STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW — Page 722

After a good long week (or was it two?) I've just finished reading the entire 700+ page thread, so I am now caught up on this amazing project.  Boy am I exhausted!  Now I need to go and read the entire 300+ page thread covering ANH:R.  Here are some random thoughts:

Some great and epic battles were fought on this thread.  Some of the more memorable ones:

-"bring my shuttle"
-red AT-AT cockpit
-the Emperor's lines
-blue TIEs

And some of the battle's Adywan has had to face:
-getting ripped off by the post office on numerous ocassions.
-health issues
-computer issues (power supply, monitor)
-getting ripped off by Gateway
-the challenge of getting good wampa fur
-hot weather affecting the plaster
-car crash
-unplanned apartment "remodelling"
-project helpers going AWOL
-migranes and temporary blindness(!)

I appreciate all the clips that have been made available.  What I have seen so far is truely spectacular!  Watching SW:R, I felt like the movie was brand new.  And I had that same feeling of wow eye-popping awesomeness that this film gave me back in 1977.  I actually got chills during some of the scenes!  And really, the wait for the sequel feels very much the same as it did back then.  It's going to be very exciting to finally watch this movie when it is released!  I will be there "standing in line" with all of you on opening night!

I really enjoy watching SW:R music soundtrack only with subtitles turned on.  Making them 'on' by default would be nice for the ESB:R dvd, although it would be inconsistent compared to ANH:R.

Somebody posted a while back about the color corrected avchd releases:

I don't know if this has been posted but I thought I'd pass in on-if anybody has had problems playing back the achhd versions of SW 4 & 5 on their bluray players here's the scoop. The iso images that can be downloaded  are actually bluray on dvd-not achvd. What I did was mount the iso image useing Daemon tools, then open it and go to the stream folder and open that to get to the m2ts stream-now using a tool called multiAVHCD you can make a fully avhcd compliant folder to burn to a dvd dl blank using imageburn (2.5 udf)-as an alternative you can edit the iso image. Most bluray players won't play bluray on dvd. I hope this helps.

But the nfo file suggest I just burn the iso to a dual layer DVD.  I see an mds file so that indicates that I should just burn it.  But since I only have a few DL discs left, I would rather not do trial and error.  So what exactly should I do?  Is there a help page somewhere?

Regarding this post:

Jaitea, a better texture will definitely help, but you could also modify the model slightly as well.  Round off those too-crisp edges and the light will give subtle highlights adding a new level of believability.

Regarding this post (and others with a similar pic):

It ocurred to me that that landing platform for the cloud cars always looked to me like a balcony lounge for a bunch of jawas.  LOL.

Regarding this post:

There is a DVD9 PAL torrent, which I am also seeding.  But it's easier to download the one from fanedit (http://fanedit.info/SW.html) using jdownloader.

Did I read correctly that Adywan got somebody (SKY?) to remodel in CGI the original FOX opening fanfare logo?  If so, I think that is brilliant!  I am not so keen on the "An Adywan Production" one though.  I mean it's neat, but I really dig the original FOX logo.

Lastly, on a sadder note... Adywan, I am truely sorry for the loss of your mom.  What a shock it was to read that in this thread.  But it was very moving to see the forum members come to your support during that time.  You seem to be a strong individual and I know you will carry on.

And please take care of your health.  Give yourself a break every now and then.

Nice post, but I take issue with this suggestion.  The default audio should always be the primary sound for the movie, not an extra like soundtrack-only.

Oh, I meant that when you go music-only, to turn on the subtitles by default.

Dunno which project helpers you're referring to but my people are still here. =D

You forgot one. The volcano in Iceland is wreaking havoc on courier flight plans... Our gear from Ady has been delayed. =(

And we thought 'Star Wars:R' had been a problematic production for adywan!  Even George didn't have to cope with volcanoes....  (Well, until 'Sith' anyway)

After the rollercoaster of the 'Empire:R' thread, I wonder if it's asteroids next during 'Jedi:R'....

When you see it like that, the man really has had a lot to go through. Most people would either simply give up or postpone work indefinitely, and go crazy. The man is quite simply a hero for sticking at it and practically saving Star Wars for many of us who were offended by George Lucas' Special Editions and thought we'd never enjoy the Star Wars movies properly again. He really is the saviour of Star Wars.

I think it's also important to congratulate the people who have helped Ady through this ordeal too, as no doubt support really does give energy and insipiration.

I have been observing this thread since the beginning (I wasn't a registered member at the time) and have seen this project go through the motions and it quite simply astounds me here we are with it still going and we have a release date which is december 2010.

