Does that mean there will be a SW:R:R? lol

whoaa....that is very cool news about SW finally hitting Bluray. Jeez, it took them a while to officially announce that anywhere. All other news on the subject was always pretty vague. Good to hear about the extras we'll have to look forward to as well.

I'm actually anticipating AdY's rlease even more though...and in all seriousness I do hope someone at LFL takes notes from Ady's projects and implements some further changes this time for the better.

I cant see anything good anymore coming out of lucasfilm, period. I think we are going to see some big changes in the OT, and probably for the worse. Lucasfilm seems so out of touch with the sensible fan base. I think perhaps that ADY's edit might have given them the impression that the fan base want's a major visual change in the original trilogy, making them better fit the prequels visually and story wise.  I would not be surprised if lucas is looking at these lost dailies for footage that works better with the prequels, and filming/creating new stuff for the OT as well.

I can only hope that Lucas does not put Jar Jar or any more gungans in the OT. Having them in the ending celebration in ROTJ was bad enough.

Back to ESB:R

ady will you consider adding some more hull detail/dirt tech stuff to the life set of falcon? (since you will replace many shots with the model one ;)

Hey Angel: could you post the original to compare to your revised image?

EDIT (after reading V's response below):

Ady, did you manage to solve your UAC troubles?

I reckon the blue sheen is smothering a lot of the detail and weathering in the SE during shots like your example vaderios.  Things should look a lot better with adywan's re-colouration.

December 2020 now ady?  Nothing like giving yourself a little more leeway, lol.

Better maybe. More detailed no :)

Nice, as I haven't seen the AVCHD.

The falcon certainly looks better in that shot now though.

Well lets hope that each episode of the OT gets it's own features disc this time. I highly doubt that it will be available before i finish ESB:R but i'm holding out hope for a lot of unseeen footage/ deleted scenes from ROTJ because that will come in very handy for ROTJ:R. And, no, there won't be a new version of ANH:R

Hey Ady. Hopefully this video will give you a more accurate/impartial idea of how the new roto brush in CS5 works.

Yep, just as i thought. It isn't going to be the miracle plugin that it tried to make out in their demo. I wasn't very impressed by what it does in that new video.

I'm only replacing the on set falcon with the model for a few shots or using it to overlay some details on the top section for a few others. The rear end of the Falcon doesn't have that much detail on it anyway, as can be seen here, so i don't think it needs anything added to it. The model at the bottom is the highly detailed 5ft filming version

If there's one single change about the upcoming BluRay that I'd like, it would be more ships in the background at Endor. Maybe rotoscoped lasers and lightsabers, too. I guess it would help Ady's version.

I know that there won't be an HD version of ANH:R, but if the BluRays are still in that horrible blue shade (heh), would you be willing to make a color restoration? No edit whatsoever, just tweaking the colors?

By the way, I showed TESB:R trailer, plus various other Revisited WIP vids, to my father yesterday. I wasn't hoping for much, but to my amazement he was genuinely excited and asked if we could watch the edit right away, and was rather bummed it isn't available yet.

So, thanks Ady! I really mean it, my father (as well as my uncle and mother) used to be Star Wars fans, who were uterly disappointed by the prequels, to the point they didn't want to watch anything Star Wars again. Seeing my father excited about the movie was great. Thanks, again. :)

I highly recommend lowering your expectations for these upcoming blue-rays. I think Lucas is going to add alot of stuff to make them look pretty like the prequels, but I'm afraid thats all they are ever going to be. Lucas is going to force the OT to look like the prequels. I think alot of the problems that Ady is working on will still be present with these blu-rays, and I really don't think Lucas is going to spend the time and money to do the level repair work that Ady is doing with his edit.

I also expect alot of the new stuff they will add will have no business being there. Example, the removal of Sebastion Shaw's head in favor of Christian Hayden, or the sarlacc pit enhancement.

Pretty they will look, but problems remain they will.

Hmm.... in regards to this shot, is anything going to be done to the central left area, ie the background behind the front section of the Falcon?

The reason I mention this is that when the blast doors close for the night (in one of the preview clips), the hanger has been expanded/deepened so the Falcon is much farther back than it was originally.  Thus, in this shot, shouldn't that be reflected in the left area to show the hanger go back farther away?

I'm not sure but is that the blast door to the direct left of the silhouetted rebel?

I think that's just a Snowspeeder alcove. The door is well around the corner from that shot.

look how long it took them just to get it out on normal DVD! God, i looked everywhere for those 'til i found out they'd be coming out in fall of 2007 and DVD's had been out for about three or four years.

I wish a different director would come up and direct some star wars movies. not a add on to the OT or anything. i'm more wishing they'd make a movie out of the republic commando series or the darth bane trilogy. There are plenty of stories that don't require the original cast of either the PT or OT.
