Adywan's 1997 SE version of ESB is already there. I wasn't aware that there were reconstructions of the other two available (by anyone).
Apparently. This is the info I was given:
EWOKGROOMER - Return of the Jedi BD50 -> DVD9 1080p h264 - "Return.of.the.Jedi.1080p.EwokGroomer.nfo" yEnc (1/1)
collection size: 6.49 GB, parts available: 20108 / 20108

- 219 rar files

Could anyone who has a widescreen copy of the 1997 SEs please upload them to the newsgroup, I have been going around in circles for the last week and a half looking for a set to either buy (i.e. DVDs on ebay) or download. With no success :(
Many Thanks!

Hi Chewtobacca,
Thanks for the reply, I have already downloaded Adywans 1997 SE ESB, however I believe this is just the 2004 version of ESB colour corrected and with the 1997 LD 5.1 surround sound.
Not to put down Adywan's release which is a superb release, first thing HD I have ever seen on my TV, but I am actually looking for something more authentic like the Gkar or TB DVB captures of the SE.
Many Thanks to anyone who can help.

I'm also looking for these versions for the same reason!
Me too!
I am desperately looking for the ROTJ 1997 SE version as this doesn't have the messed up lightsaber colours like 2004 SE version and doesn't go as over-the-top as the 2004 SE with the CGI in places.
I used to have the 1997 SE on VHS and it was always my favourite version of ROTJ until it died. :'-(

In the very least, there is also the original emperor and a flipped shot of medals on Imperial officers' uniforms that was discussed in the restored theatrical version thread. What other differences do you believe there were between 1997 and 2004 that Adywan left unaltered? It seems pretty close to me.
I can't help you with anything else. I'm sorry.

Please forgive me I have only watched this release once, you are of course right about the additional work done by Adywan on this release.
Lets assume the Adywan ESB release is a perfect reconstruction of the 97 SE, can anyone help with ANH and or ROTJ?
Much appreciated

Ady's ESB is about as close as you can get, but it isn't quite the same. There is the Reivax version for ANH-it's from a Beta tape and looks great, but unfortunately is in PAL format and only has a 2.0 track.
Laserdisc captures can be good, but there aren't any out currently and all will have the pink tint form the telecine. The best would be the G'kar, TB, or another broadcast version. Sadly, there aren't any now. I hope someone does finish a 97SE set with the full 5.1.

To be honest I don't mind PAL as I live in the UK so its the norm for me :) Thanks for all the info on the different releases.

Something to do with "Pwnage" is being reposted...
Got this one, but Quickpar tells me that 94 files are not complete. Can I repair them with the par2 files? I have the parfiles that are included in the download and cannot repair the files with them. Is there another possibillity to repair the files? I'd really like to watch this.
I think you might need more pars. If there weren't enough pars with it then I am afraid you won't be able to do a proper repair. So unless someone uploads some new pars, I really don't know how you can fix it.

You can try to decode the incomplete files to give you more blocks, then try again to use the par2 files, but 94 files incomplete files is a sizable number! You can also try to redownload some of them and see if you have better luck the second time: that has worked for me on occasion.
Other than that EvilSupes is correct. You need more par2 files. :=(
94 files is all of them. PAR2 wasn't meant for that scenario.
Get a real news provider. You'll need one with 579 days retention
However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…

Got it now from another source. Couldn't get it complete from the first source.
REIVAX appears to have burnt in French subs for the subtitled parts.
edited - It seems to be source material. My fault for not searching first! I'm curious about these DJ releases though.
Anyone know what to do with files (wookiegroomer in this case) that validate correctly, but won't unpack? I've gotten wookie's ep.1-3 and 6 four times now and each time they've fully validated, but haven't unpacked...it's killing me! BTW, I'm new to this so please be nice ;)
Try using the latest version of winrar. If you have an older version and the files were packed with a newer one then it has been known to cause problems
Thanks. I use 7-zip instead of winrar. Actually it turns out that maybe my usenet program didn't do the par checks correctly. I used QuickPar on one of them already and was able to unpack it successfully :) Now, I hope all of them will go this well as it'd be nice to have all 6 movies ;) Will let everyone know when it's done.
BTW, I've grabbed everything of yours I could Adywan and have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of them ;) Keep up the great work, it's definitely very appreciated :)
Hi I 'm newbie. How I access to alt.binaries.starwars and downloads files?
PM sent. :-)
So, I think I got it solved now. Problem was these files had multiple sets of par2 files. My news program only processes the first set of par2 files in each folder, and these needed all sets processed. Once I processed all sets with quickpar, they unrared nicely :)
