Nobody on here is a licensed doctor just so you know.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

Geez, the colors in TPM are really washed out, wonder why? Your mock ups look amazing vaderios.

The person your searching for simply does not exist

m, not a fan of your ROTS colours.

Is it really necessary to completely desaturate all walls? They look incredibly fake to me now.

Your blacks are very black as well. There's hardly any detail in the robes left!

In some parts i go with the thought what ady did to death star to ANH:R.

In the temple now i guess you are right about the walls. it seems i forgot to paint the illumination form the sky and the floor.

Well thats short of the style, especial in the trade federation ship.

Like i said, im not quite happy with the temple result because the colors are so messed up and it needs time ( which i dont have) to make it look right ;)

Now, if its good or bad to add some rust parts to trade federation floor or walls is a matter of taste and time to apply.

Maybe i ll try to do something

thanks for the feedback, it reminds me to be more careful :D

Those look great Vaderios! I don't think you missed much illumination on the floors, because they're not polished glass and so wouldn't be so reflective.

There seems to be something of an obsession with putting reflections in everywhere. Has no-one heard of matt surface finishing? :-)

Those mock-ups are so awesome! Those Trade Federation ones are perfect IMO. Great job!

Looking good as always. Oh, and I did figure out how to do this in AE... lol   Just that it would take YEARS to do a whole movie that way. =)   Not saying i wouldn't though.

I was looking through net,

from where is the second pic from?

I did not make this but see, the background is correct.

Checked AOTC or ROTS quickly and i didnt find something similar. maybe im wrong.

Hoping to fix the continuity errors in TPM with the blu ray edition.

I just hope GL has alot of work (not CGI) done on the films when he releases the Blu Ray editions. It will make fan editing work so much easier.

The special effects in TPM have aged really well (unlike the whole of AOTC and some parts of ROTS, which look like a joke), which is lucky, because bad CG seems to be pretty hard to fix in fan editing. The washed out colours that are making the film age badly seem to be easy enough to fix, though.

Well if the fan editor was a CGI guru then they would have to redo all of AOTC and ROTS because they are almost 95 percent of CGI.

Vaderios, I believe that particular shot is from the AOTC deleted where Obi-Wan has Jango Fett's dart analysed by analysis droids. It was the first special effects scene finished but also the first scene to get cut :P

I agree with Ithilgore, the special efffects of TPM have aged the best. There are some really awful effects in AOTC, but I think part of that is because the shot the film digitally. Everything in AOTC looks too clean and fake. Seems they had that all worked out in ROTS, I think ROTS has great effects. The only thing I think looks truly bad is the Obi-Wan vs Grievous duel. The composition is bad, but the inconsistant backgrounds make it even worse.

It agree that it holds up, and most likely because it was shot on film... the grain, the softer picture... It tends to give it a more organic look. But there is no way that this couldn't be simulated in a fan edit. That's really the easy part IMHO.

Ah! thanks for the info.

TPM has the sydrom of all the old movies. Movies like Jurasic park or Starship troopes have awesome "aged" effects that looks decent even now.

No no no. AOTC has many awfull effects. It looks too cartoonish and blury as far the blue screen just dont works so well.

I agree with you in ROTS. I ve never noticed the backgrounds just the messed up in the lightsaber positions and colors

The first fight between Obi-Wan and Grievous is a mess, in my opinion. It seems they didn't really know what they wanted to make of the fight or maybe it was changed because they didn't have enough time, but it's quite sloppy.

The compositing job done on McGregor is quite bad. They even used footage of McGregor that was shot (but cut) from the Mustafar duel with Anakin and it shows. The eyeline between him and Grievous are way off too. None of the elements in the scene really match.

Also, the whole background doesn't make any sense. When Obi-Wan looks down on the Separatist meeting, Grievous we see that the floor is flat. But when Grievous pushes Obi-Wan back, they are walking on beams. And where is did that thing Obi-Wan dropped on Grievous' guards, and their bodies, go?

Personally, I'd rather see the scene go and have the confrontation between Grievous and Obi-Wan be interrupted by the arrival of the Clones even before they fight. If you want to show how badass Grievous is, put in the deleted scene of him killing Shaak Ti aboard the Invisible Hand. Much better, if you ask me.

I don't mean to make this about me...although I had a question...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rHxbhpMowpk&feature=channel_page

Regardless of whether you liked the execution of the video, do you think something along these lines might help improve the movie?

I mean, does anyone agree that it's weird just having Liea pop up in the Ewok village all dressed up in a different outfit with no explination?

I guess what really bugs me is that there is not enough interaction between the the three main characters. Like, how about something like, "Liea! How did you get here?" "Liea! That hair style makes you look old!" ;)

So again, would something like watching Liea go into the village help smooth the transition to Ewok Village Outfit Liea?  ;)

I think it would help... If possible. And it may be. If we could find a good matte of the Ewok village we might be able to show leia and Wicket going towards it... Maybe fade into the shot as if time has passed.
