I've just finished having a look at the production & promo stills on the DVD computer disk for the ED1 collection, and I am already blown away by how amazing this fan edit (well, more of a preservation) really is. See No Evil has gone above and beyond with this truly amazing piece of work. Great job mate.

Hi,

The current version of "The Evil Dead The Treasures Collection" is the version 1.2.

When the version 1.3 will be available ?

If you work on the version 1.3, add this video : http://revver.com/video/524074/bruce-campbell-at-con-part-11within-the-woods-going-to-be-released/

He can be classified with the other videos concerning "Within The Woods".

There is also this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwlD7yboUG8

I would like to know if somebody has archives videos of the shooting of "Army Of Darkness" which we can see in the bonus "The Men Behind The Army".

THANK YOU.

Thanks for those links. DJSmokingJam & I really had the intention of doing a separate DVD for all the youtube stuff, we have so much more which has been collected over the years and is no longer online. When we have enough material to make a release worth it, and enough time to sort it all, we'll put it together.

I'll be releasing the next DVD-ROM folder version when I have enough new material added to make a whole new released, worth doing.

The archive AOD footage would have been shot by the KNB crew. I haven't seen this on bootleg anywhere, just on the retail DVD.

Any word on the Army of Darkness set? Or at least some of what will be on it?

Good question,I was just about to ask the same thing, especially since the Screwhead edition is coming out officially soon, and on Blu-ray even, can't wait.

Chris (cmbmls) is still working on the authoring of the AOD disc, but what he's designed and put together will be worth the wait.

I think we've sourced all the content we're likely to, short of something happening at the last minute, so here it is the listing for the AOD disc:

- The 90-minute "apeheads" TV cut kindly supplied by RidgeShark

- Excerpts from the Primitive Screwhead Edition (Ash Confronts Arthur, Windmill Scene/Tiny Ashes Uncut With Music, Ash Meets Henry The Red)

- EPK featurette and B-roll (sourced from low-res QT files - Chris is trying to make them look as good as possible)

- UK trailer (sourced from VHS), TV spot (sourced from YouTube), VHS commercial (sourced from Video Detective)

- Storyboards (the ones from the subtitle track on the AB DVD presented as a stills gallery)

If anyone can provide an upgrade for the EPK or trailers, or anything else worthy of inclusion, please PM me.

I would like to know if somebody knows how to keep a video of youtube or other of good quality when this one is downloaded ?
Why the video of the workprint of "Evil Dead 2" is of hideous quality by the middle of the video whereas at this address http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2491071648713661994&ei=PywYSv3VJIft-Abwp8S8AQ&q=workprint, the image is correct during all the film ?

You use the software "VirtualDub", what filters do you use because I'm very interested by the treatments videos.

THANK YOU.

snagging videos off youtube is very easy. In fact, go here:

www.keepvid.com

this online site will take the video and let you save it as an flv (lower quality) or higher quality (mp4) if available.

to get the url: on youtube, view a clip and on the right side you will see a box that says "url". Copy the whole link in that box and paste this into the keepvid address box and hit download (on the the right).

keepvid will then give you the two choices for download (toward the bottom left) for mp4, right click and choose "save as"

--that's it

forgive the incoherence in my wording, been up for 26 hours

PS: not sure if you want to use them for anything, but I converted 2 small clips of evil dead into true 3d (using a few video layers and masking, etc). I threw then up on youtube and if you do view them make sure you hit the HQ button otherwise the 3d effect will not display properly

Sorry but I did not clarify it, how can it be done to download "Evil Dead 2 Workprint" (the link is in the ancient message) because bizarrely the URL works only on some software, and the video is poor quality.

I downloaded videos on "Google Vidéo" and that worked while with this link, that does not work.

No offense, but I am not exactly sure what you are trying to say? Do you mean the url did not work in keepvid.com???

update: keepvid does work with the url you posted for the google video but only offers a lower quality flv file. Then again this could be the same format that is being used on the google video version. I can download this if you like

I would have to dig it out, but a while back I got a dvd from someone that had the evil dead 2 workprint on it. If am not mistaken I believe the quality was pretty decent. I will have to find it now

update update: used another program for the google video. The actual file they used (well google converted to) is flv format. This means my downloaded one should be what you are seeing, let me know if you need this

ok viewing it now, if you make the picture anything larger than the google video window it turns into a horrible blocky mess (worse then the block noise it already has. The specs for it are as follows:

Video: Flash Video 1 320x240 [Video]
Audio: MPEG Audio Layer 3 22050Hz mono 64Kbps [Audio]

The URL does not work either with "Keepvid" or with softwares which I tested.

Nevertheless I tested others videos that I downloaded since Google and that worked.

I can download this if you like

Thank you, but that irritates me because "Workprint of Evil Dead 2", I possess it, thanks to the DVD "The Evil Dead 2 Treasures Collection" but I want it because the video is good till the end while on the DVD, the video does not work any more towards the middle and starts again some minutes later.

Joinus,

the url does work with keepvid as I tested it for you, but instead I used orbit downloader to snag it.

I did not aquire the Evil Dead 2 , two disc edition yet (I just got a hold of the 7 gig disc 3 for evil dead). So I am not sure if the workprint version I have is the same that appears on this disc? I still have to dig that out and I have to get a hold of the first 2 dvds for this treasure collection (I can do that via LT and within the next few minutes)

It's not grave, apparently, I have no choice.

I will download the video and I will use VirtualDub with filters.

Thank you again.

Although DJSmokingJam & I have finished our respective Evil Dead 1 & 2 projects (although and Army Of Darkness disc may be coming at some point down the line) For anyone's future Evil Dead related projects, I thought I'd post a link here to a vastly comprehensive new Evil Dead fansite;

http://www.bookofthedead.ws

I has a great deal of useful information which may come in handy.

Cheers all!

Any updates?

No, both DJSmokingJam & I are quite busy with other projects at the moment. Since Ridgeshark released his truly excellent Army Of Darkness - Primitive Screwhead Edition DVD, the pressure is off to put something fan-made out there, plus there is very little 'extra' material that isn't found on the retail DVDs, unlike Evil Dead 1 and 2 which both have a wealth of additional material.

I wouldn't expect anything too soon, if at all, but if you're really on the lookout for rare Evil Dead Trilogy material, you might find this forum thread of interest;

I came on Book Of The Dead forum and I saw THIS amazing project : the Sam Raimi Super 8 Shorts DVD.

I'm very interrested for this rarity, I hope that somebody will send me the links via PM.

*bump*

So, the new BD release of The Evil Dead apparently gives the viewer the option to watch in 1.85:1 or original 1.33:1 aspect ratio. Has anyone got around to comparing the Blu-ray with the Japanese laserdisc? How does the colour grading and cropping compare? Does it have Raimi's 90s changes restored (the wide shot of Cheryl's turn and the lightning strike)? And does it include the original theatrical mono soundtrack?
