Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the heads-up about that ReverendBeastly. My boys used to love this movie at a certain young age, and although the 'inter-species romance' is completely silly, I really like the bits of score by John Barry. I held off getting the trailer-only, 2.0 stereo PAL release, but will definately get this for the extras-laden 5.1 remastering. :)
I'm sure my sons will dig watching this with their girlfriends now.
Howard and Beverly were in a relationship in the comics, so that's one aspect that made it to the screen intact. Maybe we will get a new more faithful adaptation someday.
IIRC, the movie played some 70mm venues, so there should be a kick-ass 5.1 mix. :)
Now, if only we could get a legit CD soundtrack release!
Where were you in '77?
I notice that the home page is strickly a login page. How can one register to even create a user name and password if you cannot get past the login page?
:: WTF are you on about? Wrong thread maybe?

So did anyone but myself get the new Special Edition?
I will hopefully pick up a copy today. Although I really wish there was a Blu-Ray version.
Alas, early reports are that the music video is not included. :(

If you want Nice, go to France
Was I right in reading that "The Music of Howard the Duck" is actually not on the disc?

Hi everybody. You’re all awesome. Keep up the good work.
I haven't been able to find it in a store. Guess I'll have to order it online. Has anyone found it someplace common like WalMart or Target?
My outlook on life - we’re all on the Hindenburg anyway…no point fighting over the window seat.
The music of Howard The Duck is on there,it just is not any video's I don't think,it looks like a documentary on Thomas Dolby working with the actresses to form Cherry Bomb, still very interesting.
Oh, awesome! I am a big Dolby fan, so I'm excited to see that.

dark_jedi, I meant the film itself. I've only checked WM and Target, haven't had a chance to check BestBuy or FYE yet. Are they carrying it?

So good luck.
Am I right in thinking the Region 1 disc has a 5.1 audio track?
Are there any obvious differences in picture between this disc and your previous HDTV -> DVD conversion?

Yes it has 5.1,and I am going to watch it in a few minutes actually, but when I ripped it to my PC and grabbed some screens,it looks pretty damn good.
Hang on a sec and I will post the screens here.

* For those that are curious, this retail release is on a DVD9 at 7.47GB's. *
I added some comparison screens from my HD2DVD Disc,I tried to get them as close as I could, now seeing them side by side,I like the color better on my HD2DVD Disc better.
i agree, DJ, the retail release looks too red (and yours looks a bit green) but i like the non-oompaloompa look best.
thanks for these comparison shots.
have you considered doing BD9 versions of your HD2DVD titles? or perhaps something like AVCHD like adwan's SW releases?

actually I am.
that is great news! i've really enjoyed your HD2DVD titles and look forward to some true HD versions :)
Ok, I found it tonight at FYE for $11.

Thanks for the comparison shots DJ. It's interesting that, aside from the obvious difference in colour, the HDTV2DVD version also looks sharper, more detailed and has less cropping. I'll have to get around to looking at the PAL release.
What are your plans for a true HD release - i.e. are you going to use the 5.1 audio off the DVD? And are you going to re-instate the censored scenes with video from the DVD upscaled?

still not sure how to upscale, and the color would be so different it sure would stick out badly, and I would like to use the 5.1 because it sounds real good.
