THE STAR WARS SAGA - 1080P AVCHD DVD-9 for PS3 & Blu-Ray players - Episodes 1, 4 & 5 available now — Page 17

Yeah I know, I was just wondering if he had to speed it up from the slower framerate or if it was already like that.

Author
Time

I Think he used a PAL broadcast that was at 25p so going down to 24p was not to bad now the encoding part is a pain to get the correct bitrate at a good file size to fit on to a DVD-9

Now that I've downloaded it, question:

Do I actually have to burn it in order to open it, or can I open it straight from the hard drive?

If you've got the UDF driver installed properly, you can load it directly from the drive using some sort of mounting software (I use Daemon tools, google it).

OK, well I can finally chime in on this project now that I have SEEN it properly. I watched it on my new 46" Samsung 650 series LCD with a PS3 and it is just phenomenal! Ady, I'm so glad that you're part of this community. We all owe you so much and it is difficult to really express how much respect I have for your efforts (... a lot...)

Anyway, keep up the great work. I can't wait for the AVCHD of Empire!

Thank you MoveAlong.I'm glad you enjoyed it

Do we have any idea which film is next...and when it will be "released?"

Well originally TPM was going to be next but with disc space running out fast working on ESB:R the next release will be Empire and maybe available before Christmas. I just wish i could find someone who managed to record the starwars.com DVD commentaries before they were taken offline. I managed to find ANH and added it to the EpIV AVCHD but i'm missing the rest of the saga..

Anyway, as a teaser for my next release here is the theatrical Emperor in glorious 1080p HD. I was expecting this to take me ages to do but once i had reconstructed the background plates it just fell together

Hey, if anyone here deserves to make a thread solely to ask for something like that, it's you! I say go for it. If anyone has it, I'm sure they'd help you out in a heartbeat.

Hey Ady,

I was wondering if you would consider doing another re-encode of the video portion leaving everything else the same.  The size of the release leaves about 530mb of room left on a DVD9 which is a significant amount of space that can be used for the video.

Did you use Megui to do the encode and what profile / x264 settings did you use?  How large was the final video before you did the x264 encode?  Just trying to squeeze every last drop of quality out...  The current release is 7200kbs video bitrate.  You can probably get to 8000 if you used up the rest of the 530mb.

I know it takes a long time to re-encode and I'd offer to do it if I had the files or can get them from you...

unfortunately the original uncompressed video no longer exists. It took up an enormous amount of space and i needed the space for ESB so i had to delete it. I pushed the bitrate up to 7600kbs and it became too big to fit the disc with all the audio tracks. there was no visual difference between that and the 7200kbs final one. ESB will probably have a larger bitrate because it will only have the 2 audio tracks unless i manage to find the DVD web commentaries, which isn't looking too good at the moment.

And like I suggested, if you haven't already, make a thread about it. People will bend over backwards to help you! ;)

Thanks ady.  Before you do the final encode of the next one, I can help you calculate and get you an encode bitrate that is as close to 7.95gb as possible.

Hey there!

Amazing work! I've done a lot of AVCHD rendering with output for DVD-9 but this one works best.

I rendered TESB and ROTJ for AVCHD, and after adding borders (to fit 1920x1080) I used MeGui and some other stuff to have it on a Dual Layer DVD.

Of course my version does not have colour correction or whatsoever - I started it BEFORE I found this thread here...

Here's what I find interesting:

I used the same Dual Layer DVD-R's and the same burnig tool for your ANH and my TESB, but as soon as the player reads from the second layer your ANH works fine and my TESB has major problems with FF and FR and even with switching chapters.

I have not the least idea why. I thought this would be a reason of the brand of DVD-Rs you use or the player you use, but in this case...

The only thing I noticed is that your ANH is exactly 24.00 fps and my TESB is 23.97 fps - no idea if that causes the problems on second layer...

Keep up the good work and I personally cannot wait to see your TESB HD soon!

So is it Ian's voice in the new emperor scene? The old emperor never bothered me but the old voice is pretty lame

No, the framerate should have no impact on playability with the second layer. Here's what i do: after creating the video with Megui, i use TSMuxer to create the blu-ray folders and then IMGburn to burnboth the the folders, using udf 2.50

No. It's the original Clive Reville voice becuase these versions are the pre-2004 theatrical SE versions

Thanks, but that is EXACLTY the way I do it. I use Nero 9 instead of IMGburn for buring the files on an udf 2.50 DVD. This is strange... perhaps a problem with my DVD-burning drive.

In case of the framerate: I noticed that even most of the Blurays are not 24.00 but 23.97 fps - so logically it would not make sense for 23,97 fps-AVCHDs to cause any problems.

Ah, thats exactly where your problem is. Neros udf 2.50 is messed up and does cause a lot of problems with DL. Burn with IMGburn and you'll have no problems
