I haven't really done anything to it since then. So I guess I could fix the sides, add the flashy background to the duel I made for Ep 4 to Ep 5 and 6 and then do the back for six tomorrow.

No rush, my friend.  I just wanted to make sure I didn't miss a download link or something.  Your covers capture Ady's masterpiece perfectly.... Thank you for taking the time to share!

Alright, I've been getting many requests for a re-up of my 1990's VHS-style covers.  I've made some subtle changes since the last upload - here are the new ones (quality on the samples isn't as good as last time because I resized them after upload to Imgur instead of beforehand):

And, because I've also gotten complaints that the black text on the Star Wars cover is hard to read (though it's faithful to the original), I made a version that includes white text instead:

Personally, I think that's harder to read than the black one, but I figured I'd give people the option.  It's not like these are 100% faithful to the originals anyway (due to the difficulty in finding the actual images used on the backs of the originals).

All 4 are included in the download, which is here.

I've also been toying with the idea of doing similar covers for the prequels, but ... well ... I hate the prequels, so the task is proving challenging at best - I'm just not motivated to do it, really.  But if anyone can give me a good synopsis to use for the back of them (specifically TPM), that would help tremendously.  Note that my TPM cover would be intended for use with Adywan's theatrical DVD, and as such would use its runtime instead of the DVD's.  But other than that, there won't be any special features listing or anything, so if you don't mind a small runtime discrepancy (not even sure what the runtime difference would be between the theatrical and DVD cuts of TPM), it could easily be used for the official DVD as well.  Or both.

Thanks for the upload.

Maybe for the white text cover, you could up the contrast on the Han photo and make it much more readable.

I've never made a Blu-Ray cover before, but I'd certainly consider it.

Luke looks a little blurred in that ROTJ cover
Maybe use this image? (just needs a bit of cleaning up)

Which image of Luke?  And you're going by the full-res version, correct?  The thumbnail looks a little fucked up because I resized it using Imgur instead of resizing in Photoshop prior to uploading.

Are there any nice Blu ray AVCHD covers and labels for original trilogy?

Legend of zelda anyone? "You got the master saber!"

I've got my own cover to throw in (its not finished yet)

Are you actually making Luke's saber blue?

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Why Revenge though? Surely the reasons for Jedi not taking revenge are well known at this point. And why reorder the cast billing so oddly?

"Revenge" because it "will" (if i can get/recreate the footage) have stuff that didnt make it into the final cut (and maybe stuff that wasnt shot) of ROTJ so its basicly a "lost cut" of ROTJ and if you look into the last of the Revenge [?] scripts it has the saber scene (which im going to try to recreate) and Lukes blue saber. Also the billing is that way because i tryed to type it from memory at first

We had a big "should it have been Revenge of the Jedi & Return of the Sith?" discussion a while back (I think it was the ESB/ROTJ wishlist thread).

Personally, if Luke can forcechoke guards and slice anyone who gets in his way with his lightsaber, I don't see why he wouldn't be able to take revenge. Anakin (no longer Vader) sure takes revenge on Palpatine.

There wasn't any revenging going on in episode 3 anyway. The Sith just returned "with a bang".

Many here thought the title change was to drastic though, so we just left it there.

I'm not sure I would have bothered watching The Bangs Of The Sith.

K, the great purge much? Mmm?

LOL! The Great Purge indeed. No, no revenge going on at all there.

Exactly who does Luke "slice" who gets in his way? Star Wars? No-one. Empire? No-one. Jedi? No-one, he just defends himself in a fight on the Sail Barge, then duels with Vader. Hardly a raging psychotic. And if you don't know why Luke won't take revenge yet the Sith do, I wonder what exactly you think the difference between the two is. And Anakain is saving his son and restoring good to the galaxy when he kills Palpatine. It's not simple revenge for what he's done to him personally.

Revenge is personal.

All we ever heard in the films is that the Jedi and Sith don't like each other. Is simply killing each other revenge? Revenge for what?

I don't buy "self defense" either, he could've used force pushes or mindtricks. No need to choke people. Luke isn't bound by the same dogmatic rules as the old Jedi anymore, he kind of just does what makes sense to him.

We know the Sith had the Jedi killed, taking revenge for that makes sense.

It is never mentioned in the films why the Sith disappeared, so why would it be revenge?

Anyway, we had this discussion before, les goûts et les couleurs...

I'm not sure I would have bothered watching The Bangs Of The Sith.

Not the HD version, I apologize. EU, yes I know, but it does answer those questions. Made that in my free time a few years back. Right. DVD Cover thread.
