Heres a sample guys

Old Rad intro
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=68I9WI9I

New Rad intro
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UJMFJK29

Let me know what you think cause like I said, all menu buttons work and fits on a DVD5, with artwork and such in a DVD-ROM folder DVD size comes to around 4476, so its pretty much using around the max amount of space available
Only thing I can find wrong is the pictures in the chapter points dont match up to where they point, but thats bearable (I might look into fixing it but its seriously so petty I dont know how much I care about it)

Edit: OK I fixed the chapter points, the original DVD didnt even point to the pictures showing on the screen, but I went thru and had them all point to the pic on the chapter screen except the first pic, cause that has to be chapter 1 and it points to the beginning of the tristar trailer and not the Rad scene

Congrats on finally finishing!!

Old (The Starkiller) version appears to have been IVTCed to 23.976fps, however the decimation is wrong which leads to dupe frames and jerky motion.

Moth, you sure it runs at 23.9? Cause gspot reports it at 29.9 with the progressive fag lit, while the new version gspot reports 23.9 with the interlaced flag lit (which is what most movie VOBs report)

I know gspot isnt fail proof but the old version always just looked funny to me ( it was done with HDTV2DVD, I have no doubts about that)

I wa just doing a little internet surfing and saw that "Bill Allen" has revamped his website, I put his name in quotes because who knows if it is actually him.
http://www.billallenrad.com/
Whats funny about it is he uses the INHD2 HD capture as a video clip on his main page LOL, this from the same guy who supposedly told us he had talks about an official DVD at the beginning of 2008 and a sequel in 2009 in the podcast link below.
http://natsukashi.wordpress.com/2008/12/30/episode-xxxv-rad-with-guest-bill-allen-cru-jones/

Now I would love all this to be true but Im not that gullible, it doesnt take 18 months to make a barebones DVD with all the proper equipment, and if he had inside sources saying it was in the works why is he using the INHD2 capture?
Lets not forget no mention of Rad 2 on IMDB.

If it is really him and hes getting bad information, thats fine.....but I seriously think its an imposter and if so some people are getting slightly ridiculous

I hope to be proved wrong and get a better version than my DVD, what would be REAL funny is if they released an official DVD that was the same D-VHS source as the INHD2 TS just without the logo, and it wouldnt be that hard to figure out if it was the same source (left edge shows soundtrack and frame jumps during the bike boogie as well as other things)

Im planning on a v2.0 of this DVD, details are on the fanedits wiki
http://originaltrilogy.com/fan-edits/fan-project-details.cfm/Preservations/title/Rad-1986/project/294/category/5/

The new DVD will include
Completely new menus
Reworked script with improved delogo
Fixed colorspace/chroma bug

and it will still include
Tristar intro with music and no logo

I anticipate this to be the final version until some retail source comes out (if ever) and hopefully be done before Christmas

Hey  CompMovieGuy,

Appreciate the work you are putting into the RAD video.

I was curious, is the colorspace/chroma bug you are referring to about the red tinted clouds in the first few scenes on the paper route?

Being an absolute newb at editing any type of video I can't figure out what needs to be tweaked to get the clouds back to normal without screwing up the rest of the scene color.

Thanks again.

Hey guys,

I got the completed menus, here is what they will look like, I will also be adding a sound clip from the soundtrack to the main

Im still hopeing I can get everything done by Christmas, but it will be close, if not hopefully by New Years everything will be done

No, it was typically resulting in this type of artefact:

Correct:

Conclusion: if you're carrying out any colourspace conversion, make sure you do it after IVTC. ;-)

Thanks Moth

Sorry I didnt answer the colorspace question, I was just occupied with showing the menus screens I must have overlooked it. Moth is right, that was the problem.

As for the intro with the red/violet skies, I dont plan on altering it. The reason for this is because I dont know for sure if its supposed to be like that or not. I dont have the LD to compare but the on VHS the color scheme seems to be very similar to what is on the HD broadcast, so Im guessing it was intended to be this way as it does represent the transition from night to dawn accurately and I would assume it was how it was filmed.

Obviously we would only know this for sure if an official DVD would be released

That menu looks rally nice.Simple and clean.

If I remember correctly, that intro was that way in the theatrical release.I saw it about 5 times when it came out as I raced BMX back then and the whole team would hit up the mall.

I think the HD release produces a bit more than the VHS/BETA ( I had this on BETA ! ) but I never saw it on LD

I all honesty I never really understood why it was like that? It was like 'BMX meets Night of the Comet' type thing LOL ... kinda how every movie has to be in 3D now ... just one of those effects that is popular.

If that is the case, then why post a thread?  It is like how some of the concept artists on this forum site act like Pai Mei when it comes to revealing how they perform their magic and refuse to disclose any details or hints, as if it is some trade secret.
