Ady there is a PM for you

Dear Adywan,
I haven't posted here before, but have been following your fantastic projects since they began, and have enjoyed your version of Star Wars often.
Just wanted to let you know my thoughts are with you and your family right now mate. Take care now and all the very best.

I think this question is ontopic enough, if Ady is back to reading the forum:
Ady- With all the hubbub regarding a 3D conversion of Star Wars on the horizon, will this change your plans for your Revisited work? I see you included the 3D conversion of the Jabba scene on SWR, so I have to assume you have at least a passing interest in 3D...
How hard do you think it will be to go back and reconform your Revisied changes to the 3D release assuming it happens?
I'm just wondering if I'll have to permanently choose between Revisited and 3D...
It seems that there's some 'psuedo'-3D technology that is already being put into some of the new, upcoming 3D-tvs....which will actually give some kind of 3D effect to 2D sources....
I've no idea how successful the effect is, but I'd sure be interested to see how 'Star Wars:Revisited' looks on them using this stuff. It will probably be similar to the kind of software technology that TriDef has developed for this Acer laptop, which I've confirmed works with standard dvds too. Here's some demos -

Anyway, i thought i'd just pop in to say thanks to everyone for their kind words. The funeral isn't until the 9th Feb so i won't be back here full time until after that and even then it will only be now and then probably for a while.
Jaita, love your flaps mock-up video. It's definitely something that i'm looking at doing
As Jaitea said, we'll all be thinking of you and your family on that day Adywan.
I've started on a few things I hope to bring up for you and others here in the near future. And we'll hear from you when we hear from you.
Great to know that your definately going to be adding some Snowspeed 'flaps' after all.
Looking at this crude yet effective picture, there are different names for the 'flaps' depending on what they do:
However, they all point away from the cockpit, unlike in the snowspeeder mock-ups. They almost seem like brakes in that case.
You catch on pretty quick!
But seriously, maybe we should call them air brakes?

I actually thought of it the first time someone posted a static mockup way back when, but never said anything. I guess I figured 'flaps are funny.' :p But seriously, I hadn't given a lot of thought about different flaps on the same wing performing so many different functions before looking at that picture. I guess it depends on how far away they are from the body and the tip of the wing.
Post deleted - my bad.
i don't remember the novel mentioning anything about flaps. i don't think it's an issue. then again, we need something to keep the thread goin'.
what isnt an issue?
They should appears to the copckit shots.
Also a known fact that the flaps opens in the wrong side when the speeders are turning. Fictional physicks :P

Dont rely on diddy solo.....
But its air brakes, not flaps. 2 totally different things! Thanks Ripplin for pipeing up with that one.

That's a whole different issue.....
Dont encorage me any futher, im weak now and still quoting snowflake in my joke list, dont throw anymore pause for thought stuff, as i swear you are getting a kick out of your mayhem. Ive had enough ridicule in the past week, so......someone..else take...it...over, sigh
Air brakes are in the rescue scene, and are a little vacant in precidin shots...thats all i got....
Now im spent!
EDIT. Welcome to the forums Nerfherder BTW.
No one has posted since the 29th??
JC people, we don't have to post every day you know! Just wait for Ady to post updates! Sheesh!

Especially considering he's got family stuff to deal with right now so he probably isn't doing much work on the film the past week or so anyway.
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
My condolences, ady.

Spot the model differences,
Been messing around with textures and photos of the studio scale 32' falcon, and placing them onto a model based on the 6ft model from ANH, the medical frigate is poor I know but I'm trying to keyframe the Falcon only into original footage. This is just a test of movement, with no motion blur.

Hey!
this is Interesting!
Id like to see some more intense detail on the falcon.. like more deep shadows defining shapes..
Awesome work as always :)

It looks like the main difference is the size of the cockpit pod and main body tube - the rest of the 2nd Falcon model looks fairly consistent other than shrinking the cockpit and the main body tube connected to it.
Not to mention, the docking tube should be connected to the port directly to the upper right of the cockpit (roughly 25 degrees above right of the cockpit on the 1st image), as opposed to connecting into one of the Falcon's engine vents.
On a connecting note, taking into account the size of the Falcon's cockpit (specifically in the 1st image) and that 4 people can fit into the cockpit pod, and the window on the side of the medical frigate is where Luke, Leia and co. look out at the Falcon later, shouldn't the frigate side window either be smaller or Luke and co. be much smaller when looking out, as it seems the size of people is inconsistent between the Falcon cockpit and the frigate side window.
Here are some images:
Are the windows on the front boom signifying floor levels? If so, that gives an idea as to how big people should be, as each level should roughly be around 10 to 15 feet in height (with the average person being 5'10" to 6'). If that is the case, the medical window should be at least 2 levels high, or anywhere from 20 to 30 feet tall!
Also, I was wondering if Savmagoett could use this image to add a Falcon model to see how it matches up size-wise.
Also also (for a possible JEDI:R idea), could the weapon-looking pod above the forward sensor unit possibly be an ion cannon?

Also, is the AT-AT foot getting an enlargement per Savmagoett's concept?:

Actually I've already begun working on that ;) so it will come soon
A (more accurate) blueprint as already been drawn for my fan project and an analysis is ongoing…
but I have to take care of the Falcon first, which is happening to be a huuuuge task as you can imagine!

Heres one of the images I used to wrap the Falcon model, its of the Finemolds Falcon kit (you can see the inaccuracy of the angles on the mandibles), the second is the bare 3d model (downloaded from Sci-Fi 3D) and the last is the Finemolds image modified to fit on the 3D model.
Anyway heres the model in motion
