fishmanlee, was that your Geonosis work where you made it look like a night shot?
Sometimes subtle things like that can make so much difference.

All i did was mess around by moving the contrast slider all the way and click auto contrast, levels, and color THEN click sharpen and render lighting effects an putting on those lights u see in the distance it was all photoshop (translation: its very easy anyone can do it)

that would make a bit more sence assuming he isnt wearing asbestos gloves
Been away from these boards for a while due to problems with my computer.
Going back to the topic of lightsaber colours (don't shoot me) I think the only Jedi in the PT that should possibly have Green is Qui Gon. He was always portrayed as a Maverick who is at odds with the council, and it just seems like the kind of thing he'd do.
Dooku's should be blue. The mere fact that he's fighting his own shows he's renegade. We don't need a new colour to show that.
Does anyone else think that perhaps Grievous should have some Vader-esque breathing, in an edit where Vader's identity is less obvious? What I mean is, where he coughs, he should take Vader breaths, and then when Anakin gets left on Mustafar, we don't see Palpers comingand helping him, we just see Vader being built, leaving it ambiguous as to whether Grievous or Anakin is Vader. To aid this perhaps also have Obi-Wan say something along the lines of, "You were my first apprentice." to Grievous, during their duel, so as to leave the ANH talking about Vader, seem more like Obi-wan is ashamed for killing Anakin.
Maybe he could have a Vader shaped head (that might add ambiguity to Vader's actual identity):

*EPIC PIC*
Vader in ROTS hasnt many weird shots. it can easy 3d tracked with and replace his (IMO the best) helmet with this.
-Angel
I was thinking more along the lines of giving that head to Grievous and have him fall off the platform to an uncertain end.
Crude but you get the idea:
That way Vader could be Anakin or Grievous.
This one is nice too
I actually like Grievous now with that head
GL stated that he grievous should NOT look like vader.
Plus what you propose is near impossible to be done.

That's part of the problem. The PT is exactly what George wants as it is.
As for changing it sure it would be very, very difficult but I imagine not impossible.
Grievous is a model (a CGI model but a model none the less).
Some of the shots of Christopher Lee mapped over his stunt double were pulled off well (not all sadly) and that was one human head on the body of another.
The mask I linked to will soon be available to buy, film and scan and it's a model that can be mapped onto another model, surely easier to pull off than mapping a human head onto another human body.
The handling of the Vader's identity was really buggered up by Lucas so throwing in a bit of ambiguity serves the story better.
If I had my own way Grievous would look almost exactly like Vader so when Vader turns up in ANH first time viewers would just assume he was brought into the Empire as part of the peace process.
It seemed daft to me that Lucas wrote in a cyborg general and didn't try to pull something like that off.
i for one think its a great idea but its as vaderios said its hard work
its as a wise smuggler said: "but whos gonna fly it kid? you?"

3d tracking in a face without trackers is like chasing God with lightspeed. In other words impossible.
more easy is to make Grievous darker and less yellow and cover his eyes with lenses rather can we expect to replace him totaly with something new or a new head as well.
Lets be realistic.
Ideas all all good to come but you can always think if its possible to be done ( with the present tools of trade and fan knowledge)

I didnt see you giving any ways or ideas to make this work.
Now you remember : Contribution

The thread is for ideas of a radical nature if someone can figure out the how, the idea is there for them to use, if not it's just a few lines in a thread with some equally difficult notions to realise.
Surely matching up a physical model with existing footage is just as hard for a adding a head in motion as it is for adding a CGI creature or a physical model of vehicle like a Walker to footage in motion.
At least the mask is as artificial as the model already is.
We are talking a lot of hard work but for such a pay off if someone is willing and dedicated enough to pull it off.
i was wondering does grievous need eyes? maybe take out his eyes? maybe make him one eyed like a pirate[lol]?

I think the PT needs to be set up to mirror the OT, if that makes sense. In Episode 1, we should see a scenario similar to ANH, Clones should see the shit hit the fan, akin to ESB, and Revenge should see something similar to Jedi, if the Emperor had won.
adywan said:The end shot in ROTS shouldn't have shown the Death Star being created but instead a vast shipyard of the Imperial fleet being built (which it will do in my edit). So all available money was being ploughed into creating the Empire. The whole ending of that movie was just too rushed to tie up all the loose ends
Digging old posts I remembered this.
Now I made several thoughts about that and how it should look. No matter what it should be in great scale and more extended view of it. having Imp SDs replacing slowly the Venators SD, this shot(s) should be balanced from the point of the wow fact so its not overshadow the previous money shots. Models/mattes and 3d should be in the blender to give a stunning result with the blessings of OT feeling.
I will make some mockups for sure for brainstorming.
-Angel
PS: Do you think that is good to include executor (as present from the emperor to Mr V.)? Or just leave only capital ships on the scene?

I would like to see the executor only in the OT. It would make it more like it is the newest technology. Top of the line.
"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

I'm with EyeShotFirst. Save it for the OT.
It sounds like you're on the right track, Angel. It doesn't have to be the "money shot" of the whole movie. Just an impressive shot.
Maybe you can give it an OT feeling by mimicing the shot composition from shots from the OT...or just mimic some Ralph Mcquaire paintings...did that make sense? The way they use to compose the shots in the OT would have massive scale.

Actually, that could be pretty cool for ROTS and ROTJ. Sort of like, you watch Episode 3, and think the good guys will win, but it all goes to hell unexpectantly, and that trilogy ends on a bad note. Then at the end of the next trilogy, the same situation has occured, only this time the light side manages to win, after failing once, and we get the happy ending.
I know this is already what we get, but some structure and tone changes to make this sort of an evident theme would be good. ROTS and ROTJ are both in need of a shake-up, anyway (in terms of structure).
I did suggest this some aeons ago...
Bingowings said:It might be better to show the twins being born and then do a series of time jumps showing the transition between the Republic era ships and Imperial era ships, (perhaps a few battles with the Alliance) the Clonetroopers and the Stormtroopers, have Padme die on Alderaan and see little Leia at her funeral on Alderaan (possibly aged 3 or 4) and finish with the construction of the Death Star with Peter playing Tarkin not Wayne in a Halloween mask.
The transition idea could be very doable you could see a ROTS style Star Destroyer wipe into a ANH/ESB style Destroyer etc, etc and finish with Vader and Palpatine looking at the construction of the Death Star surrounded by Imperial ships showing that it was built closer to the timeframe of ANH than ROTS. (a bit like the end sequence of the Enterprise finale where we saw Enterprises D, NCC1701 and NXwhatever only in reverse http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXotJu1CapU&feature=related).
It would also serve as a bookend for the celebration montage at the end of ROTJ, instead of seeing the defeat of the Empire playing out over space we'd see the growth of the Empire over time.
Forgive the roughness of this mockup as per:
I agree with Ithilgore. If you watch ROTS without knowing anything about the OT, or even that it exists, you get the same effect as I got when first playing Halo. You get to what feels like starting to wrap up the story and get to the big finalé, you think "this was a bit short", and then everything goes to HOLYSHIT ZOMBIE ALIENS EVERYWHERE SHIT SHIT SHIT RUN! Well, that's Halo, in ROTS it's more "Holy Xanatos Gambit Batman!"
