Question about the 85 mix

In 1985 Ben Burtt remixed the OT's soundtrack and added the mono's 3PO tractor beam line in. This was for the VHS. Does anybody have any idea did the new mix have any other changes from the original theatrical versions (the stereo in the case of ANH) and what those might have been?

Also, was any new material recorded for the 85 mix or was it just made of material that was previously in existence?

IIRC, the 1985 mix was very close to the 1977 stereo mix, but I do know there are some differences.  I just don't know exactly what.  I have a LD transfer of the 85 mix in three parts, not synchronized to any video, so when I start working on that I'll learn a bit more about it.

What I want to know as far as "Star Wars" sound mixes go:

- Is there a difference between the 1980 and 1985 mixes of "Empire," or are those all the same?  Is the 1980 mix available anywhere?  (I know the 1993 mix is missing a sound effect in the Hoth battle, IIRC)

- Was ROTJ ever remixed, or are the 1983, 1985, and 1993 the same?  Is the 1983 audio available anywhere?

I never heard the tractor beam line until the SE because the copy of Star Wars I grew up with was a VHS copy of the CES Videodisc (I wish I still had it, I'm sure it was really high quality, HA).

From (the now offline) davisdvd.com:

Among the clean up and digital repairs, some interesting new changes were added. These include sweetened sound effects, new stereo'd effects (Jawa voices after Artoo's capture) and, most noticeably, the addition of C-3PO's line in the Death Star

new stereo'd effects (Jawa voices after Artoo's capture)

Would that have been newly recorded stuff or stuff recorded in 77?

Also, I'm ignorant on the technical stuff. What does sweetened sound effects mean?

I'm aware of one of the "sweetened" sound effects.

During the shootout in the detention block, there is an exploding sound as each of the camera thingies is shot. That was later changed to a more dynamic sound, which was actually based on the sound of a glass lantern being thrown to the ground in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

But this may have been changed for the 1993 mix, not the 1985 mix.

You know of the rebellion against the Empire?

I thought the "sweetened" effects were done for the 1993 mix, and the 1985 mix was mainly to add in a few things from the mono mix that were missing from the 1977 stereo mix.

But I don't know too much about the 1985 mix, so I'm also not the one to ask about these things.

And Erik, the glass-breaking sounds were indeed added in the 1993 mix if I'm not mistaken.
