I hope we get the final flickering lights/darkness soon! I've been way too excited waiting to see those sabers in darkness. lol

I'm more upset about it than anyone, cause I was half way thru working on it, when the Motherboard crapped out. And I was loving what was coming out. But now I'm stuck waiting to work on this, and it's killing me.
Alot of good might come out of this, cause I might have found a way to change up to windows 7 64 bit in the process. So it may be possible that I can switch up to After effects CS5 and still keep all the work I've done so far. Which will make alot more possible for me. Special effect wise.

Hopefully only a few days. Got a friend who works at tiger direct working on it atm. Hes doing all the tech stuff for free. Im just paying for the new motherboard. So I cant complain for waiting, cause its saving me some cash. He's also gonna upgrade my sound and video card, with whatever he can get ahold of. Then he'll have to install windows 7 64 bit, and transfer all my data over. Could be a few days, maybe a week. He's doing me a huge favor as my computer was getting to be rather outdated anyways. So I have no problem waiting it out. It just hurts not be able to work on the edit. Cause I'm hooked.

There is a bit of problem with the ESB Imperial March (as used after Empire).
It became Darth Vader's Theme (nothing wrong with that the big guy deserves a motif) but then it was wheeled out in AOTC to signify the rise of the Empire.
The way I'd work it would be to keep the Emperor's theme for Palps/Sidious, the ANH Imperial Theme for the Clones and Stormies and the ESB Imperial March for Vader alone (Anakin's theme in TPM is the same theme taken down a notch and when Vader dies in ROTJ we get the harp version).
If it's to be used in the raid on the Jedi Temple (something I'm all for) a bit of experimentation needs to be done with A) finding the right version and B) timing the theme with the footfalls of Vader and his troops, either by altering the pace of the music or altering the speed of the footage.
It's a march so they should march to the march, seeing as they are marching.

I was just about to put The music for the March on temple needs to be slower and you had both fast and slow on there. It sounds very good slow. Is there any other slow verses of the march.
The real point of comparison should be Luke, Han and Chewie walking to The Throne Room March in ANH.
There they are pretty in time with the music which makes a certain amount of sense in terms of comparison as Luke is starting his journey to the lightside just as his father is starting his career on the darkside with this scene.
What about this? Please forgive the aspect ratio and movie-sound-cuts, this was a really quick job just to test the general idea. The point still comes across rather well, I think.
As I posted before the music for that scene is changing. The problem with timing the music to the footsteps is on the overhead shot, cause it depends on what trooper your watching. Alot of them step at slightly different times. Slowing the footage is not always a great idea. Tryed to stretch that scene out already and even alittle bit of slowing is very obvious. Sleep well knowing that I will do my best to make it as good as possible before I release it tho 8)
***BTW since Dip quoted the link to my chapter 7 clip without the disclaimer I wrote about it. That was done 6 months ago. Just about everything in it has been changed. I just tossed it up cause someone mentioned about having the Imperial march in the Jedi temple scene. It was just to show that I was already going that route. I would have posted a updated version of the scene, but I dont have the home computer back up and running yet.
That clip in no way reflects where the edit is currently. I just dont want anyone to look at that thinking it's the final product. It's way better than the posted clip.**

The eye will be drawn to the figure at the front and it really should be a military march (which would rule out some of the arrangements).
Sound could play a role in creating an illusion of synchronicity if you can find a sound source for military marching and match that to the music the unavoidable miss match of the troopers will slip into the background.
Tweaking the image, music and sound will I'm sure produce a pleasing result which I really look forward to experiencing.
It is shocking that Lucas didn't think about this sort of thing when he was filming it.
He micro managed pretty much everything else to the point where normality (in the PT Star Wars universe) looked like a dance routine but give him a military march and it's all over the place.
Another thing I was thinking and I'm not sure if it's possible (I've got the feeling it's not but...) would it be better to have coloured markings on the Clone Troopers at all times in the PT until the raid on the Temple?
That way it would mark this as the beginning of the Empire.
Story wise the only way you can tell one trooper from another is by their markings. By removing them it underlines how the military has lost it's last connection to humanity, mirroring what's happening to Anakin.
Anyone witnessing this raid would have no idea which regiment these guys belonged to and what rank they were adding to the confusion on the ground.
Using battered coloured armour in this scene doesn't lend the situation the right sense of historic momentum.
I'd have stuck coloured markings on the cloneys on Kamino and taken it off here so this is the birth of the Imperial Stormtrooper and the end of the Grand Army of the Republic.
Perhaps darkening Anakin's robe would cement his new persona as Darth Vader too.
I gave it a shot trying to remove the color from the Troopers after the Empire is up and running . Didnt work out as well as I planned. But that was a long time ago, and I've learned alot, so I'll try it again before I'm done.
BTW The chapter 7 clip as the troopers are marching. I added those marching sound FX. So its as easy as just moving them around til they match right. I might also replace it, if I come across a better marching sound.

Maybe simply desaturating the markings would be a good compromise if you can't pull it off? Might help make the armour look more sterile/skeletal and more reminiscent of the ANH Stormtroopers.

It refers to Sidious "creating life" to keep Vader alive! Further to that, recall, "to cheat death is a power only one has achieved, but if we work together, I know we can discover the secret." He was never referring to saving Padme, but saving Vader.
Technically, nothing Sidious ever said to Anakin was a lie.
