Dolby Digital on laserdisc is still compressed. (In fact, AC3 on LD at 384kbps is actually more compressed than a standard 448kbps AC3 track on DVD).

I hadn't realized that.  Thank you.

I also hadn't realized that Ady "released" Eppy 1 on AVC as well.  D'oh!  Sorry!

I did a project very similar to this about 2 or 3 years ago, using the official DVD and the TB as my sources as well (with an isolated soundtrack as well).  Even though I have the Ep. I LD, I never got around to getting a demodulator so that I could capture the 5.1 audio.  I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Ady I don't know where you get your energy from.

There is I imagine, a bit of a crossover (if you clean up a HD version of the post DVD cut making a version of the Theatrical cut is, in theory, made easier) and both will possibly help you eventually when you come to do your TPM:R.

But it's still work on work on work.

As grateful as we all are please don't burn yourself out.

My impatience is wearing down on me... may have to subscribe, rather than wait for a rapidshare version or torrent....

Great stuff, Ady.

This is a project I was considering tackling myself at some point - now I don't have to. And your colour correction is definitely a bonus.

Is it OK to download the files going up now or is there going to be a repack or proper along later... j/k :-)

btw, what is the difference with the theatrical and the DVD cut?

Author

Firstly, the difference between the theatrical and DVD versions can be seen here... http://www.dvdactive.com/editorial/articles/star-wars-the-changes-part-four.html

It must be over 4 years since I first uploaded the "missing" clips from the TB version for someone to make a theatrical version of TPM using the DVD as a source. That never happened so I am pleased to see this release come out.

Newsgroups! In the UK, any half decent ISP provides them free and has about a weeks retention which is more than enough if you download as something is posted.

Of course, for those people without a decent ISP, you can currently get 180GB of download for $25 which equates to arround $1 to download another fantastic piece of work by ADYWAN. Are those people who are anti-newsgroups saying that this is not worth $1?? Just asking..........

What are the known preservations of the theatrical TPM?  There are some blog posts which reference/screen cap one with a 'Z' in the corner.  Did this version have a name?

none

The TB "Canal Plus" version has a white + and a blue square next to it in the top right corner.

The TB was a tv broadcast if i'm not mistaken, i'm more alluding to theatrical cams/bootlegs/telecine/etc.
