Hiya Sabnock.

I have the Fight club workprint. it's pretty rough quality and there is nothing in it that is different from the released version. That I can see anyway. No extra\deleted\alternate scenes or stuff like that.

As Workprints go, it's a bit "meh".

I would love to get hold of some ADigitalMan Extended Editions if anyone can help out. Monty Python's Life Of Brian, Love Actually Bloated and Flatulent. Ta!

Then what you have is a crappy dub of the theatrical version of Fight Club. The workprint runs ten minutes longer than the theatrical cut (actually, there's more than ten minutes of extra footage, because there are no end credits). It includes all the deleted/alternate scenes from the DVD release, a few extra bits and a temp score.

here are the ones i currently have,

Detroit Rock City
Halloween Resurrection aka The Homecoming
Halloween H20
Hellraiser 4 - Bloodine
Idle Hands
Leatherface - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3
The Mask
Strangeland
Apocalypse Now
Blade Runner
Rob Zombie's - Halloween
Southland Tales (The Cannes Cut)
James Obarr's - The Crow
The Fantastic Four (1994 Unreleased Film)

but def. American History X, Fight Club, Blair Witch, Private Parts & Nightmare Before Christmas are the ones i'm looking out for next.

Yeah, I am, I'll get to your email soon. I have a lot of email to reply to. Are you buying this stuff from Asylum? Don't do that. If there's something he has that I don't, I can probably trade him something to get it. Paying for bootlegs is dumb. I lag in my email responses sometimes, but if you're not a dumbass or a jerk, I'll help you out. You seem like neither, so we'll figure it out.

k. yeah, i bought idle hands, strangeland and detroit rock city from him, the others i was lucky to find a download for except for the mask and dazed and confused which i traded stuff for. the copy i have of drc tho the sound is so horrible it's almost unwatchable, but i'm a die hard fan so i can manage i guess. but yeah, i did start out buying 5 movies from stumpy disks but they still haven't gotten here, so i'm pretty sure they aren't comin. but there's alot i'd like to get from ya, and i have plently of disks lying around here so just let me know.

Thanks, DJ!

Chase, I've traded with Stumpy a lot in the past too. I've had stuff take a while to get to me, but he's always come through. Anyway, I just shot you an email.

k Reverend, email sent. yeah, i'm sure Stumpy is just late gettin them out or something... who knows really lol. but anyways, idk what it is about me and workprints but i just love em', to me it's a real movie experience because most of the time you get to see what it took to get the movie the way it is today... plus watching it on my projecter is a very awesome experience as well lol.

well,i must confess that i do...the reason is simple,i dont have anything to trade (well now that i'm bying i'm starting to have a small, very small list) and i'm in France, so nobody wants to deal with me ....

the good news is that i'm not a dumbass or a jerk !

but i would recommend exteme caution with asylum,an exemple ?

as a star trek fan i've ordered the workprint of "generetions" wich is well know to be in rought quality but i didnt expect to receive a 2giga file on a dvd!

for a 2h22min movie ! you can imagine how bad was the compression, looks like a god damn divx (wich is availble for free...)

but with this one i took the tv cut of "needful things" (loved the book and with an hour of extra footage the movie should be closer to the book) but what did i get ? a dvd5....for a  3hours movie ! again,it looks like a divx.

so i never even watch any of them, and i'm only buying movies under 2hours but still,it kills me to pay 12$ for a workprint but i 'm like our friend Sabnock fascinated with the differences betwen a  "work in progress" and the final release.

sorry for my english...

I wouldn't recommend extreme caution with Asylum. The guy who runs it is really nice, a great trader all around and I've dealt with him a number of times. He and I just have a different philosophic standpoint on the nature of bootleg DVDs: I find it morally reprehensible to sell them, he does not.

And with regard to the Generations workprint, you have to understand that the vast majority of traders are not people who take the time to capture to a computer, find the right compression settings and author a disc. A lot of the originators of these discs were leftovers from the VHS days, so they dubbed their tapes to DVD in the way that made sense to them, which was a set-top DVD recorder. With one of those, you have to tell it what speed (i.e. compression) to record at. Generations was over two hours, so it was probably set to four hour mode, which records at half-resolution. It's not to be unexpected. In my six or seven years of real trading, I've only ever run into two guys who encoded VHS tapes to their computer, compressed and authored from there. Great traders, those two.

ok,but even if he's not using computers he could have use SP mode on the recorder and use 2 discs instead of LP or EP on 1 disc,no ?

There's no "he" here, unless you're referring to whoever made that specific disc years back, probably in 2004, and I know it wasn't Asylum, because I traded that disc to him. Anyway, yes, whoever made the disc could have done that, but they didn't.
