Hi there,

Thanks a bunch to all the kind people who have taken time to share their feelings about the set. Indeed you're very few compared to the number of requests, and I hope some words from time to time about what some of you guys consider yet as the most beautiful edition of the Star Wars scores for now, will keep the thread alive. :)

I'm now leaving the share of this work to Beatho and Leonardo (see posts below).

I reedited my intro post to inform the set is also foundable on the alt.binaries.starwars. Thanks ryanvb!

Alright, I got the set, I must say awesome job on enhancing the tracks!

Even if I currently have just cheap headphones and laptop speakers, I can easily tell that there's no frequency out of place. Woodwinds, brass, strings, percussions, timpani, they're all there, crisp clear.

Can't wait to listen to it on a hifi or at least the car stereo. The whole set is like chocolate to me, and I LOVE chocolate!

7FN's transfers are... wow. I have used vinyl before (well until I broke the record player) and I already know it sounds better than most cds, but man... the only noise present is due to the age of the records, and even that's barely audible!

That's coming from a guy that years ago used to listen to the White Album and it sounded like this : "deeear POP CRACKLE POP POP ..dence..."

So, bottom line, everybody, grab it while it's still around!

Short time lurker here:)

A really great compilation, love the sounds. I have the ANH and ESB ones, haven't been able to locate the remastered RotJ  though. Anyway to get it I wonder?

I do feel a little dissatisfied about how the different pices have been sort of chopped up, especially when it comes to ANH, but I have the tools to put them back together, so no worries there ;) . Soundwise I have absolutley nothing to complain about.

After a PM interview, it appears it is not my work wich is involved here.

By the way, it would be a silly thing to find remasters through mp3's !... A very silly thing !

Finnaly got round to listening to the ROTJ v2 it is amazing lucas could do with this as a replacement for the crappy master tapes that he has so the next release of this soundtrack can be a good one in my opinion.

Overall 10/10 great job.

Lucas don't give a f... ! The next release may be the very same you already know. And the amazing thing I think is what can be done with the crappy master tapes, what I did... Correct ?

Anyway thanks for the evaluation ;)

I have listened them and I can't make any deep analysis with my 15 year old PC speakers but I did liked TESB soundtrack, there were great calm moments which sounded great. I'll have to burn them and listen them with a stereo system some day.

I am indeed sometimes a silly boy. And to be honest I couldn't tell the difference between a flac and mp3 even if someone scrubbed my ears with them. Don't have that trained ear ;)

Things cleared up and I'm a happy listener! Great work done! Gonna give the RSO remasters some time this weekend :)

By the way... The RSO are not remastered, just transfers. You really have to read the first big post ;)

... No more feedbacks? Some don' t care to help this set spread ... It's a bit of a disappointment

So this post is only one more bump from me to make some who missed it discover it.

You could've just said "bump" instead of insinuating that no one cares. ;) This forum doesn't have a system to 'pin' threads, but if it did, I think this one is worthy of it. Also remember that the more you post in other threads, the more people will see your signature...

^And the more we post here, the longer this thread stays at the top, right? Woo!

To be honest, I actually thought of this thread a couple of days ago. I have absolutely no problem bumping it from time to time (and I can if you don't beat me to it), especially as this is an important piece of work.

I'll help bump this thread!  I haven't put these on cd yet but playing them on the the computer over optical to my stereo (Polk towers, not true hifi but pretty good, and excellent AV123 subwoofer), I am in love with the sound quality.  Definitely a big step up from what is on the official versions, particularly noticeable on Jedi.

When making my custom OT dvd's, I inserted the deleted music from Luke and Ben's conversation on Dagobah in Jedi back into the movie soundtrack, and used the ABC set as my source.  Used the Izotope algorithm to resample to 48 khz, and it sounds completely awesome.  Thanks ABC for doing such a great job on these!

Hi,

Just felt the need to add my own thoughts to the thread. Although I got hold of the remastered scores quite a while ago now I only recently got around to listening to them properly, and they are truly wonderful! Thank you so much for all your work ABC - it's fantastic to be able to listen to the scores without having my ear drums destroyed by the treble from the brass! It really is like listening to them for the first time all over again.

I don't know if I should make my own thread about this, since I had an idea that can be considered as a spinoff of this project.

Basically I transfered the RSO SW LP to a cassette tape, just for the sake of it. I thought that back in the day it must've had a tape release, so I "recreated" it with my trusty ole tape deck. I recorded it with a 90 min Chrome tape, with no noise reduction as I don't know exactly how to use it and how much will it actually improve quality. I must say it sounds pretty good, there is no distortion at all (at least not that I can hear).

But a tape release without some kind of cover artwork would be incomplete, now wouldn't it?

So here's what I did, inspired by the set's artwork: (btw, guys how do I make thumbnails? EDIT- managed to do it manually)

and here's how it should look, once printed.

I don't have a printer, so I just cheaply photoshopped it (you can tell because of the missing reflections)

Anyway, what do you guys think?
