I have only been monitoring this thread so far, and am not really interested in watching any more prequel edits, but I think TV's Frink is right.  Both sides have established their positions; what follows can only lead to argument rather than discussion.  Just wish The Cutter luck and leave it at that.

Anyways, I know there's nothing wrong with not liking an edit.  It's just that having Cutter pretty much say "Well look at this, the original film has bad cuts too, so mine are ok" is really annoying... it shouldn't be ok.  But whatever, I've stated my points.

Although I agree with your basic premise, you are making it more and more difficult to take your side in this matter.  When it comes to fanediting, there is no right and wrong.  If you don't like something, you don't have to watch it.  You still can watch the original, watch other fanedits, or make your own.

On fanedit.org, there is a quality control process.  Fanedits are approved or not approved.  On that site, it is valid to discuss whether or not cuts are done correctly and if a fanedit is worthy for inclusion on the site.

However, this is not fanedit.org.

Please, honestly, let it go.  We've made our points about how we feel.  If The Cutter is interested in making changes to address our points, it is worth continued discussion.  But right or wrong, he feels improvements are not possible without compromising his vision.

So let it go.

 Wel said Frink, totally agree!

You can never go home again, but i guess you can shop there.

One thing I will say about your last video, The Cutter. If you do intend to keep the changeling bit in there, you need to shorten the fade.

At the moment, because of it fading into the original "she" it sounds like he's saying "shangeling".

Thanks, I will see what I can do.

I little explanation about that : in this edit, Palpatine is not a changeling, he use the dark side to hide is true identity. Anakin just feel it and think it's because he is a changeling (Anakin have no idea of what can be done with the dark side...)

the most important reason why I chose this idea concern the logical progression of the movie :  see Palpatine new face is now expected...it's no more a surprised. It gives sense to the next sequence, we do not think : "wtf !! why his face change abruptly !?"

it makes more sense (IMO) than the perfect symetrical scars + yellow eyes + new evil voice...caused by the force lightning

plus rotten teeth, greyish hands, and a full head of hair!!  Not the sort of thing lighting would do...but what do I know!!!?!?

Yes !! I forgot this...omg

I don't like the concept of changeling, but I think that if Lucas introduced it on episode 2 with Zam wesell, it's because he wanted to use it for Palpatine...he changed his mind in the meantime.

rpve, just a little word to say that I do not hate you ! this is the path of the dark side : )

I have no doubt that if we were both in front of my computer our discussion would have been much easier.

these kind of "headlock" are the joy of forums !

Love what you're doing Cutter. I'd also like to see, if vaderios is up for it, what you two could do with new mattes to erase unwanted elements like the other jedi masters.

It could be ideal even subtle as death adding the iconic background sound that appears in the throne room in ROTJ (and somewhere else in ESB) to places like when palps gives the name to DV or to any senate rooms.

@The Cutter. I just notice that you crushed the levels in some of the frames when Palps hitting the lighting bolts. I really loved that! Keep these surprises coming. I also noted that you were add real lightning/storm sounds. I had to say that because i had this idea when i wanted to propose ideas for ROTJ. I like your way of approach ;)

I agree with Bingo that you should try redubing when is necessary. Especially to palps gimmicks.

Taking ideas from Brash_stryker's topic you can make clones sound more like OT. even adding the clicks when a sentence ends behind their helmet(as we see in ANH)

I can provide clean plates if you want as Tobar said. ;)

Use no limit as limitation!

Thank you !

I have searched all the way to improve this...the sound design allows many possibilities ! I am glad you notice this.

I used your idea in my new video :

Part - 8 Darth Vader first strike

Modificitions here mainly concern the sound and music. Why using arena music to illustrate the attack ot the Jedi temple ?...I don't like it.

Bob went down a similar route but I think your version just about nails it for me. Hopefully the two of you will borrow mercilessly from each other and come up with two really interesting new versions but both learning from each other and what has been done before.

Holy shit, this is amazing. I love how you've added that sound (though where is it from?)

Sorry Bingo, what do you mean ? I am french, my translator doesn't give me something understandable.

Brash_stryker, I extracted and cleaned up this sound from ESB (duel with Vader)

Thanks all !

I meant out of the two versions yours was closer (in my opinion) to perfection (though both were well done).

i did something similar to that a while ago:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KC9Xb-1w21w

The idea is here ! I am not alone to find that the original music don't works.

On your video, it's a little rough...the most difficult is to connect the start/end of the new music with all the sequences.

You may noticed that I have a created a new sound design for this sequence (for the clones marching etc)

i have a friend that composes music, he may be able to help with this scene

I am quite satisfied with the version I posted above. Only the OT soundtracks can give this "retro touch" that I wanted here

anyway thank you very much for your help

Here is a second version for Mace Confronts Palpatine / Sidious revealed

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fnK-O48z6Y

(I just noticed that there are small sound problems )

After long reflexion, I think there are certainly too much little modifications concentred on the same short sequence and this addition of small things may be disturbing.

Having my head in this sequence for so long, things seem natural to me, but I realized it could not be the case for everyone...and too much little modifications, too much imperfect additions (like dialogues) doesn't help.

So I decided to keep my radical approach but slow down on little things and make little concessions (my level of tolerance is now 0,1).

Thanks to those (rpve included) who helped me to realize this. Every comment here really help me to achieve a better edit without changing my vision...it's really constructive.

(good idea Jacobss to remove C-3PO)

This is one of Bob's earlier efforts so you need to come in half way to see his similar take on what you have done.
