That's actually a great idea. I'm not sure which boards but I am sure there has to be some aspiring voices actors out there who would jump at a chance to put something like this on their resume. Ex: "Yeah, did you ever download AOTC:Revisted? I performed Jango Fetts new voice!"  ;)

Any board in my opinion. Does anyone have any suggestions where to take this?

I'm an inactive member on the VAA, so if you need any obviously-teenage extras I'm your man.

Can you do the older Anakin?

Strangely enough I seem to prefer yours over the original... It seems to be a little more... I don't know. Better?

So, good work, man!

What did you use to record with? Will you be able to record at a high quality level for this project?

Author

Yes, though I really liked the voice acting, I can't say the same thing about the microphone quality...

This is obviously not your fault, though! But if mrbenja is planning to redub ALL of the dialogue the quality of the recordings used should be consistent throughout the movie.

MrBenja0618, do you plan on changing any lines for the movie? Is this a project of your own? Or are you searching for people to do this for Ady's revisited project? If so, does he even know about this yet?

If you do plan on changing the dialogue, wouldn't it be appropriate to first rewrite the screenplay and see what amount of changes can be made? Since dialogue is the essential part of the story, nearly everything in the movie can be changed, right? Not everything of course, (to remain lip sync) but quite a lot of irritatingly bad dialogue can be polished.

I really like the idea of doing this, but if you are just trying to gather people to do this for the Revisited versions of the prequels (which are as Ady said many years away) I'm afraid that people that might be availible now might not be availible then and this might create some problems if you're beginning to early with this without Ady's knowledge.

I'm not trying to be negative about this project! I'm just saying that before you can find people who actually want to do this you might want to make some plans first. I saw your thread at the voice acting alliance boards and I saw that someone asked where to send the lines, etc... I think this confusion was created because you didn't add too many details in the first post.

We're all Star Wars fans here. And although most of us dislike the prequels we all know what Jar Jar sounds like and we can quote a few of his lines, even if only to mock him. But there, some people might own the prequels and would probably loose interest due to the lack of information. You said you wanted to redub the prequels, but readers of the forum topic might think you're just going to redub the exact same lines from the original, which in their eyes (and many others) would be unnecessary work.

Again, I'm only trying to provide constructive criticism. I suggest you take some time to think about what you want to achieve, how you want to do it,... make a plan! And then put the word out that you're searching for people to improve these movies.

People will only be interested in this if they can see that this has been thought out. If you just say: "Let's redub the prequels!" Without giving how to do it any thought and with assuming that possible candidates will exactly know what to do without you telling them, unfortunately this won't work. This is not your fault! Not at all! Your intentions are noble :p It's just that on a Star Wars board like this, this is recieved as a really good idea! On other boards people will just say: "Redub the first three Star Wars movies? Why?"

Again, I really admire what you did and do. I just wanted you to know what I think is lacking from this proposition of yours and I hope that my criticism will be helpful to you.

i think he means any edit not just adywans edit
for example, Trooperman's (shroud of the dark side?) edit, and JasonN's edits (no re-dubing but its a prequel edit)

I have a voice that is good. I've dabbled a bit in voice work, but haven't really pursued it because my interests lie elsewhere. My voice is a deep bass, mostly suited for narrations and the like. I do have a decent range, but I doubt if I can even make it into the treble clef. At any rate, in addition to having a solid voice, I also have a pretty long theatrical acting resume. So my point is, I can do the stuff if you need a bass voice. I'll have to dig up a microphone for a demo, but just thought I'd toss that out there.

Currently looking for the following preservations: V8 A Final Attempt by Arnie.D, Pre-ANH Bootleg Telecine, Starkiller '77 bootleg, LD OT by Cowclops, LD OT by Dr. Gonzo, LD OT by Farsight, LD OT by ISOMIX, LD OT by Dark/Sega Take 1, TPM Theatrical by Adywan, OT - Deliberate Creative, OCPMovie's Classic Editions, Pan & Scan O-OT Project, LD OT by EditDroid, Lucasfilm Pwnage Editions, Negative1 CED Preservations, Starkiller CED Preservation, Rowman bonus discs, BLAK0004, BLAK0009, BLAK0010, BLAK0016, BLAK0017, BLAK0029, BLAK0040, BLAK0046, BLAK0047-0050. I used Audicity to record my voice.  And yes, I am able to record at a high quality level.  I can even make the voice test that I already made into HQ.

The reason that I didn't was because this was simply an audition take.  It's to give you an idea of how my voice would sound over Watto's.

The voice test was merely for auditioning purposes only.  I can easily fix the quality of the audio.

And I agree.  The audio quality should be consistent throughout the movie.

Well, I didn't begin this thread, but I did like what was happening and wanted to get the ball running. I always felt like this was a group effort. The goal is to have a music and sound effects free audio track of the prequels. Anyone who has done a Star Wars edit knows the pain of trying to separate the music from the rest of the audio. Some dvd's soundtracks are possible, but SW has been impossible. Some have tried to remedy this by simply overlaying new music with the exisiting usually resulting in loud music and hard to hear dialogue. Many have shown interest in using different music cues, and it's just simply not completely possible unless there is no music in a scene to begin with... This complete word for word redub would allow editors to have this freedom. It would just be an amazing resource to have available.

Now as far as know how.... I would hope that those willing to redub characters would know how to do this in a high quality fashion. But perhaps I was wrong. Does anyone think we need to give step by step instructions on how to redub the audio?
