Star Wars DVD Covers — Page 151

You mean the poster?  That's a problem with the original one I used - it's the highest-res one I could find, though.  I tried to touch it up a bit to make it look more like the VHS cover.  The ESB/ROTJ VHS sleeves weren't color-altered like SW was, interestingly, so I didn't alter those two at all (except in size).  I'll see what I can do to make it less contrasty.

I had the same problem when i tried to make a set like yours thats why i have post poned my out set

"The other versions will disappear. Even the 35 million tapes of Star Wars out there won’t last more than 30 or 40 years. A hundred years from now, the only version of the movie that anyone will remember will be the DVD version [of the Special Edition], and you’ll be able to project it on a 20’ by 40’ screen with perfect quality. I think it’s the director’s prerogative, not the studio’s to go back and reinvent a movie." - George Lucas

and this which is more blue to contrast the other posters

Thanks for those - I'll be using the second one most likely, though it has some pretty intense JPEG compression artifacts.

I left out the overlaid starfield from the VHS box intentionally - I thought it looked terrible.

Thank you VERY much for that scan, satanika!  Artoo is slightly cut off, but the quality difference is so huge I can live with it easily.

Any suggestions on the special features sections?  Leave them as is?  Get rid of them?  Move them?  Put a subtle border around them?

Ah, right - I'll do that tomorrow.  My ROTJ one was taken from a poster that had all the credits and the title in a square on the left, and the poster with a clean bottom on the right.  It's not particularly high-res - the most high-res one I had was ESB until you posted that ANH one.

I got all of mine from a post somewhere in this thread, that had (I believe) a ZIP file of posters from all 6 movies.  (It might also have been in the High-res Posters thread, I don't remember anymore)

Can you recommend a good (free) place to upload a high-res image (1638x1366, 308 KB)?  The only one I've ever used is Photobucket, and I don't think that would work there.

Ok, I'm working on a rotj one that will be about 1600x2200.. Using the vhs scan and expanding it.

The clean esb I have is 958x1323.

I always use my own server as I hate those hosting sites with a passion ;)

Edit: Ok, since I can't seem to put photoshop down here's my rotj ones.. One cropped and two expanded w/both blue and green saber.

I like the latter ones best, though they're not perfect - needs more work. For those I used the vhs scan someone posted earlier as a base and expanded the sides.

My esb for reference.

Thanks for everybody's posts/hard work I love clean poster art and finding hi-res anything for the OT is almost impossible.

Apparently Photobucket *can* handle it.  ROTJ:

And the ESB I used:

Note that the standard version of that poster does not include Yoda, but the VHS cover did, so I used that version.

--edit--

It appears we have the exact same ESB JPEG.  I probably should have looked at yours before I uploaded mine.

Alright, here are the covers, finished, without the "special features" section:

I decided against the Special Features section because it didn't quite look right, plus it wasn't on the VHS sleeve anyway.  It wouldn't be hard for someone to add if they wanted to.

Here's the RapidShare download link - one ZIP file containing the full-res JPEGs of all three covers:

I'll post a similar link for my Indiana Jones covers if anyone's interested (you can find the "thumbnails" for those on page 150).

One of these days, I'm gonna have to line up my printer correctly... these are so great, but I never print them right! >_>

or perhaps to Kinko's?  Either way, I think I'll end up using those Ash.

Remember, these are for the individual releases and single-disc KOTCS.  I can make alternative covers for the old 4-disc box set and the 2-disc KOTCS if there's demand for them (I didn't make them because I don't have them).  I'm not entirely sure what I'd do for the 4th disc in the box set, but I'll figure something out.

I can also make disc art for "Raiders" to replace the "Indiana Jones and the ... " part.  Though I suppose if I do that, I'd *have* to make disc art for the rest of them ... and the Star Wars discs ... hmm ... I might just do that anyway in the near future ...

Whoops, sorry Moth3r, I forgot that thread existed.  Should I get rid of the Indy posts in this one and move them all over there, or is it okay if I just leave them here as well (this thread does get more traffic, after all)?

Buy a pack of legal size paper and fire up the cover you want to print in Windows Paint.

File>Page Setup.

Landscape, Legal size paper, set all margins to 0.  Paint will re-adjust them to your printer's minimum default.  Horizontal and Vertical center are optional.  I like to check them so that I don't have to struggle with trimming 1/16" off of one end...it's easier to trim an inch and a half.

Set your print quality and hit Print.

My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.

Ash I have found that deviant art is the best place on the planet to upload pictures that large.

I started on a new style for the logos, to try and make them look more professional. This is a demonstration of what I have planned.

In the meantime I've been reworking the logos in Inkscape, which makes my life a whole lot easier as far as modifying and storing them.

I've also been trying a couple of foreign languages (I don't speak any, so go easy on me).

Spanish

and (the beginning of) German.

For the niche on this site that would want foreign language covers, I can do the logos, but that's it.

Thanks!

Tell me, is there any BD version of Star Wars movies out there? At least 1080i from some HD channel?
