Star Wars DVD Covers — Page 161

Now, here is what the set will look like, I still haven't added any logos. The fronts and sides will stay as is, but the backs will contain the FOX logos and whatnot.

The thing I am most proud of is the colour work I did to Return Of The Jedi's poster. I hated how saturated and blue it was, so I toned it down a bit to work with the other posters, let's face it ANH and Empire had the best posters.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Those are excellent, my man!  I'd love to have them when you finish.

Thank you!!! I am still doing some slight adjusting, but these should be done in the next couple of days.

This has been taking longer than I had expected. I just got the basic idea of the backs done. I wanted to pictures of each lightsaber duel, but there aren't really any images big enough to try. So I used old promo images. The Star Wars battle was made from scratch, I had to make a panorama for the ESB one, because a chunk of the star destroyer was cut from the image.. The ROTJ one was from a poster I used to have. I think they each represent Star Wars. What do you think?

I might put a Death star behind the space battles for ANH and ROTJ.

P.S. Sorry it is taking so long. Finding high quality images is very hard when it comes to the original trilogy.

I think those would work great as inserts. Thanks for the pictures, and the compliment.

I was a little in a hurry, what I meant - "nice" beeing quite unsignificant and not that much a compliment - is that they are surely the best SW DVD covers I've seen on this site: simple, efficient, beautiful.

Now I wondered if the big Star Wars logo of the main case wouldn't deserve to be lowered just a bit (position), and also wondered if the colors on the back are a good addition: I would keep the ships B&W, and perhaps keep the color only for the lasers.

Also, beware I noticed a trace of bearnaise on the ANH cover.

Thank you!!! I really wanted to make it more about the imagery of the classic trilogy. I didn't want one hint of special edition on these covers. It is really a mixture of Star Wars collections I have owned over the years.

I notice what you mean. It will be lowered.

He owes me his delicious raisins.

If I had to make the same for myself I would add the credits. I like a few typo. Well what I mostly like are the complete posters with all the text, minus "the star wars saga continues" or other teasing promo sentences.

But actualy I was talking about that:

We don't have bearnaise in America. About as exotic as it gets is Dijon mustard and Worcestershire sauce.

ABC, you or anyone else for that matter, wouldn't happen to have a decent sized picture of this. I just want the image on the lunchbox, preferably in colour.

Though if not, I could probably work with it. It is the image I originally wanted for the back of my Star Wars ANH cover.

P.S. if it is a picture of the lunchbox, that will work too.

isnt that almost the same image used on the ANH radio drama cover?

It is close, but no tie fighter.

Maybe this one will do, it's from the 1977 movie program. Cannot get the thumbnail to work, just click & save.

We want you to be aware that we have no plans—now or in the future—to restore the earlier versions.

Just for your eyes, first time I find the french poster in as a "big" size (still disapointing), and without text. I think it's not well known outside of France. Do I mistake ?

Neat poster. I could see using it in the future.
