I could see it was a bit random, but didn't notice that either. Well, we'll just have to blame Vaderios. ;)

Joking of course :P

Also joking, of course. Haha. ;)

Seriously, it's an interesting idea. I always thought the way it was done was a little weird in both movies. In ANH, it's like the big laser is formed from all the small ones and pushed out by some invisible force or something, and in ROTJ, it looks like the small ones serve no purpose because the big laser comes out of the middle anyway.

How about changing R2-D2 'floating' down the stairs to Docking Bay 94 to something like him 'walking' down the stairs in the Naboo Plaza in AOTC?

He's not floating down. Look again, he's walking.

Perhaps they are adding a secret ingredient to the big ray (MSG ?).

I watched the sequence ten or so times after your post, and you can clearly see (especially when doing it frame by frame or in slow motion) R2-D2 'floating' down the stairs. He is obviously suspended on wires during the sequence to make it look as if he waddles down the stairs.

Why don't someone build him a wheelchair lift!?

I think that ANH needs an "Enhanced Edition" that fixes errors in the Theatrical version, as well as the countless errors of judgement from the 2004 editions.

Didn't some guy already do that? I forget his name...but I know there's a thread about it somewhere. I think there's also a thread about what can be done after his so-called "Revisited" version. Now, if only I can remember his name!

Yeah, but Adywan's version wasn't enough like the Enhanced edition I was thinking.

Make a list of what you want to add/enhance/remove/replace/etc.

I hope to be a big list to have something to read as long im searching Nessie.

Go for it :D

Crawl fixed to restore music cues, whilst retaining the “A New Hope”, done in a style akin to ChainsawAsh’s titles.

Colour correction of the whole film (using Adywan’s Purist Version).

All blaster and lightsaber effects redone. New miniatures/CGI for opening battle, and Jawa sandcrawler.

When Vader strangles the Rebel, have the Imperial March playing.

Beru’s original voice restored.

Re-edit the ‘Tell me about my father.” conversation, Obi-wan now hesitates and thinks about his answer to Luke, trying to explain it, to justify the lie.

ChainsawAsh’s Mos Eisley scene, or something akin except KEEP the CGI aspects of Mos Eisley, I for one really enjoyed the addition of Womp Rats, Rontos, the whole Jawa thing.

Han shoots first, restore the theatrical version almost completely.

All subtitles in original positions and fonts.

The deleted Jabba scene restored, Jabba recoloured to match ROTJ.

Falcon’s engines restored.

All the continuity and cut errors fixed with Luke’s lightsaber training.

Make it much harder to get to the control room, have Han and Chewie taking out more of the Stormtroopers on the way.

Have several Stormtroopers speak in Kiwi accents throughout, to make it clearer that these are the same troopers from the PT.

The Obi-wan/Vader duel is slightly longer, and themes from the duel in ROTS are added.

Re-modelling the Falcon/TIE battle.

The Rebel’s secret base is now changed to be more complex.

The entire assault on the Death Star is restored to the theatrical version, except the lasers, which are improved.

When the Death Star explodes, we see the theatrical explosion, contained within the SE explosion, with huge chunks of Death Star flying outwards.

The final scene matches the Revisited version, except we don’t see a shiny new Artoo, he’s still a bit beaten up because the Rebel’s are so short-supplied.

Done by ady. What new CGI? do you have in mind a new choreography for the ships? id like to know it

Interesting but ady already add good amounts of Imp march already.

He hesitates enough i think

So what i see here is a back and forth edit that implies new scenes but you want to restore the action to several places to the poor one of 70s.

I dont get the point of restoration of some parts when you want to push some others further.

Anyways post some pics of how you think some of your enhanced shots.

just watched revisited again and something struck me that i don't think i've seen mentioned before. please correct me if i'm wrong. all the writing is alien but the numbers -- in luke's cockpit, during the death star countdown -- aren't. it doesn't really make sense for them to use the same numbers as us, so i think it would be neat if these were changed. what do you guys think?

Author
Time

Good call. But is there any indication that aurebesh have number symbols?

actually i just looked at the newAurabesh font mentioned in that wookieepedia article, and it has characters for numbers. the article says they're based on "technical readouts" -- not sure what technical readouts they mean, but it sounds good enough for me.

I presume Obi-Wan is his real name (not translated for our ears) so where does that leave Artoo and Threepio?

Author

That's actually pretty interesting.  Parts of it (I feel) are quite an improvement, but other parts clearly suffer from a lack of additional footage that wasn't included in the movie - there are a lot of jump cuts.  For what the guy had to work with, though, it's very well done.

Whether or not the idea is similar to Ady's or not falls away, as it is the implementation of the idea. I have a very specific vision for Star Wars, and I'm not saying Ady's versions aren't spectacular, because they are, but what I want is something different, a definitive version, for myself.
