It's not clear where they are headed, what direction that day/night terminator is headed, or why they have to have the DS lower the shield in the first place.

Seriously, I just remembered how much that's always bothered me.  Why do they have to lower the shield to land and spend at least a day approaching the shield generator?  Does the shield spread out around the ground so that you can't dive bomb the generator or do exactly what the Rebels try to do?  What do the Ewoks think that are trapped on the other side of the shield?

You know best 005 that ROTJ is full of copy pastes and poor compositing work. Death star is always look the same. I was wondering why they made the model if it was to use only one angle of it? It seems also to be in different places between shots.

I agree totaly with you that something can be done to this particular scene.

The dawn concept stands with the idea of variation and to show that several hours passed since rebels landed and prepared.

I love the hangar here! Id prefer the shot without the ships ofc.

Something that dont look right to me is the shadow type. sun creates hard shadows( as we see in your rock pic) but it has some soft shadows on the palace (im not talking about the curvature)

a + tip is good to add some sky illumination to the palace as sublight as well to some rocks.

I like that. It feels more like a night shot! the over contrast lights do their job preety awesome as the subltle night stars from behind!

Its me or the shuttle element is the same with the one that is in the forest shot?

dont bother to ask about the death star :) I ll try to find a better angle of it and the correct lighting.

Oh and it needs the Death Star II....oh wait....you told us not to ask :)

Looking forward to seeing the final pic and I'm sure you'll get a good looking angle for the DSII.

I didnt save that shot in HD but its easy to be done again. I have the sunset and sunrise tho! I will give them to you as present :P

Damn! Bingowings that is amazing - I think the shuttle is a little too close to the Death Star on the first mock-up (though I know that's just a test) and you might do some other little tweaks here and there with the other mock-up, but on the whole they look rather magnificent (the 2nd one being my fave).
