Well Ripplin, although one problem is more or less solved, this brings us back to a problem I had a few months ago and was never able to resolve: Sony Vegas will NOT play AVI files for some reason! (It did on my old computer, but that computer was more or less unusable anyways)

If you still have your avi files can you load up one of the files into virtualdub, select a small section (only a couple of seconds worth) and export the file using "direct stream copy" and then upload the file to rapidshare or somewhere and i will test the file out in my vegas and i may be able to figure out the problem for you

Ok, just cause the AOTC rip was all weird and included parts of the menu, so I'm gonna re-rip that. In the meantime I can get you a clip of any of the others.

For the record, the AVIs worked in Vegas on my last comp, just not this one.

I don't know how other people do it but I chuck out all the menu elements before I convert the VOBs in the first place.

I've never encountered a menu system tightly woven into the other elements of a DVD before.

I go through and check but usually you can spot them without even checking.

When I've got nothing but the film then I convert it into something I can edit from.

I'm I doing it the wrong way around?

I've never had this problem before, so anyone else's guess is as good as mine (regarding the weird AOTC rip and Vegas not playing AVIs)

After all my bragging about never finding a DVD structure jumbled up like Asteroid-Man's I go and find one this very morning (serves me right) :-D

It must be very rare though.

In my case it was a series of trailers stuck on the end of a bit of the main feature rather than the menu.

doesn't matter how long someone has been around. a stupid comment is a stupid comment. non contructive.

rather him hold it in, like a fart or it will stink, and i do smell something from his comment.

Who are you?

I have been around for a long time, and when I give advice such as that in Post 669 I'm not making stupid comments - I'm totally serious.

Although it's a shame when a project is marred by "technical issues", I predicted that something like this would happen, and if it was predictable, it could have been avoided.

Both Ady and I have tried to help Asteroid-Man by requesting sample clips to help work out what these "technical issues" are, which he has so far not bothered to provide.

I'm not saying I've never screwed up myself - but at least I can admit to my own failings and not blame it on shoddy Canadian DVDs (which, FYI, are likely to be identical to the US releases just with the addition of some French text on the DVD cover).

And if Asteroid-Man find these comments hurtful, he needs to grow a pair and toughen up if he wants to be taken seriously.

It doesn't matter who I am !!!!! circa 2001 the rock wwf.

anyway, i am not speaking for anyone, just taking a look at what i see. when people talk smack aka shit, about someone or what they are doing, kinda sucks buddy.

didn't know to be on a site, you had to grow a pair. another stupid comment. so many "tuff guys" are behind a keyboard. tell you what, take your pair and go boil them.

comeback with something positive to say.

If I've followed things correctly, A-Man has asked for adywan's help on this.

A pending train wreck has become a legitimate train wreck.  Hooray!

You should try being more contructive, 46fleetline.

hopefully is he is smart enuff, he'll listen to my constructiveness in that being not to talk smack on someone's project.
