The DS crew in this scene are all wearing black gloves but then in the next shot a gloveless hand is shown pushing a button.

Adywan, you could use your own hand for that shot.

Why not just erase the whole hand? It does not add anything vital to the scene.

Missed Chewie’s growl from the pit the first time, that’s a nice touch! Shouldn’t it be heard just a tad earlier? At the moment we see Artoo bounce up from his fall (supposedly hitting Chewie there), for example? Or even earlier, as Chewie could growl in anticipation of Artoo’s fall and/or as surprised by the sudden activation of the hyperspeed…

In the original, the camera following the MF in the second shot does a bit of a turn and rotates slightly, mirroring the path of the Falcon, like the camera swoops ever so slightly. This helps create dynamic tension. Your shot is a steady track forward. Even though the camera moves at the same speed, the dynamic motion is missing, and so it feels "slower."

I know it's probably too late to re-film it, but I would always regret not telling you in case there was a chance to tweak it.

I was watching that scene dozens of times, wondering why in the original version the faster impact didn't look so fast, and you totally hit the point: that slight camera movement makes the original chase look "faster" and the "fast" impact looks accordingly right

Fantastic, Ady!!! But IMHO, I like how the TIEs impacted on the walls on the previous version, with more frames. The "split up" movement now seems too fast for the flowing movement of the TIEs, it was smoother before and it worked really nice :)

Sorry if this subject has been already addressed, but is Artoo's akward movement falling into the hole after repairing the Falcon's hyperdrive going to be fixed? It always stuck out like a sore thumb to me...
