is - try it, see if you like it. Me - I'm having a great time.
