In all seriousness, can we get some clarification on what threads will get deleted?  Like I said, I don't want to waste my time baiting a troll if the thread will just go poof.  To me, those two threads were perfect for the LOL list and not too different than some others that have been allowed to remain in teh past.

No, there's a difference.  I'm encouraging someone to contribute to my list.  I'm not going to run around and bait people that haven't done anything, but if someone is going to be an asshole like Bobba Fett, I don't see anything wrong with giving them a little push in the direction they are already headed for the purpose of some lolz.

Jay, this is your forum and you make the rules.  But it feels like you've changed the rules a little.  That's also your prerogative, but I'm just asking for the chance to document the troll before the thread is deleted.  I think locking the thread for a few days, letting me archive it, and then deleting it would be a reasonable compromise.

Of course I'll live with whatever you want to do.  I know this is your house and I'll eat whatever you serve for dinner.

Oh yeah.  That guy is so full of himself, even to this day.  Have you ever been to his forum?  He removed ANH:R from his fanedit database because adywan SOLICITED DONATIONS IN AN EVIL SCHEME TO DEFRAUD THE MOVIE STUDIOS (my phrasing, not his).

I've got an avi of his edit but haven't bothered to watch it yet.  Supposedly it is pretty good, but I have trouble separating him and his edit.

No, it's not a policy change. There are plenty of similar threads in the forum trash that were deleted rather than locked. The decision to leave, lock or delete is a subjective one, and depends on the content of the thread and to some extent the views of the mod who is reading it.

When I came across the Bobba Fett thread early on, I decided not to take any action. Later, after it had deteriorated rapidly, Jay noticed and removed it.

I think locking the thread for a few days, letting me archive it, and then deleting it would be a reasonable compromise.

Sometimes that's just not reasonable. Take for example the recent troll who had what appeared to be a diseased vagina as his profile image. That kind of shit has to go immediately.

Ok, fair enough.  I think you could just remove the image and lock the thread for a few days before deleting, but like I said, I'll live with it and stop beating a dead horse.  Thanks for the info.

Since it hasn't been addressed, I'll assume my archiving of deleted threads is not an issue.  If I can have a bit of time to archive a locked thread before deletion, all the better, but it is what it is.  And since you say "sometimes it isn't an option," that implies it is an option other times depending on the content...

I don't have access to make adjustments to user profiles, so I couldn't have removed the image. Therefore, deleting the thread and banning the user was the only option.

The quoted text cannot, in any way, be overstated. You could take steel wool, bleach, and hydrochloric acid and never remove that image from my mind. I've been sleeping with the lights on ever since.

Well, you'll find the entirety of the actual thread in the deleted thread archive.  It's reasonably clean.  But the picture was in the troll's user profile, which is why Moth3r couldn't delete it.

And if you'll now excuse me, I need to go throw up again...

Yeah... I'm more of an armchair supporter.  Plus, as a male lesbian with a somewhat butch haircut at the moment, I feel that thread goes against my beliefs.
