i thought beru and owen could have been a sort of han and leia of the PT. owen would go from being a young republic soldier to embittered old soldier. they would live on a backwater farm to escape the torments of the war.

I thought Bail Organa should have been younger and also the Han Solo of the trilogy. There should have been a love triangle between him, Anakin, and Padme. I like Bail being the Han part because I was thinking about the saying, "A girl always marries someone like her father." Well Bail raised Leia, and what if Bail in his younger years was a lot like Han.

Again makes sense.... But it's GL's prequels!

In regards to mrbenja0618's sentinment of TPM's opening being so slow, I have been editing the film myself lately.  The film opens with the ship docking, the Neimodians talking with Sidious discovering the ambassadors are Jedi, and then, the ship is blown up.  The first time you see Obi-Wan & Qui-Gon is when the droids open the door to (what is now conceded as) the hangar bay, and the Jedi jump out and attack.  I'll see about getting this online for better reference.  It so terribly works.  I had to construct a line of dialogue to make it work, too.

He is going to sort of be his brother in my novels.

Indeed! I like the idea of the smokes being from the explosion.. A far more faster paced opening for sure

 I love the ideas here also. Only problem I see is from a standard film flow perspective. By skipping the part of the Jedi sitting down and talking, you've now skipped these characters being introduced to the audience.

 At this point we are 6 min into the film and we dont even know these main characters names. Perhaps adding there names to the crawl would be a good idea. Cause thinking about the scenes after this. I think it would be a very long time before either of the Jedi's names come up again.

**Edit**LoL. I just rewatched the begining of TPM. Good Lord. during the sit down between the Jedi, Only Obi's name comes up anyways. Always thought they at least let you know both there names in that scene. Seriously, how long does the film go by before Qui-gon's name even comes up originaly? Wow Lucas, way to take care of the characters.

 I enjoyed that so much better, black out Sidious' face like previous editors have done and then i think that is pretty much a good opening. My only problem is, how does TC-14 know that they are jedi? There are no signs of them even being a Jedi, nobody sees them, nobody hears them talkin about jedi business or anything to give away that they are Jedi. They were secretly dispatched but somehow a Protocol droid knows who and what they are?

Because they're wearing Jedi robes? Wait, Owen wears the same kind of robes in AotC because that's what he wore in ANH BECAUSE ITS SUPPOSED TO BE INCONSPICUOUS TATOOINE GARB!

Sorry, one of the new "things that bug me about the PT". Those are "Jedi robes" because Obi-wan wore them in ANH. But Obi-wan was in hiding, and Owen was wearing the same outfit along with other people in Mos Eisley. Then in the PT its the standard issue uniform, begging the question of why everyone in Mos Eisley is basically wearing clerical collars 20 years after being a priest is punishable by instant death!

hah.. If you notice tho when viceroy yells "close the blast doors" we see the same shot from different angle when he says "that will hold them" The shot of turning back is identical..

Well, I think that edit vastly improves the scene. It gets to the action quickly, and it becomes one of the greatest introductions of the Jedi I've seen yet. Great job.

I agree with Bob though. Adding their names to the crawl would help a lot. Amazing cut though! You solved my 1st problem with this movie. However, 1 of MANY! lol

 Yeah but in Nicholas' version of events, TC-14 never actually sees the Jedi.

As amazing as the edit is, someone like Red Letter Media or Confused Matthew would certainly see this plot hole. I don't want to be like George here wanting to see everything on screen to explain everything but TC-14's comment is completely unfounded. He/She has no reason to speculate.

Well, I have the thought in the back of my head to have an actress I've worked with re-dub the female captain's lines to state that they are Jedi Ambassadors.  And if I could remove TC-14 and make it just a conversation between the two Nemoidians, I would, but I don't have that breadth of skill.  Either that, or just have them facing each other the full time.  I'll screw around with it, again.

Also, Qui-Gon's name is not stated until he introduces himself to Shmi Skywalker nearly 40 minutes into the film. For Obi-Wan, I believe his name is next stated 50 minutes into the film when Qui-Gon asks for a midichlorian count on Anakin's blood.  Though, I will futz with audio bytes to see where I can drop in an extra line from the now cut conference room scene.  My big regret is in cutting that scene is the token, "I have a bad feeling about this," line.  Everything else stated in that scene is essentially easily communicated by the Federation's blatant and radical behavior.

Nope. Qui gon says the name Obi wan after they enter the conference room door. so at the very start we know who is Six licond eco.

But since we go with your edit continuity i think you are right :)

It would make a lot more sense if the Senate sent a Protocol droid with the ambassadors...a fussy, prissy protocol droid that let slip that they were Jedi in his/her introduction to the Viceroy.

They could even buy that protocol droid shell off Watto and replace it's platings as a disguise (the one with the leg plating missing), leaving them with a gold droid with a silver leg...

 You might be onto something there Bingowings. Redub Neimodians and have TC-14 as an interpretor?
