P.S. (in a new post!) Regarding the offer of the mpeg, Ady has told me "The Raw mpeg from a-man wouldn't be any more beneficial than the finished DVD as the Mpeg track is exactly the same." So I'm just gonna get the discs out to him, real soon-like! :)

No problemo! I'll be shipping the discs that people requested regardless of the issue this week.

I've just skimmed through the last few pages in this thread - it felt like I was descending into Classic LOL territory.

You gotta watch out for those shoddy Canadian DVDs eh?

Just curious - who was that directed at?

the guy before you, however since you seem to not be able to hold your tongue, maybe it applies to you as well.

this project has taking this guy a lot of time and headache to come together. yet he is doing the best he can and doing something rather cool for us fans of the story.

for people to come on here and mock the guy is not cool.

I won't speak for "the guy before me" except to say that you might want to do a little research on him - Moth3r has been here much, much longer than you or I, and is the main moderator to boot.  I have seen him be extremely helpful to many people in the short time I have been here, but he's also direct and doesn't mince words.  And he's done plenty of preservation work, so to ask what he is "putting together" reflects a level of ignorance that you could easily rectify with some light ot.com reading.

Now, for myself, I am not mocking A-man.  If you research me a little, you will quickly discover that I have an unhealthy and some would say disturbing fascination with the prequels.  Any project involving the prequels interests me, especially one that attempts to do something new and exciting like this project.

I still don't quite understand what has happened here from a tech standpoint, and I guess I'll never understand why A-man didn't hold on to the original project files, but I suppose that is a dead horse now that doesn't need beating.  I'm encouraged that adywan is showing interest, and I'm hoping a fixed version will be available at some point.

As I said, I'm trying to hold my tongue until things shake out.  I'm wishing the best for A-man and this edit.

46fleetline - what is your opinion on tvbracket? Is it not the UK's number one brand for tvbrackets?

It would be cool to hear something constructive. Thanks.

A-man , wouldn't it be better to hold off sending discs out until i can see if i can fix the skipping issue? What method did you use to remove the 2:3 pulldown on the AOTC DVD?

I've notified the people that have made requests of the issue and how we (mostly You haha) are working on getting it fixed, but some want it anyways. And I just ripped the film with DVD Fab, and then converted it using AutoGK; I went through the process for ROTS, TPM and SW:R and didn't get that problem.

To paint you the picture here's the full explanation...

When I first started, my computer had a 30GB harddrive and a 2Ghz single core processor with 512Gb of RAM. The computer was already old and was progressively getting slower and slower.

When I began editing, I had my files split between the My Music, My Pictures and My Videos folders with a specific folder for Star Wars Renascent that had the rips and the renders. I soon found I was running out of space, so I bought a 250 GB harddrive, which I then used to transfer my files over - some of the files couldn't be copied over properly due to a redirection issue so I had to keep some in their original file paths.

My computer's speed was so slow, that every little bit of video would lag on my screen regardless so I couldn't tell anyways, so I had to toss it and get a new one (which is why I was in such a hurry to toss it). As soon as I had the money, I did so and all the file mapping got screwed up. I DO have the original project file on the harddrive, but it won't load the project properly.

I mean I redirected everything but that AVI issue was never resolved on this new computer so now none of the rips work. The only thing I could work with would be the MPEG video track which would be the same as the DVD video track that Ady will be using. The difference being that I don't know how to resolve the issue but ady might be able to.

Ady, before you try that method, I'm going to try and convert the AOTC to an MPEG, and try and replace the AOTC scenes and then use the MPEG render for everything. I could also try and fit some AOTC colour correcting in there if this works.

I'll be mailing the discs to Adywan in a couple of hours.

Hold off on that, I may have a solution.

EDIT: What the crap!? After recovering the project file on this comp, it looks like AOTC is in 25fps, but then the file on my computer says 23.976fps. Now I'm really confused...

Alright two solutions here: I rip it again, convert it to a WMV and replace the scenes with AOTC and use the MPEG render for the rest OR option two would be to see what ady can do.

Well Ripplin is sending me some other discs too and i think he has already sent them out to me.

OK, something is really confusing me now. You said that your Canadian DVD of AOTC was to blame yet you now say that it is in 25fps, yet Canadian releases are NTSC. But you also say that the file on your comp says 23.976? So where do you get the 25fps from?

Are you working with a Sony Vegas project file? If so i have the answer that will save you a LOT of work and you won't have to work from an already recompressed MPEG file

I think there was an error with the pull down or the conversion, because I know for 100% that the DVD was NTSC and the deleted scenes I used didn't have this problem, and on my computer (in explorer) it says that the file (after removing pulldown) is 23.976fps but in Vegas it says that the AOTC file is PAL (25fps). If I can solve the issue on how this computer won't play AVIs, then I can just replace the file and re-render it, but ever since I got a new computer, Vegas WILL NOT play AVIs. If you know how to resolve this issue, replacing the AOTC source video should be relatively easy.

Believe me its a pain in the ass!

But to translate for you, they just want to hit the computer with a hammer.

A-Man, r there any torrents up or you still not there yet?

Well Ripplin, although one problem is more or less solved, this brings us back to a problem I had a few months ago and was never able to resolve: Sony Vegas will NOT play AVI files for some reason! (It did on my old computer, but that computer was more or less unusable anyways)
