It's not like you're gonna find many people praising Lucas on this forum anyway. There are fan edits for a reason ;)

as far as technology goes, i always just assumed it was something that was just standard, like in LOTR, technology seems to reamin at a standard level. perhaps its worth thinking of the technology like professional tennis techniques. the players only gradually improve, but certain techniques seem to be very popular until someone figures a counter to them, only for later on the old technique comes back around.

i must admit though the Exar Kun, Sith Empire and other old republic comics set as far back as KOTOR, did give an ancient feeling to STAR WARS. the spaceships were like submarines, and the lightsabers had power cords and looked much more fragile. the problem though, is artistically you want it to look like star wars i guess, and this era will allow alot more creativity to BioWare. Apparantly its going to have similar chunky graphics and gameplay to WOW, which would be better than the Galaxies format IMHO.

I think they described the graphics style as 'stylized realism' or something. The screenshots I've seen of in game stuff looks cartoony, but not chunky like World of Warcraft's characters (except the creatures that are anatomically that way)

Sorry to ask again but is there anywhere any footage or photographs the unblocked back of the Trade Federation battleships?

I know there weren't that many physical models made but it's almost impossible to find any source material.

Composing new shots with that ship in will be very difficult with the limited number of angles and unblocked shots seen in the films.

I'm not even sure if there were any good model kits made (so it would be upto scratch builders to provide the necessary...probably).

As for the advancment of tech in Star Wars, yeah Ive always thought that it proceeded very slowly, but it's just something Ive come to accept about Star Wars.

I went full geek over the jedi knight games. If this game is at least similar in game play then I will kindly swallow it like jabba the hut on frog slugs. Jedi academy was only good on multiplayer. They made Luke seem a little odd in it. Kyle was badass in dark forces 2.

 

okay, now were getting a bit off topic, but if you like jedi knight, there are two mods you HAVE to check out. maybe we should make a game mods thread as it is like a fan-edit.

made by the same genius. sadly doesnt include boc and jerec levels, but is a multiplayer version of the game, great for LAN play

i suggest playing these two together, with a simple glowsaber mod such as GLOWSABER X

Reference to the game trailer is fine if it inspires radical prequel redux ideas but perhaps it would be better if game reviews and the like should be moved over to the other boards.

What could be taken from these games and put into the films to change them for the better?

I read that the podracing seen on the screens in the bar in AOTC was from the podracing game so there may be lots of ways of using game footage and ideas in these films.

Thanks for the photos, it's a little too small and detail free for close up work but maybe if scaled down to the far distance it might be usuable for mock ups at least.

The paintwork isn't a problem I can remove that with PS.

I haven't seen all of the Clone Wars episodes do they turn up there at all?

they do indeed, the only episode i can think of though is 'storm over ryloth' it gets blown up too. episode should be on youtube somewhere.

It might work better if Yoda doesn't leave the ship until he steps outside to start his exile.

Moving the meditation and Bail's anouncement to the bridge of the Tantive.

I don't know if it's possible to move the arrival of Obi-Wan and Padme etc to the same corridor where Vader will later storm in ANH is possible but it would have a certain story resonance.

Watching this lovely mockup reminded me of something else which is a bit odd.

Why does R2 find it so amusing that his droid friend is about to be lobotomised?

Surely he should be making sounds of concern?

Compare it to the scene where Threepio is damaged and begs to be left behind in ANH R2 isn't laughing his little dome off there.

I like the way that Padme seems to have a telepathic link with Anakin and his pain is killing her not her just giving up.

That said, I would love to see an attempt to have Padme survive and live the rest of her short life on Alderaan so that Leia can remember her but people keen on her not being Luke's sister would not approve.

It would add to the confusion that Vader feels when he is told she is dead.

I think a simple finger twitch during funeral procession or something along those lines would convey that well.

Costumed vader has no place in ROTS IMO. At least if Anakin "dies" and never referred to as vader, there's an ambiguity and mystery to us seeing him in New Hope.
