I'm wondering about the above still. Is Luke outside or inside? The set makes him look like he is walking inside of a hallway when he ought to be in an alley between buildings.
It sounded to me like they show the clip to show that even though Adywan was super-detailed (nitpicky) and "hates" the SE, he still kept elements of it in his edit. Why have it in there if you hate it so much?
Again, that's me reading a transcription of an interview I wasn't present for recounting part of a movie I haven't seen.

Thanks for that ABC :)
In fact, the matte/set limits are still visible ady.. will you fix them in the final cut?
Also something else:
We ve seen from trailer that the sun position when our heroes arive and leave from bespin is from the same direction.. only with different darkness.
Any chance make the sun be from the opposite side in one way or an other to create variance?
Or assuming that the city is turning in its central axis make this impossible?

I don't think they are still visible at all.
And, due to the lighting on all the object in the scenes, it's impossible to change the direction of the sun. But you forget that Bespin is a planet, but cloud city floats above it so therefore could possibly have a slight rotation to it making the direction of the sun the same at sunrise and sunset.

He is inside, walking through a corridor.
well, assuming from the original set he must be somewhere in that building or somewhere like this building:
Makes some sense..
Also the buildings in the outside makes this building be really top from the others.

Assuming and only, cant be this fact established to the exterior shots?

Now that you're pointing this out, there isn't any window frame or anything, it feels to me the corridor ends on some kind of terrace without real ending, but it doesn't mean it's outside, it could just be the open entrance of the building…

^A Vectrex machine?! :o
Nice! I wish I had owned a Vectrex back in the day. I have a feeling I would have loved it. They cost a fortune on Ebay now.
I just read through the last 5 or 6 pages, trying to keep up, and I've had a few great laughs along the way. Probably a bit too late in the game, but as far as the "falling mystery object" is concerned, I admit that I have always been a bit confused over what that was. I have always assumed it was "supposed" to be his hand, though it didn't seem to look right, and seemed improbable to me, or maybe a ripped part of his clothing falling or something. It never occurred to me that it was part of the vane breaking off. I think if we heard some type of snapping sound, or maybe saw it actually break off, that would have helped a lot.
I'm just amazed at how much confusion is involved surrounding the entire Cloud City portion of the film. Nothing seems to quite match up, and there's lots of guessing and general confusion as to what this is, what that is, where this place is, etc. It must be a nightmare for Adywan to decide what needs to be fixed and what can stay.
Vaderios, I really liked some of the mock-ups you've been doing involving the weather vane close-ups. Adywan may be right about the perspective possibly being off somehow, but I do like seeing the actual vent in those shots. It somehow looks right to me, especially when you can see in the awesome behind-the-scenes shot that was posted that the vane is actually very, very close to the vent (much closer than I realized, actually). It seems to me that you would be able to see at least some of the vent in at least some of those shots.
Yeap!
Also judging from the real set i post above the details on the light section are wrong in the matte. scaling problems
I like how ady can impress us with the set/matte continuity errors fixed.
I hope that the mattes that being addressed will take a consideration or a second thought :)

... Are the kind of overexposure marks at the bottom on all the film ?
... I saw the same ones on some ESB film cells scan once a few brightness added. (... And on pictures took on Tchernobyl site. Yeah, because of radioactivity).

So I guess a well done overlayed mask on all the film may handle that. But, that's curious.

Well i thought you mention the above image..
I checked the movie and the arent white bottom haze effects.. can you show a pic or two?
Also funny fact, in the next shots when luke sees boba and stormies the sun actually is in the position that i place it in the matte shot :D
Makes it a possible option :)

So, what was this nitpicky thing that guy was on about?
Coz I'm sure that there is no one here who is nitpicky at all....not one little bit!!
;)

That's what I'm saying. It just looks odd to me. I'm not suggesting a change or anything, I just wanted other peoples two cents on it.

Did that snowflake matter ever get resolved? ;)

Well, they don't look the same on the film cells actually. Just make tries from the movie (it'll make a good reason to abuse of some settings :P).
But I'm sure adywan doesn't need to read us to find this out.
Anyway, just for info:

Any updates on the US filming?

I think it was a fully enclosed interior corridor before the SE. I never liked those "just because we can" "photoshops" to make it look more open anyway.

Yeeeeaaahhhhh !!!! Errr... Sorry.
... I love to read that, and to me the clostrophobic old cloud city really worked on the ambient... Like a labyrinth ! Also an enclosed city... In the clouds: the kind of contrasting ideas that really works on your mind!
Fortunately I can watch the 1980 version on DVD.

Viola, a new Hoth tunnel backdrop, for minimum cost!
That's Lucas country.
