Also, I had a rip of this on my PC awhile back, it was a scene release from 2004 so good luck finding it, but it was a xvid rip or something of a tape that's better quality than mine.  Here's the NFO to help your guys find it.  The torrents of this out there, I have no clue if there this copy only renamed or what, but I'm downloading to see if I can find a decent one.  This is the tape I have to offer, I can rip it if you guys like.

The rip you linked to is actually SVCD (over 6 CDs!), not Xvid. I doubt very much that it will still be available via torrents, no-one bothers with SVCD anymore.

Yeah i saw that.  A damn shame really since i have been looking forward to your blade runner music collection.  One of my fave underrated sci fi movies.

But I like to get back to topic.

Today I got my "Complete Dossier" of Apocalypse Now.

I only watched half of the Cinematic Version, and its my first time ever to see this great movie. (Jeah, I am an Apocalyptic Now virgin, I have to admit it...)

On one hand I would really like to see the complete full 5 1/2 hour Version, and put a 3 Disc Version of it right next to the Complete Dossir and the original german VideoCD cinematic version, but on the other hand I fear the raw quality. Its something strange feeling. I never watched the Hellraiser 4 rawcut contained in the german official release, because its so.. so... even some 10 time copied VHS Films looked better 10 Years ago...

and then: I LOVED the first half of the Cinematic Version of the movie, I think an complete uncut and original 5 1/2 hour version of this epic war critisim would be the best thing happened to such a masterpiece...

The poor thing: I don't have anything to offer :( its hard to get such stuff in germany, I you don't know the right guys.

The german DVD release of the normal cinematic ~150 min version is very expensive .. sometimes 25 $ and more on eBay. One guy wants about 100$..

I'm not gonna bid on them, but maybe someone here interessted.

This would be fantastic if found, but I think the quality will always be less than desirable. The Apocalypse Now Book says that the author saw the 5 1/2 rough cut with these legendary scenes on betamax tapes. This was back in 2001 just after Redux hit. (Still hate Redux.) Still something is better than nothing!

Why the hell did they have to split the film onto two discs for the supposedly "complete" dossier? it's almost like having to flip an LD or old flipper DVD. The film does not require 2 discs for bitrate!! Has anyone thought of trying to combine the two halves on one disc?

And what exactly was on that Circuit City exclusive disc? I bought mine there, but never recieved that disc like I was supposed to.

Would it be possible to combine the two halves of the theatrical cut on the complete dossier so that one could enjoy the movie in one sitting as was intended? what software would be necessary?

I've just re watched my version of the workprint. The one commonly available divided into 4 segments.

It's not the 330 min version I thought it was. More like the 290 min version. In fact it cuts just afer Kurtz gets the chop from Willard. It then has the playboy bunnies scene of entertaining the troops with some weird music. Then it has the Apocalypse Pooh nonsense http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rj_YPJvia8A

Does anyone know what's in the 330 min version that's not in the 290 min version? Anything beyond the deleted scenes available on the Complete Dossier set?

I also watched the Redux with commentary. At the Start Coppola says of the 79 Cannes screening that he left out the French Plantation scene. So anyone know what was the extra 40 mins in that 3 hour version over the theatrical release?
