Last line of episode 3?

But, I think they should end it, and I've said this before, with a tight close up of Anakin's battle scarred face and him breathing through respirators. Then have the Vader helmet lowered on his head from the top of the screen and, when the helmet is sealed, the respirator breathing becomes deeper like that of Vader in the OT. Quick cut to black and the credits and John Williams' famous theme music. Just my two Lincolns.

For fans of the 'Godfather' movies (together with Star Wars, the two greatest trilogies ever) you will no doubt be familiar with Michael Corleone's journey to the Dark Side in the first Godfather. He finally arrives at the Dark Side about three-quarters of the way into the movie, and I believe that the movie as a whole is much more powerful and effective because we then get to see the evil Michael and the trail of human wreckage he leaves behind after he has changed.
I think a similar formula would work extremely well in Episode III. Remember that the crux of the story is Anakin's descent into inhumanity, so it would be pointless to get all that out of the way early on. Equally, we also need a chance to see just what a bastard the young Darth Vader turns out to be after he assumes his new identity (we already know how wicked the older version is).
I think the final few scenes of The Godfather were great - the new, evil, heartless Michael killing off all his perceived 'enemies' and alienating his family and former friends. Who could ever forget the baptism scene, which was juxtaposed with the brutal killings of the heads of the 5 families, whilst Michael shamelessly professed his loyalty to God. Who knows, perhaps there could be a similar climactic scene in Episode III - during the baptism of Luke (since Anakin/Vader does not know of Leia), perhaps we will see Anakin and Palpatine's goons bumping off all the remaning Jedi (Samuel L should put up a pretty mean fight) whilst evil, heartless, cynical Annie still professes his belief in Good Side of The Force.
The very last scene of The Godfather was poignantly symbolic, where one of Michael's goons closes a door on his estranged wife Kaye, thus shutting her off from his new life of evil. Wouldn't it be great if the final scene of Episode III was something similar -perhaps Vader and his henchmen closing the door of a Star Destroyer on a heartbroken Padme, who realises she has lost her true love to the Dark Side.
It is conceivable that Padme could well survive Episode III. In ROTJ Leia tells Luke that she has vague memories of her 'real mother' and remembers that she was a deeply sad person. Even if Padme gets killed off, she will have to live long enough for Leia to grow to an old enough age to be able to have conscious memories of her.

O woe is me!!!
I really feel I am the ONLY person in existence to not want Anakin's transformation into Vader to be shown on screen!
I've probably said it many times before & will probably say it many times to come BUT I really, really feel this is a big mistake on George Lucas' part!
IMO, it will only further sully the OT. Way back in 1980 when I was a wee nipper the HUGE revelation that Vader was Luke's father terrified me!
Now IF this series of 6 films IS MEANT to be watched in chronological order (& I distinctly remember GL stating that he wanted people in years to come that had never watched the series, to be able to do so) then WHY ruin one of cinema's best plot twists???
The whole impact of that scene in Empire will be lost forever!
Imagine watching the series for the 1st time. Ok, you get to Episode 3 & see that a hideously disfigured Anakin is placed in a nice metal shiny suit complete with cool gadgets & flashing lights. 2 films later & where's the surprise??? I know its a slightly edited version of events but indulge me I've been awake for 36 hours & it's 7am GMT!
I know you're all gonna say "but EVERYONE knows Vader is Anakin". Well yes, I agree in part, this generation DOES know....but do the countless generations to come know? Don't they deserve to be as shocked as we once were?
Oh to hell with it, this argument ensuing inside my own head at this time is just making me wish that the Prequels had NEVEr been made & then that great moment would forever remain unsullied!
Tis a sad day for d-jj-d's everywhere & on that note as the room is spinning I am going to drown my sorrows in cold custard

Although I am a huge fan of the prequels, I think these things are poorly conceptionized when it comes down to GL's claim that "all six movies have to be perceived as one huge film" - heck, he even left out the jump-to-hyperspace cockpit view to preserve the wow effect of the original trilogy. The prequels are building far too much on the assumption that the audience already knows what transpired in the original trilogy.

My thinking is all along the lines of GL not showing the jump-to-hyperspace effect in the prequels to preserve those cool moments for the OT.
Don't get me wrongo, I love the prequels as they are and I really enjoyed how they incorporated the imperial march into the music it was very powerful to someone who already knows the OT (heh, I still get goosebumps when watching the movie on DVD), I just think the PT is on it's way to become one huge spoiler trilogy for people who haven't seen the OT. It's nothing bad, but first time watchers need to know that seeing them in the intended order 1,2,3,4,5,6 is not recommendable the way the prequel storyline is built.

i agree with die-jarjar-die that Lucas should definatly not show vaders face at then end if he expects people to watch these in 1,2,3,4,5,6 order...
however master sifo-dyas is right when he says that if people do watch them in that order the OT will look somewhat dated and not have all the magic and surprises it did the first time around...
i mean be honest.. what kid is going to be amazed at the lightsaber fights in ANH or ESB after seeing TPM and AOTC...
i still think he has the whole idea wrong with the order of the movies... although they are prequels, i find the only way the movie will work is if you watch them 4,5,6,1,2,3.... this way episodes 1,2,3 seem sorda like a prologue if you catch my drift...
and for my idea regarding the end to episode III... sidious is shown talking to someone (who's image is obstructed by some sort of object like a pillar, just so it doesnt give away the identity of the person), the breathing apparatus starts to work while a close up of a black glove comes to life and begins to move its fingers...

its fine the way it is... in fact its so fine that it was awarded oscars...
hrm.. interesting...
the OT with its so called dated effects and matt lines has accomplished more than GL's CGI enhanced shitty prequels...
funny how that works out...

I wouldn't mind alot more speed in that fight. The fight in The Empire Strikes Back should be left alone. It makes sense Vader would fight slower since he want to bring Luke in alive and Luke has little training so that could work too.
About this "Ultimate Trilogy" thing, you talk about it like it's official, well, it is? Has anyone from Lucasfilm ever confirmed this? As far as I now, it's just a rumor, and not a good one.
And Luke Skywalker, yes, the OT has accomplished more, but hey, matte lines don't sell toys, and videogames, and thats what señor Lucas wants! Money! So he can build his own Death Star and blow Earth to bits.
