If you still have your avi files can you load up one of the files into virtualdub, select a small section (only a couple of seconds worth) and export the file using "direct stream copy" and then upload the file to rapidshare or somewhere and i will test the file out in my vegas and i may be able to figure out the problem for you

just any of the avi's  won't load, but it does need to be one that you are using in your project and thinking about it a clip of the AOTC avi would be a good idea

Ok, just cause the AOTC rip was all weird and included parts of the menu, so I'm gonna re-rip that. In the meantime I can get you a clip of any of the others.

For the record, the AVIs worked in Vegas on my last comp, just not this one.

I've never had this problem before, so anyone else's guess is as good as mine (regarding the weird AOTC rip and Vegas not playing AVIs)

You sure you weren't watching a VHS tape? They sometimes put the trailers after the feature. ;)

it use to be common for trailers and features to be stuck on the end of the movie file. I've never heard of the menus being tagged to the movie though because they use a different structure and have to be separate.

I have been around for a long time, and when I give advice such as that in Post 669 I'm not making stupid comments - I'm totally serious.

Although it's a shame when a project is marred by "technical issues", I predicted that something like this would happen, and if it was predictable, it could have been avoided.

Both Ady and I have tried to help Asteroid-Man by requesting sample clips to help work out what these "technical issues" are, which he has so far not bothered to provide.

I'm not saying I've never screwed up myself - but at least I can admit to my own failings and not blame it on shoddy Canadian DVDs (which, FYI, are likely to be identical to the US releases just with the addition of some French text on the DVD cover).

And if Asteroid-Man find these comments hurtful, he needs to grow a pair and toughen up if he wants to be taken seriously.
