OT is perfect as is,

I would agree except for ROTJ. Not as good as the previous two.

Luke wasnt a little bish like darth vader. He wanted to join the Imperial Academy to leave tatooine. It wasn't his dream to be a jedi. He had to because his family was gone and his dream of joining the Imperial Academy was over. Anikan however wanted to be a jedi. He wanted to be a powerful jedi. Luke needed to be a jedi. So in the end Luke was the most mature and became more mature at the end of the saga (though he was more badass in Empire) Vader was consumed by his lust of power. In the end though Vader wen't through some rough stuff. And when you have a hooded charles manson telling you how to do things you become evil.

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

It probably would have been if Spielberg had gotten to direct it, as was Lucas' first choice.  I blame those vultures at the Director's Guild at the time for trying to pull Empire from the theater and fining Lucas -- and even Kirshner -- for simply having all of the screen credits at the end of the movie.

I cant hardly watch a movie with long opening credits. Its like the movie HULK the 03 version. Dear lord it took 20 minutes for the credits to stop then it was 2 hours of the worst movie ever made. What a way to milk a sucky movie. I look at star wars as a masterpiece it starts out beautifully then it tells you what happened before the story begins. It is awesome. I even like the ending credits. If star wars started out with opening credits it would take forever to start.

Oh totally, man!  Considering how many people were involved in making the movie (and I remember that Episode III documentary "Within a Minute).  A minute of opening crawl to tell a bit of backstory is better that 20 minutes of screen credits at the beginning.

Dreams and Flashbacks are not Star wars. I hope ady will get rid them once and for all :)

It worked well in AOTC. We never see his mother.

Actually I've just commited the heresy of suggesting re-doing the visions in the prequels in the style of Luke's encounter in the cave over on the Radical Prequel Redux thread.

As I said the problem wasn't the dreams it was the clip show nature of them.

If someone could do a proper dream sequence like those that David Lynch does (and it works naturally) I'm all for it.

I remember as a kid finding the vision in the cave one of the most interesting bits of ESB.

Sure it doesn't have to be done but in a way the cave dream was a premonition not only of what Luke could become but what his father once was and had become and would soon reveal (it could be argued by some but not me, that the cave sequence could go too).

If something like that could be done with Anakin's mum and Padme (it could even be the same sequence that he only fully understands when Padme says something in ROTS) It might save the idea.

But I too don't like the idea of clips as flashbacks or flashforwards (doing a Godfather 2 film set is one thing but tacking on bits is something else and though it worked in Babylon 5 it doesn't really feel right in Star Wars).

Well you could always take a pic of Padme and show some kind of visual that alludes to tragic outcome, but in a clever way that would only become apparent later.

Like have a "vision" where Anakin walks up to Shmi and tries to grab onto her but she shatters into shards of glass.

it doesn't have to look photoreal at all.

If you have any prequel vision ideas please post them on the other thread unless they have a part to play in an ESB or ROTJ edit but maybe something in the prequel dream could act as a trigger for Vader killing Palpatine. I suggested earlier adding the neckless he made as a boy into the sequence but maybe a little bit of the ROTJ scene could be in the Padme dream, seeding the breaking point for Vader earlier in the saga.

It would be a better way of doing the same thing.

I also had the idea of Leia running off to save Han from Jabba before Luke was ready some time back, this too could have been prompted by a vision she had but I have no idea of how to put that information on the screen.

I wouldnt mind the idea of a flashback in ROTS. Have him dreaming but dont show anything and hear screams then vaders breathing. Of course I contradicted myself agreeing to flashbacks. But for someone elses edit that would be cool.

While Spielberg directing "Jedi" would have been fantastic, the real undoing of the awesomeness that would have been "Jedi" was Gary Kurtz leaving (being fired?) as producer.  After that Lucas went on a big power trip and threw out all the outlines he and Kurtz had banged out together after ANH, and started from scratch.  And look what we ended up with.

I really, really, really want to read the original ESB and ROTJ outlines that were written after ANH ... but I don't think it'll ever happen, sadly.

Well, I do have a book called "The Star Wars Trilogy Annotations" which includes all three screen plays plus added notes about original rough drafts, like how Kashyyyk was originally in place of Endor and that the rebels got help from the Wookie natives, about how there were two (or possibly more) Death Stars being constructed and that the final battle between Luke and Vader was going to take place on Mustafar.

Just completetely ignore the holo. I messed up the saves and i hadnt the undo i was needed.

Considering ady's way of thinking i could propose a vader from 501st legion to move like the movie so the bridge isnt full in the middle of nowhere.

I love this Angel! This MUST be done! or of course this location would work too...if possible:

Move the scene to this location :

Executor Terminal

An idea I'd like to offer for ROTJ:R is Vader having flashbacks during his duel with Luke, just like here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RulmOAeJ4c

Here's the deal. i like the idea, but adywan doesn't go for flashbacks. however, i would like to see something that would let us get inside vader's head. why the sudden change of heart? though i already know it, it would be nice to see on screen.

also, i noticed something at the end of their duel. luke its the railings with his lightsaber twice, but they don't cut. the only time he cuts the railing is when he chops vaders hand off.

last thing i'd like to add, i read a book, the rise and fall of darth vader, at the end, after he dies, he imagines obi-wan talking to him saying that he is invited into the light through his redemption.

is there anyway we could reference the prophecy in the movie?

You think so?  I've always thought it was just fine.  It looks too "fake" in the YouTube video - I know it's just a test, but I don't see anything wrong with it as-is.  It just needs the colors fixed, like everything else on the 04 DVDs.

First, let me thank you for the compliment.  Second, I am aware that Adywan doesn't do flashbacks.  I am also aware that he isn't the only one who is doing fan-edits.  So, couldn't we say that this forum is a wishlist for all fan-edit projects?

Also, I'm sure Ady will consider fixing -- or rather, cutting -- the railing error when the time comes for ROTJ:R.

As for reference to the prophecy...it might be easier just to remove any and all mentions of it in the prequel.

Some weird forest plants like these my give Endor a more fantastic feel.

Further to my comments about Jabba's Palace, I'm not sure if it sits well with the idea of the Hutts being gangster's if he literally has a palace in a Royal sense.

It turns Jabba into a government within a government (Tatooine may not have been part of the Republic but by ANH it's clearly part of the Empire).

What if it's his lair and general residence but slightly undercover as a legitimate business, more like Caesar's Palace in Vegas than Caesar's Palace in ancient Rome.

It could have casinos, brothels, and bars.

The Rancor and Sarlacc pits could be entertainments and more vehicles (small like swoop bikes and medium sized schooners could afford his guests a better view) when they take their trip out to the Dune Sea.

Desert Schooner

It would tie into a culture that has pod racing too.

It could open up the Jabba scenes more and bring Tatooine back to the sort of world we saw in ANH.

Luke, Owen and Biggs were more concerned with the Empire than any ruling Hutt clans so it makes more sense if the Hutts are reduced to operating on the fringes of Tatooine society.

An Idea I have is. The rebels would do better to work at night to. So they could do more at night. Or at early dawn when everything is slightly dark then get brighter.

i was just refering back to my post of luke on a speeder bike to jabba's palace and realized, instead of pasting a head on there, why don't we ripp luke from the speeder bike chase on Endor and put him on the bike, in that scene?

anyone like? cm'n vaderios, ur one of my strongest supporters here

I like to see Luke as lone rider. So only far shots. And the revealing will be in the palace.

Close shots to Luke's face, that have shadows from the trees will be a bit unnatural.

Play clever ;)
