OK this is the last I'll do of this topic (you are all probably fed up with this) & as Angel has hinted at, perhaps Adywan has already addressed this scene (dunno??!!)

I didn't know if this would look good in motion, then I watched the clip you made and I really like it! And it fits in well with the devices used in the film- it's like a small version of the view screen Vader uses on his Stardestroyer. Not that the original hologram doesn't also fit in with Star Wars tech, but I would prefer this.

I'm liking the vader screen, I must say. I didn't think I would. What footage did you use for it? If there was a concern about reusing footage, there's plenty of Vader footage on the video for the Star Wars Interactive Boardgame (which has been converted to DVD by someone at some point)

Actually I'm struggling to think where you got that shot. Is it from the boardgame? lol

The Vader footage is masked from his conversation with Palps and the background is just before that scene when Piet tells Vader that Palps wants a chat, Vader marches off on the right of screen -  the left of screen has various Imperials moving about.

You can actually see Vaders cloak exiting on right of screen - forgot to mask:(

I see! Hadn't noticed so no damage done :p

I actually have the Board game I mentioned if Ady was to need some additional Vader footage for whatever reason. It's never been played so converting from that via a firewire VHS deck would no doubt result in as good a quality as you're going to get from a resource that old.

brash,

How much footage of Vader is there in the game? It's the one with David Prowse back in the suit, correct?

"Darth Vader... tall and threatening in his black helmet, flowing black cape, and a face, forever masked, by a foreboding metal breath screen...

Darth Vader... a figure, who moves forever in a cloud of awesome evil!"

I've never actually watched it (hence why it's still pristine) however I know there's a torrent of it floating about somewhere where someone's made it digital. I can't remember where I got it.....fanedit, myspleen any of the myriad other geeky websites I used to frequent......no clue.

I do, however, know that they got James Earl Jones back especially to record the new dialogue, just for the game.

Edit: Something tells me it was daveytod.

A quick google search also tells me it was indeed Dave Prowse in the suit, and that they also had the same Cinematographer that did the films. What an effort for (what I hear is) a crap board game.

You're correct.  I forget who, but someone has made this available that is a member here and I have it stashed on my backup drive for anyone that needs it.  I can't remember who it was, but it's a good transfer.

*EDIT*

I just checked and the files are mp3 only, so if you could transfer the video with higher quality audio, go for it!

I did this for fun. It doesn't have to be like this, I just felt like using the old photoshop.

It also shows Vader flying his own ship.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I like that one! Transparent screens were all the rage in Avatar ;-)

Nice 1 EyeShotFirst!!

If Ady were to use a heads-up-display, Veers' part of the scene would need cut as he looks down for his part of the conversation.

I prefer just a spruced up hologram.

There are almost no posts on this page that really concern Adywan's work anyway...

^And there's another one. ;)

And here's another one...

Sorry, Ady. :) We keep getting these lulls because it feels like everything has been said. We're just waiting for that next big idea that sparks some meaningful discussion.

I think it was a backup tape drive not a cassete player. A QIC (quarter inch cartridge) tape drive If I remember correctly... well it was a long time ago!
