I am a little late but the main reason I put blue LED's in Luke's hand was so he could change the batteries out in the dark. LOL. maybe he tweeks the settings once in a while.

If I had the talent, I'd make an animated gif of the arm with a holographic blinking "12:00" projecting out of it.

:-)p

Man, revisiting those pics just makes me want it to be 2010 already :D

he "skin" doesn't look enough like Mark Hamill's skin, it doesn't match, so the prosthetic is too obvious.

The hand in the picture is a real hand... but it is not Mark Hamill's hand. He was not present when the closeup effects shot was shot.

I think that the "deadness" that some people have complained about with the prosthetic could be solved by adding a bit of red around the edges, though.

The upper arm is also too thick and cylindrical. It needs to taper so that the wrist has a more natural shape.

I think also that some very slight movement could be added when the actor flexes the hand and wrist muscles.

Oldfan said:

It looks like there are already some small red l.e.d. lights inside his arm, so if ady wanted to add a little something to the shot, he could probably just make a couple of the lights blink once or twice and that would be enough. The whole glowy blue neon thing, while cool-looking, seems to be too much.

Indicator lights should be there to indicate something. It would make sense to lit a red light only to warn if there is a malfunction or risk of overstressing in the hand.

When industrial designers put a blinking/strobing/pulsating light in a device that is idle just for aesthetics, users complain and hand in the device for service or return it to the store.

Anakin had to settle for a metal prosthetic, wheras only 20 years later, it's possible for someone to get a bionic hand that looks like the real thing.

Btw.. Anakin's robotic hand starts lower down on his arm in ROTS than where Dooku made the cut it in AOTC..

An in-universe explanation for this goof could be to say that they were able to regenerate parts of the body near the trauma. A section of Anakin's arm -- the skin on Luke's hand.

That has nothing to do with what I said. I was saying that the "flesh" on the prosthetic forearm doesn't look the same colour as the real hand. Whether it was really Mark Hamill's or not is completely irrelevant. But thanks for the correction.

If they wouldn't have cut my line ("That's not Mark Hamill's hand!") we could have saved a few posts.

Well there are many examples to look at when it comes to Cyber hands, take movies like->

I Robot

RoboCop 1 2 3

Class of 1999

Star Trek: First Contact    ( ..wait..just a suggestion !)

Nemesis 1 2 3 4    ( has a female body builder as a hero robot in the 3 last movies :p )

Cyborg 1 2 3    ( Angelina Jolie stars in nr.2 )

Terminator 1 2 3 4

American Cyborg: Steel warrior

Steel frontier

Steel dawn  has Patrick Swayze in it.

Cyborg Cop ..no wait, they suck and use a robotic glove...

Some..well a lot of these movies suck hard but they can give some indication or hint towards different hands...if anyone has these they can pull some stills here and there, just to give a illustration to other hands.

Ah! Id say contribution to the site counts tenfold as opposed with sitting and waiting to see what new members can offer you there IrishLuck. Same smartarse answer I'd have given probably.

Not sure of your background (as ive only seen u now and again), but you were a little harsh there dude. Give the fella a break.

Although said and done, fishman, you are REALLY bloody grating my cheese at times......

Huge thread, apologies if this has been mentioned:

I just watched the 2 minute teaser and noticed the audio/dialogue seem to be higher pitched, almost like sped up. I doubt this was intentional and I assume it's just this particular export, but am I crazy or have others noticed it too?

Edit: While I'm here, what's the expected release date for ep5? I'm like anxiously awaiting it, as we all are.

Ady is in England, so he works in PAL.  If you're watching in NTSC, it's going to sound a little sped up.  He doesn't bother with the format conversion for some of the test clips but everything will be converted properly for the final release.

Are you a PAL user? I heard PAL speeds up NTSC since it runs at a faster rate.

Thanks, man. I just found ANH:R recently and being a huge fan of the OT but always enjoying good additions and extras, I will say I was super impressed with it. And of course, I'm like a junkie to the dealer waiting for ep5.

Hello, I'm back. Tough times at work, finally back here. I've noticed Luke's prosthetic arm is now on the table, maybe it could be fixed changing the coloration of the arm segment where all the mechanisms appear? so that it goes better with the real hand moving?

Thank you ImperialFighter, sorry I must have misunderstood that part somewhere, I tried to read all the posts to catch up before saying anything maybe that one slipped me.
