I feel like I've just walked into the twilight zone. Here we are on a forum discussing what is in reality a bootleg collection and we critizice the previous bootlegs and say we want to do away with them. That is a bit hipocritical, don't ya think. Unless you are Vangelis himself, this is a bootleg project, the same (in all legal ways) as any other bootleg of the Blade Runner soundtrack. Don't play all high and mighty because you claim to be doing a restoration. All you are doing is taking bootlegs to another level by claiming it is a restoration. Some of your editing choices indicate a personal preference on your part that, unless you are in posession of the original master tapes (or copies thereof), you cannot justify some of you editing choices.

There are many bootlegs out there of blade runner, but some recent ones have been quiet stellar. I would much prefer the recent bootlegs by Sebastian, Vincente or GreyFedora than music that suffers from merging of tracks that shouldn't be. I don't know what sources these guys use, but they have tracks that are quiet clean and nice, particularly the music from Taffy's bar.

I'd recommend going to Yahoo and finding the Blade Runner Sondtrack group and request admission. They share some interesting music in flac and mp3 and they have better versions of the music from Taffy's bar than I have heard elsewhere.

@yotsuya

I Have to agree on this comment. This whole "Bootleg" thing is really getting old. I have seen the decrease of these item(s) being sold on eBay, meaning that most collector's have either had enough of way too many "Special, Limited Edition, Esper, MR3 or Crappy CDR fan made rip-offs of some other fan made "recording" issues.

It must be frustrating for a collector though, trying to get that "Ultimate Collection", As I have been monitoring this particular forum, It remains to be seen or "heard" for that matter. I own quite a physical collection of original "Boots" that I have purchased since the first one back in '93, some have been Excellent factory made pressings and most are just plain Crappy fan made CDR's. You can end up spending $30-500 USD, depending on which boot it is.

The Original Off World '93 [limited 2000 pressings] is a nice collector's item, but sounds like shit. The same applies for the Gongo release. However, I still believe the Deck Art [limited 500 pressing] was the best produced BR boot to date. There is of course having the rewards of being in the film industry and having a "Special Copy" of the master score sessions, But of a promise I made to a certain Composer, it will NEVER be duplicated or distributed publicly.

yotsuya - Please PM Me with the BR yahoo forum info.

@focuspuller

It is quite interesting to see the dedication of such a "Project", ultimately the sound will only be as got as the source master.

Good Luck on the "TCMC"

 I always find it interesting when a post like this, with a certain tone comes from someone "who has been montoring this thread", and yet has never posted before. Aside from the desire to make these kind of posts of course, which, from where I'm standing, seems to be a waste of time. I have made it clear in repeated posts what this project is, nothing more, nothing less. Take it or leave it, when it's released that is. Otherwise all of this is just verbal wanking.

p.s. The name dropping (or attept at it) doesn't impress me. Nor I should think anyone else.

I see You can Critique others but You can't handle it when others express themselves.

All I've read (for about a YEAR now) on this post is a bunch of Bullshit promises to fans of the score coming from You. The only thing I've found interesting enough to respond to was the post left by yotsuya and I don't recall dropping any names of the sort, but if I can see that Your behavior is a bit Rude to say the least -Asshole- Sorry, but You have it coming and it finally has to be said by someone. I call 'em like I see 'em and You define the word "Asshole". I seems You are just looking for attention and "popularity" from among strangers on the internet.

There are some people that might know more about this Blade Runner subject than You!

Thank you for your kind words. If you have an actual interest in this project beyond your need to make colorful comments, then I hope you find what you're looking for. Otherwise, I'm sure you can find what you're looking for elsewhere, perhaps from a "certain Composer" or whoever.

Where on earth have these 2 come from?  Or are they THE SAME PERSON?  You gotta love it!  This thread has been quiet for a while (with good reason of course focuspuller) .  Perhaps these 2 guys are someone just livening things up for no reason other to entertain (as they see)  or to annoy.. as the rest of us see it :-)  Conjecture.. I admit.  :-)

I apologise if my request for information opened a can of worms.

I am grateful for the help I received (which I assure you didn't involve the exchange of money) it just seemed logical at the time to post the request of information about a piece of Blade Runner music on a thread associated with that score.

I made a similar request on a Star Wars related thread, received a similar level of assistance (which I was also grateful for) so I was a bit surprised to check up on this projects progress and find it had this unintended incendiary effect.

 There is no need to apologise. Your request for information is part of what this thread is for. As for carrying on, every thread has a troll sooner or later so I consider it good luck.

They do not appear to be the same person - one posts from the US and the other from Europe.

Congratulations on the addition, Focuspuller!

On the other topic, I truly have nothing more to say. I read the responses and I don't appreciate name calling. While I liked seeing someone side with me, I don't want to be associated with someone who pops in to deliver scathing comments and insults.

I think people who resort to name calling need to grow up.

Congratulations on your new bundle of joy, focuspuller!  I've not had the experience myself, but imagine it to be life-changing...for the better.  Plenty of sleepless nights at first, though, I'm sure.

The 'project' will keep 'til you've caught up.  I'm certainly not going to look a gift horse in the mouth.  I couldn't even achieve one percent of what you've done so far, so I'll be really exited if it turns up one day...in the mean time...enjoy the time with your little girl.  I recommend lots of photos or movies...they grow up quick at that age!!

Well CONGRATULATIONS focuspuller!!!  Enjoy your new "road of life"!    :-)

Bumpy bump!  Just a little nudge to keep this thing alive.   I know Focuspuller has a little one now.. and was wondering... any news on the project?  Or is it now on hold indefinitely?   Could anyone else take over?   I only have 4 months of  peace left myself!  ;-)

 Yes, congrats!

Yes work continues, at a snaill's pace, and during free time which i have very little of, but it continues. I don't really have anything to report beyond that for the moment. But for the record, the project is NOT on hold.

Hey focuspuller!!!

Great hearing from you, and glad the project is still on!  Never thought you would end it, as, I understand your other "priorities" right now.  But thanks for the update!

focuspuller,

Great to hear from you!  No doubt you have very little free time right now for this project, but I must say I'm glad to hear that it's not on hold and the work continues, even if it is at a much slower pace.

I'm expecting my first in February and I can only imagine how little time I'll have for my current interests, but that's a change that I'm looking forward to...

Cheers
