I hear good things about the x264 codec.... Never had problems installing codecs before, but I'm having no luck with this one. I found a read me file for it, but it didn't help me either. Can anyone help me? I tried searching for this, but got nothing.

Well, you'll probably need to give a little more info... You want to encode something with it?? What software do you want to use it with? What's the specific problem?

x264 is not a VFW codec - so, unlike Xvid or DivX and so on, you cannot use it from within VirtualDub. (Actually, I see there is a VFW version, but it's not officially supported).
Most people use Mencoder or MeGUI to encode.

ffdshow provides a VfW interface to libavcodec, the same library used by mencoder.
However, in practice you must take into account the “fuckwit factor”. Just talk to Darth Mallwalker…