Amazing. :-)

I'll second EvilSupes statements.  In my time as an independent filmmaker I have faced obstacles many wouldn't believe.  Seriously, I started shooting my one feature film in November of 2006, and it has been in post-production for the last two years because I can't get the replacement music I need.  This August, it'll be four years since I wrote the script for it.  The volume of crazy experiences and brick walls I've either had to turn away from, scale, or break through would take too long to list.  Point being is that I've done all this without any budget or payment.  I've done it all because I vowed to myself that I would get that film completed, no matter what.  So, I entirely sympathize and understand the dedication, passion, and pain Ady has endured throughout his journey.  Takes a lot of love for your art to do what he does for as long as he does.  While I can potentially and eventually gain a profit from my original films, understand that Adywan does this all without a single penny (or pound, as it may be) going back into his wallet.  Never forget to thank him both along the way and after the journey is done.

So, thank you, Adywan.

There's one detail I think all of you may have missed on those two pics posted. The lighting on the clouds as we face the storm troopers is back lit and they should not be back lit. They should only be back lit when we see the falcon take off.

I used a bit of artistic licence with that shot. Having it 100% correct with the clouds dark, it became a bit lifeless and plain. It needed that bit of colour so i'm not bothered that it isn't fully correct.

Now for the apartment centre circle. I tried the shot with the circle blocked out and i really didn't like it. Not only does recolouring it show up the bad rotoscoping they did for the SE more than it does now but it just didn't look right. There is no chance of using the GOUT for that shot because the quality in that shot is awful. I think the ceiling being full open looks better so i will be keeping it the way it is

RoccondilRinon said:

Also guys: remember that the shadow on the wall isn't of the circle in the middle of the ceiling.

Exactly. It's never bothered me for 30 years that the shadow is wrong and that the centre circle looked like it was meant to be the sky because of its blue colouring. I prefer the window to be open here.

Having loved Darth Editous's version, it was really neat to see your own 'test' preview of the 'zoom-in' towards the 'Vane'/'Pod' adywan.  Like DE's, it gives the original matte shot a real sense of life now, and your movement looks tremendous.

However, I'm wondering if your preview means that you aren't doing your original 'model set' idea anymore?  Or is that still a possibility?  Thing is, if you are now keeping the original matte of the 'Vane'/'Pod' as it is as shown in shot 1 below....does this mean that the current problems will have to remain?  Such as where it's outermost edge seems thinner all the way around in shot 1 compared to the 'gradually thickening' towards the base of it in shots 2, 3, and 4....along with the fact that the 'angled' bend of the front top-half as seen in shots 2 and 3 are different to shot 1 too.  These issues have been brought up before, but I'm just curious, although your previewed effect is certainly a huge improvement to the way the original shot looks -

Well the matte has gone though a few modifications since the preview. The gantry and walkway have been shrunk, along with the window and the sphere at the top has been made larger and had a few modifications. The scale as it stands now makes the chance that the carbon chamber could be at the top of the structure more believable.

Here it is in 720p mp4.

http://rapidshare.com/files/394232412/gantry_finished.mp4

And no, i won't be putting this on Youtube and i really don't want anyone else to either. I'm so fed up with how crappy youtube makes the videos look with their recompression. The last video looked like crap yet i uploaded the exact same one to facebook and it looked great. It's only a small download anyway.

One last thing, in shots 10 and 11 the 'grate' that closed behind Luke in front of the tunnel exit in shots 7 and 8 seems to be missing now....

That is being fixed :D

-Angel

Unfortunately it's not any more. Not only was tracking the shot a nightmare but the smoke at the end of the shot created all sorts of problems as it flows over the section where the grate needed to be and with the tunnel being in view when the smoke passes it i just couldn't add the grate.

Yeh, ESB:R has been a real struggle. So many things have happened i'm surprised i haven't gone mad. I can't believe that i've got to wait until the end of next week before i can get an appointment to see the doctor because they don't class it as an emergency. Oh well, i'll just have to suffer these headaches a bit longer.

What volcanoes in Sith? All I recall is overly choreographic lightsaber combat/acrobatics and a lot of green screen.  =P

Art through Adversity... The og ANH was plagued with issues and it was awesome. If anything this is an even greater undertaking cos this is only a handful of people doing the impossible. Art through Adywan! XD

Sorry to hear that Ady - here's hoping you get better soon.

That finished shot looks really great - a real improvement over the previous version as well. Will there be a musical cue to accompany the longer scene, or will the original ambience remain? I'm not sure how much a musical cue would add, but it might make sense. I dunno.

You know reading an entire forum and eventually catching up to date not far from the release date (hopefully) sounds just like my discovery of the SW:R thread in 2007!!

I had already made a few attempts at editing scenes from ANH (Obi-Wans vanishing trick as Vader strikes him down and the Stormie feet inconsistancies when Vader Chokes Cpt Antilles) when I badly broke my arm in Oct 2007 and needed surgery, so I was off work for months.

I eventually discovered the O.T. and Adywan's thread.

I quickly realised there was no point for me to continue Fan-Editing (until then I didn't know Fan-Editing had a community!) Ady was fixing things I hadn't even noticed and at such high standard.

Anyway....NJM I know a guy who is a music producer who composes & creates incidental music which has been used on local TV & Radio (Northern Ireland).

I could send you some contact details
