TADA!!!

Seriously, what a petty little fuckwit.

Er... no, Zigfried (75.128.124.130) was the fuckwit.

AWK just created the article and wrote the first paragraph, can't see any harm in that.

I just discovered this now:

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Trioculus

Trioculus

A three eyed mutant named Trioculus who is trying to take over the empire? I wonder who his main enforcer is going to be...Captain Boomerang maybe?

This is probably old news for you guys, but it was a laughable shocker for me. I had to keep making sure I was not being taken in by some kind of spoof, even now I'm not 100% sure that this is not a joke.

Oh and the spikes on the shoulders are SO EVIL!!! The corner of my eye keeps seeing a little smiley face hanging above his shoulder, but it's actually a 3 prong plug socket or drain or something.

EDIT: Oooh ok. so he tried to take the throne from ANOTHER guy with 3 eyes called Triclops.

lol, expanded universe.

FINAL EDIT: He retrieved the glove of Darth Vader from the Valley of the Giant Oysters.

Yeah, the Glove of Darth Vader was some of the first EU and written for kids.  And was awful.  It never ceases to amaze me that they try to fit it into the canon.

I feel kind of pompous for making fun of it if it's a kids story...but kids deserve better! I mean, I fell in love with Star Wars as a kid.

But if they are trying to make it canon, as in part of the sprawling EU that includes things like Mara Jade killing off a clone of her husband just so she could scratch that itch...to hell with it!

Heh ... yeah, I remember The Glove of Darth Vader.  I also remember the first book in that Goosebumps-style "horror" Star Wars series for kids, the one with the weird holographic cover.  I don't remember the name of it, but I do remember it being awful.

Here you  are:

Nothing derogatory anyway. Trying to kick the OT.com article off the site for not being notable enough strikes me as a dig at this site.

I agree. This site gets a huge amount of hits and the contributions towards the fandom made by you guys is undeniable.  I think the attitude towards this site and it's members from some of the fans who are accepting of anything and everything with Boba Fett in it is pretty hilarious. I've noticed digs at this place, makes it worth being a member.

This site is one of the reasons the GOUT was released at all, and will be a reason when a restored OOT is released years from now--its a terrific pressure point other than general sentiments "in the air" that people want the originals. "No, they actually put together a petition with 75,000 names." Makes a big difference in demonstrating demand in tangible ways.

EDIT

Speaking of which--why is the petition down?? It was taken down when it was announced the originals were coming to DVD in early 2006, but I don't know why it wasn't put back up the second the whole LD fiasco hit the fan. I would put a modification to "released on Blu-Ray" rather than "DVD", or simply not specific a format, because I'm sorry, the worlds best LD-capture as a bonus feature is not really what the petition was asking for. The OT.com mission statement was not completely fullfilled.

Very true Zombie, I have never felt the mission of this site was completed. I guess enough people were satisfied with the LD transfer bonus feature that Jay decided not to mess with it anymore. And I guess maybe there was fear that after having this petition out for years and years, and finally receiving a response (even though it was in the twilight of the DVD), that turning around and saying "Okay, now that we got that... NEW PETITION! We want it on BLU-RAY now!" would have made us sound like a bunch of discontent brats, which is what we often seem considered to be throughout SW internet fandom.

Interesting little story, I was at the store the other day picking up some last minute things for Thanksgiving and decided to swing by the movie section to see if there were any decent pre-Black Friday deals. "Excuse me sir." said an older woman who was standing nearby, "did you ever get into that Star Wars stuff?" Suppressing a grin and wondering how out of all the other customers around she had managed to pick me for this quesion, I responded "Yeah, I loved it when I was a kid."

"Ah good. I have a grandson who is only eight, he is a bit of a jock and has never really been into this kind of thing, but lately he has been showing a bit of interest. I know there is some newer stuff made more recently but it just doesn't look all that interesting to me. What I am looking for are those older movies, are these them?" She held out a copy of the most recently released box set containing episodes IV, V, and VI.

"Yeah, those are the ones made in the 70's and 80's, they're definitely the ones you want, the newer ones really aren't even worth bothering about."

She asked me a few more questions, including whether or not they were on Blu-ray yet. Kind of a funny random encounter. To me this really helps indicate what a higher status the original trilogy holds over all this new garbage that bares the same name. Even this 60 year old grandma who didn't even know enough about the movies to recognize them by their title was concerned with making sure she got the good ones for her grandson.

That 60 old was in her swinging 30s in 1977.  What's her excuse?

So shouldn't people here try to prove on wikipedia that the entry should be kept on the site and that the topic is "notable" enough to qualify for that? They're demanding proof that this site had the petition with all that number of signatures. Is there some page that the article can be linked to to prove that? It might be worth pointing out how the GOUT matches the petition's idea of a two-disk edition including the original film and the SE, which suggests that the GOUT was in response to the petition. If this site can be said to have gotten the GOUT made then that's an argument in favor of the notability of the site as a wiki topic.

I despise wookiepedia. Just take a look their blaster article, it's a jumbled self contradictory mess. They explain the same process twice with different wording, on the same page! I tried editing it several times and it was just reverted and they banned my IP after the third attempt to edit. So I gave up and will never visit the site again.

It's a damn useful site. I don't get into trying to edit stuff on sites like that. I think you're bound to end up pissed off if you do. I got some bullshit treatment on one wiki site and since then I've stuck to reading the sites and not editing. I've found wookieepedia very useful. That's not to say I agree with all their policies and attitudes.

The fact there's a lengthy article on blasters at all is kinda silly. Here's my attempt at a more concise article.

As I am one who doesn't ever feel the need to punch up the wookiepedia, may I ask what is useful about it?

Well, it's better than the DragonBall wiki - riddled with dub names, power levels, and outright misinformation and speculation.
